[Bug 1950842] [NEW] Bluetooth Adapter Not Detected
Public bug reported: Attempted every Stackoverflow & related solution I could find, at this point I can only assume this is a bug. Installed Ubuntu 21.10 on ASUS-TUF-Gaming-F17-FX706HM-TUF706HM. No Bluetooth devices can connect. Exact symptoms: Click on the taskbar. It says Bluetooth Off. When I expand that, it gives me the option to turn Bluetooth off. That is not a typo. Go into Settings->Bluetooth. Sliding button on the top says Bluetooth is on (button is on the right, filled in purple), but the page says Bluetooth is off. [Bug 1945121] [NEW] Ubuntu auto-suspends when I unplug my laptop after not having used it for a few minutes.
Public bug reported: I'm using Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS I have my power settings so that Ubuntu will never auto-suspend if plugged in, but will do so after 20 minutes if on battery power. If I leave it plugged in but untouched for 20 minutes, and then unplug it (to move it to another room when I come back to it), then it suspends on the way there. It would seem more intuitive that unplugging/plugging in would be considered interaction, and would reset the delay. The expected behavior, in that case, would be that it gets unplugged, stays on, and then suspends after 20 minutes if there is no further interaction. I know any official fix would probably take a while, if one is even considered. Is there any workaround? [Bug 1892548] [NEW] Rapidly increasing memory usage of kwin_x11 while watching videos
Public bug reported: A few days ago, I upgraded from Ubuntu 19 to Ubuntu 20. Ever since then, whenever I watch a video (Youtube and Netflix in both Firefox and Chrome, people streaming their webcams in GoToMeeting in Chrome, etc), the resident memory usage of kwin_x11 climbs up at a rate of about 100MB per 5-10 seconds to the point where it takes all the ram and swap (see screenshot attached, though it goes even higher). When it has filled my ram and swap, it just stops increasing. Then, if I open a new window of whatever app (or perform some other action on the desktop), I will get a lag and memory usage will drop down to almost nothing. Letting the video play will result in memory usage increasing in the same fashion again and again. I'm not sure if it's related, but I'm also seeing some segfaults in dmesg, but I was unable to correlate the timing of the segfault with high memory usage so far: [ 1663.034397] SGI_video_sync[9193]: segfault at e6 ip 5639903c9bfd sp 7f9988a627c0 error 6 in bitwarden[56398cfb8000+5322000] [ 1663.034406] Code: 0f 46 d8 89 df e8 43 00 00 00 4c 89 f7 e8 db 01 00 00 41 8b 46 10 41 8b 4e 18 0f b6 c0 c1 e0 0c 0f b6 c9 c1 e1 14 09 c1 09 d9 01 00 81 e3 ff 0f 00 00 c6 03 00 bf 01 00 00 00 e8 bd b3 f0 01 [ 1663.692678] SGI_video_sync[9212]: segfault at e6 ip 557c749aebfd sp 7fd08c8157c0 error 6 in bitwarden[557c7159d000+5322000] [ 1663.692686] Code: 0f 46 d8 89 df e8 43 00 00 00 4c 89 f7 e8 db 01 00 00 41 8b 46 10 41 8b 4e 18 0f b6 c0 c1 e0 0c 0f b6 c9 c1 e1 14 09 c1 09 d9 01 00 81 e3 ff 0f 00 00 c6 03 00 bf 01 00 00 00 e8 bd b3 f0 01 [ 1664.212728] SGI_video_sync[9223]: segfault at e6 ip 55c73953cbfd sp 7f62d88a47c0 error 6 in bitwarden[55c73612b000+5322000] [ 1664.212737] Code: 0f 46 d8 89 df e8 43 00 00 00 4c 89 f7 e8 db 01 00 00 41 8b 46 10 41 8b 4e 18 0f b6 c0 c1 e0 0c 0f b6 c9 c1 e1 14 09 c1 09 d9 01 00 81 e3 ff 0f 00 00 c6 03 00 bf 01 00 00 00 e8 bd b3 f0 01 xorg 1:7.7+19ubuntu14 nvidia 440.100-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 kwin-x11 4:5.18.5-0ubuntu0.1 Don't hesitate if you need more info. Hi again, (follow-up to #18 & #19 posts) I found out that "Display Mode" in Settings -> Devices -> Displays was set to "Join Displays". [Bug 1677198] Re: OpenVPN not Working in 17.04 via "Import a saved VPN configuration"
Hello, I had a problem importing configuration files to create a VPN connection. Nothing would happen after clicking on "Import from file..". After countless attempts (and only after turning my 2nd monitor on) I realized that the "Select file to import" window opens on the 2nd monitor and can't be moved to the main monitor. After selecting the file to import and clicking "Open" on the 2nd monitor, the rest of the procedure to add a VPN worked fine and I was able to set a VPN connection. I hope this helps. PS: The same problem occurs with other applications. Ex. Trying to open a document in LibreOffice, the window to select the file opens on the 2nd monitor. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1677198 Title: OpenVPN not Working in 17.04 via "Import a saved VPN configuration" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/network-manager/+bug/1677198/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1485992] Re: After I exit a game on steam, I did a system update and the crash apperd.
