[Bug 1063091] Re: Bamboo Connect (CTL-470k) not responding

2012-10-12 Thread Ales Katona
After some additional testing it seems that the tablet works in a random
manner (some reboots it does, most it doesn't but it doesn't seem to be
related to it being plugged in USB on boot).

When it works I get this xinput list result:
⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2[master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointerid=4[slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ PIXART USB OPTICAL MOUSE id=9[slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPadid=12 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Wacom Bamboo Connect Finger touch id=14 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Wacom Bamboo Connect Finger pad id=15 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Wacom Bamboo Connect Pen stylus id=16 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Wacom Bamboo Connect Pen eraser id=17 [slave pointer (2)]

and evdev on event14 works (note tho, I didn't get /dev/input/events for
id > 14 for some reason)

But it should've worked on the pen device because this is the touchless
version of the tablet.

When it doesn't work I get this xinput list result:
⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2[master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointerid=4[slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ PIXART USB OPTICAL MOUSE id=10 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPadid=13 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Wacom Bamboo Connect Finger touch id=9[slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Wacom Bamboo Connect Finger pad id=15 [slave pointer (2)]

while still not having event15 in /dev/input (9 us there)

I think the touch devices are probably dummy and that's what causing the
problems.

[Bug 1063091] [NEW] Bamboo Connect (CTL-470k) not responding

2012-10-06 Thread Ales Katona
Public bug reported:

My Bamboo Connect CTL-470 tabled (cable version) doesn't work in the latest
12.10 beta2.
The kernel recognized it and creates two new input devices. I can see it also
in the Xorg input list but not in the ubuntu settings/wacom. I can also see the
device in Inkscape, however it cannot be used or turned on. The pen does light
up the light on the tablet, but no mouse movement is registered from it.

Description:Ubuntu quantal (development branch)

I expected the tablet to work, it didn't. I'm reporting this under the X
driver since the kernel seems to have recognized it properly in DMESG:

I would like to add that this affects also the GNOME classic main panel
menu (the font is also "dark gray on black", and sadly Radiance theme is
also broken with "white gray on white. It might be 2 issues but the bad
colors seem too conveniently similar.

I think that perhaps that change shouldn't affect the text color
(although border was also changed??). I plan to look into JDK/swing's
sources for theming info with native gtk look and see what they read as
what, but am quite busy with other things atm.

All swing Java applications have this problem if they decide to use
native look. This includes netbeans, Jitsi (the SIP communicator) and
possibly quite a lot of others.
