[Bug 657018] Re: Popup info boxes in KDE apps appear in black-on-black with default theme in Ubuntu 10.10 RC

2010-11-13 Thread Alex - Microsmeta
I love Ubuntu, BUT...

10.10 UI is much faster than 10.04 BUT IT IS FULL OF BUGS and still
lacks of drivers for old devices.

1 Month since the 10 October release and no one has fixed this silly
bug!!!

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdepim/+bug/669362

PLEASE, FIX IT KDEPIM!

[Bug 669362] [NEW] Tooltips all black (text, background) with KDE Akregator and Ubuntu 10.10 (Ambiance theme)

2010-11-01 Thread Alex - Microsmeta
Public bug reported:

When mouse over on buttons & feeds tree, text and background are black, so it
is impossible to read tooltip text.
Workaround: change theme then reselect it, but after a while the bug is back.

Screenshot: http://www.microsmeta.com/images/tooltipnera.png

Theme: Ambiance

Is there a way to fix?

[Bug 667658] [NEW] Ubuntu 10.10 + ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 64Mega, SUDDENLY (5 min/hours) graphic is full of garbage

2010-10-28 Thread Alex - Microsmeta
Public bug reported:

Maverick Meerkat updated from Lucid Lynx starts fine (Desktop Effect
activated and quick menus) on an old 2004 Acer Aspire 1350 with Athlon
XP 2800+ ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 64Mega, then SUDDENLY (5 min/hours)
graphic is full of garbage, as you can see here:
http://www.microsmeta.com/images/ubuntu10.10impazzito.png

Lucid Lynx has the same bug
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-
ati/+question/118449

..Probably related to MESA drivers for ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 64 Mega.

Absolutely no problem with Ubuntu 9.10 or Windows XP on same notebook,
so I'm really disapponted!

Please tell me what to test/check...

Thank you, Alex

[Bug 189198] Re: [RV200 QW 7500] video comes up garbled - monitor edid not 1.2 compliant, and X picks wrong preferred mode

2010-08-06 Thread Alex - Microsmeta
Similar bug still happens to me occasionally. Question #118449 is NOT SOLVED,
but I don't know how to change
the "state" and reopen the bug. So I repost here my question:

SCREENSHOT: http://www.microsmeta.com/dblog/graficaimpazzita.png
HARDWARE:
Notebook Acer Aspire 1356 LMI (2004)
Athlon XP Mobile 2800+
1,25 GB (expanded)
ATI RADEON MOBILITY 9200 64M

Ubuntu Lucid Lynx starts normally with 3D acceleration / Desktop Effects
(Compiz) activated. After a while (10 -> 30 MINS ) the desktop is full
of big lines of random pixels . Restarting single applications do not
solve, and soon Ubuntu becomes unstable and crashes. I can only close &
restart the session as quick as possible as a workaround.

It happens with both latest GNOME / LXDE desktop environments

XORG VERSION: 16 June 2010 09:31:32AM
GCC VERSION: 4.4.3 (i486-linux-gnu)
GNOME 2.30.2 (Ubuntu 2010-06-25)
KERNEL 2.6.32-23-generic (#37-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jun 11 07:54:58 UTC 2010)

I SUSPECT SOME BUGS ON MESA DRIVERS... NB WAS WORKING WELL USING UBUNTU
9.10

GLX version: 1.2
OpenGL version string: 1.3 Mesa 7.7.1
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI R200 (RV280 5C61) 20090101

NO HARDWARE PROBLEMS USING WINDOWS XP

Installing Lucid Lynk 10.04 RC test ISO (on Wubi) from CD or ISO image
mounted on XP, I had the same problem.

Workaround: clicking with the mouse, moving the window or hitting ENTER
again and again let the install complete the task (but very slow!)

[Bug 553200] Re: Mouse and keyboard stop working after selecting user

2010-04-21 Thread Alex - Microsmeta
@Robert Hooker - Thank you, Alberto Milone's PPA solved the issue.
Desktop Effects activated with 96.43.17 and the password at GDM login is
now working!

This is what I have done:
-Installed Ubuntu Desktop i386 (20100419.1) test ISO on Wubi (ONLY TO TEST ;-) )
(Other Bug found & FIX - if installation at 93% + stops, press enter
or move the mouse to awake the installation again and again until finished!)
-When offered the installation on NVIDIA proprietary drivers, refuse and add
the PPA to the sources.
-Search for updates, then install the new PPA nvidia-96 mode aliases
(96.43.17)
-Restart the system and activate Desktop Effects if not already ebabled.
