Imagine if this error was committed at Microsoft corp., there would happen a platetarian scandal in the ICT environment and all the technical guru would speak about that for years, if it does not happen to Canonical, is just because is still a common opinion that Ubuntu is not an operating system suitable for production environments, and therefore no one is really surprised. -- Maverick could not load /lib/modules/2.6.35-22-generic/modules.dep https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/642421 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

same problem for me upgrading to Maverick from 10.04, after that to solve this issue I've tried to make a clean installation but the "modprobe: Fatal..." error remain anyway every time I boot. Another new release bug is in the Gnome-panel, often disappearing. HOW COULD CANONICAL DELIVER SUCH A BUGGY OFFICIAL RELEASE? Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm Operating System: UBUNTU Jaunty, rel. 9.04 Using package: "GDM, Installed release: 2.20.10-0ubuntu2 kernel: 2.6.28-11-generic Gnome: 2.26.1 What I expected to happen: using the "gdm setup" ( "sudo gdmsetup" ), I was changing the active gdm theme with the brand new one I've just installed, but after the chabnge I wanted to completely remove the old gdm-theme, using the button "Remove" at the right side of the installed theme list, placed in the "local" menu tab. What happened instead: (I've tried this command sequence a lot of time, so now I'm sure this is a bug!): every time you remove the previuos activated theme used by gdm (the remove option become active just after the change of the active selected theme), the application aborted, closing itself automatically. This bug do not happen if I remove other gdm themes installed, this bug happen only if I remove the previous active theme, the one in use until that moment. [Bug 290732] [NEW] gdm do not play any accessibility sounds
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm In the tab "accessibility" of the application "gdmsetup" (gdmsetup is what I have to write on the terminal to display the application I'm talking about), it is possible to configure the greeter to play some custom sounds, related to some tipical event, such as "access successfully" or "login window ready" and "Access failed". Starting from my new Intrepid update, I can play any kind of sound and video using Rhythmbox, VLC, SMplayer and so on,... but...no sound plays from the gdmsetup: from that package it's impossible for me to configure and execute any sounds. The GDMsetup has a sound-preview-mode, that, when pressed, do not play any sound (I tried with different file format), but if I try to play the same sound from outside the GDMsetup, using Rhythmbox for istance, I can perfectly play that sound. this is my PC config: OS: Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid) Kernel: 2.6.27-7-generic Gnome 2.24.1 RAM: 1000 MiB Processor 0: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20Ghz Processor 1: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20Ghz GPU: Nvidia 9500 GT Total free HD space: 170 Gib Dual Boot PC: /dev/sda (250 GiB) ext3 /dev/sdb (250 GiB) ntfs Best regards Alessandro Isaia ** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- gdm do not play any accessibility sounds https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/290732 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