The only work around that I have found is to go back to your old kernel that was installed. In this case, it's usually this one: 3.19.0-15-generic The work around (in terminal /konsole): The offending packages are the following that cause that error: linux-headers-3.19.0-26 linux-headers-3.19.0-26-generic linux-image-3.19.0-26-generic linux-image-extra-3.19.0-26-generic The old packages for the older kernel when it did work: linux-headers-3.19.0-15 linux-headers-3.19.0-15-generic linux-image-3.19.0-15-generic linux-image-extra-3.19.0-15-generic What you do is this (if it says they're already installed don't worry, this is also for people those purged these packages from before): sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install -y linux-headers-3.19.0-15 linux-headers-3.19.0-15-generic linux-image-3.19.0-15-generic linux-image-extra-3.19.0-15-generic sudo apt-get purge -y linux-headers-3.19.0-26 linux-headers-3.19.0-26-generic linux-image-3.19.0-26-generic linux-image-extra-3.19.0-26-generic sudo update-grub2 When this is done, you might get an error about the grub hidden timeout being set to a non zero number is no longer supported, that's not a real problem, I can tell you how to fix it if it really bothers you, though. Now, that all of this is done: Close all your open applications and type in: sudo reboot When Ubuntu and forks reboots, login or let the auto login script bring you to the desktop. Assuming you have the AMD / ATI Catalyst installed: (in terminal / konsole): sudo amdcccle When it opens, check all your setting and if you need to make changes do so at this time, since you're running as a super user, you can also change the resolution should you feel you need to do this at this time. When done, close that application and start Steam. From here, you should be fine. Just make sure that when you go to update your system, to not allow that bad kernel to be installed onto your system again. I recommend using Synaptic package manager to deal with unruly packages. You can pick and choose what packages are updated and which are left well enough alone. I hope this helps! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1485992 Title: After I exit a game on steam, I did a system update and the crash apperd. [Bug 1485931] [NEW] fglrx-updates-core 2:15.200-0ubuntu4: fglrx-updates-core kernel module failed to build
Public bug reported: The default kernel 3.19.0-26-generic in Lubuntu 64-bit AMD64 seems to have trouble with the additional restricted drivers from AMD / ATI, despite being listed as compatible. This doesn't happen to me in any other Ubuntu distribution or fork, only Lubuntu. What happens is that the driver is in fact installed but isn't reading the configuration of my actual card installed. It gives the maximum resolution settings of 4k, which this specific card isn't capable of at all. I've tried the old hold over of using; sudo amdconfig -f --initial That normally will fix my problem after I reboot the machine but in this case, it does not. I know my card is 100% compatible with this driver from AMD as it works in Xubuntu 15.04 32-bit 686 & 64-bit x86_64 kernels flawlessly. Public bug reported: The game crashed while I was playing Team Fortress 2, koth_viaduct_event (Eyeaduct). I also noticed on the character configuration screen there was the sound of static, it would go away when I closed that menu and come back when I would open it again. [Bug 1347405] Re: Atempting 14.04 install into LVM striped drives 'grub-install /dev/sda' failed
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1059827 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1059827 Hi Guys, The first issue was the partitioning left no room for the grub on /dev/sda as Philip mentioned. ( I no longer get grub-install /dev/sda' failed ) Thanks Philip Now the original setup does work... if its not encrypted. The desktop installer does not insert the request for password in the grub boot to unlock the LUKS partitions so that the LVM system can be seen. The boot now fails on waiting for the encrypted disk. Since this is a different issue, I'll see if I can convert this to a question. Perhaps someone has done this before? # Encrypted partitions /dev/sda3 /dev/sdb3 # /sda2 is /boot partition non-encrypted non-LVM pvcreate /dev/sda3 pvcreate /dev/sdb3 sudo vgcreate Stripe2SSD /dev/sda3 /dev/sdc3 sudo lvcreate -i 2 -I 256 -L 247000M Stripe2SSD -n root sudo lvcreate -i 2 -I 256 -L 2M Stripe2SSD -n swap # manual install and Assigned the /, swap. /boot Boot fails waiting for device ( the encrypted partition ) Thanks for your help!
