[Bug 1831476] [NEW] gpaste extension is broken on ubuntu 19.04 (needs update)

2019-06-03 Thread Alex Garel
Public bug reported:

GPaste is broken on my system : the extension is marked as error in
https://extensions.gnome.org/local/

In syslog I found this error:

Extension "gpa...@gnome-shell-extensions.gnome.org" had error:
TypeError: this._construct is not a function

It seems to be linked to the passage to ES6 on gjs (see
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gjs/issues/233)

This seems to be fixed in newer release of gpaste. See
https://github.com/Keruspe/GPaste/commit/e9473969abf6ae457c79cd14233c71d61a3f16f6

So as 19.04 ships with Gnome 3.32, you should update gnome-shell-
extensions-gpaste to last version.

[Bug 1810689] [NEW] HDA Intel PCH / Realtek ALC269VB not seen by pulseaudio (whereas alsa see it) after ubuntu 18.10 upgrade

2019-01-06 Thread Alex Garel
Public bug reported:

I was using ubuntu 18.04 on my computer (and previously 17.10), and I
got the sound card working correctly with pulseaudio.

After upgrading to 18.10, pulseaudio interface only detect my usb
microphone (BIRO UM1), but it does not detect my computer internal sound
card, either for sinking or as a source.

I only have a "fictive sink".

I have done some experiments: using pacmd, if I try to `load-module
module-udev-detect`, nothing happens, and `journalctl --user-unit
pulseaudio.service` tells me that the module was already loaded and refuse to
load again.
If I use `load-module module-detect` the sound card is detected but does not
seems to work correctly !
If I use `load-module module-alsa-sink device=default` and `load-module
module-alsa-source device=default` my sound card is seens and works as expected.

So the problem seems with the module-udev-detect not doing its job
correctly (or not having necessary rules ?)

2019-01-04 Thread Alex Garel
Thanks Diego for the information, I also got the feeling that the bug is
linked to logind waiting for something from the network or usb (not
sure).

I also wanted to add that this bug cause another annoyance : while I
plug a USB storage key in, the system is blocked for a while : I can
move the mouse, or change console, but I cannot click, change window,
scroll, change workspace… until few minutes (duration vary).

In syslog I got the same message as for the lock screen : systemd got
paused for ….

2018-11-27 Thread Alex Garel
I got the issue, today while using sudo (to use bindfs), just after I
typed my password, whole gnome got blocked (the mouse cursor moving but
without changing shape and being unable to type, neither have any action
on any window or program), but I could log in a new tty console. Note
also that this was during an internet downtime.

I attach the syslog around this time.

I have the same bug here, and it's been quite a long time. It comes from
time to time. After a while logins happens, but sometimes it's after a
really long time !

I'm not sure but it seems uptime is generally high on my side.

$ uptime
 15:10:50 up 8 days, 19:07,  2 users,  load average: 1,47, 1,38, 1,40

I attach apport informations and some syslog around the times it happens.

[Bug 1779582] Re: Unable to create unpriviledged container

2018-07-03 Thread Alex Garel
Here it is !

But

1. at the time being a container named gym already exist (for I used
lxc-copy to create it)

So I tried:

$ lxc-create -n gym2 -o lxc.debug -l DEBUG -t download -- -d ubuntu -r
xenial -a amd64

and to my surprise it worked.

So there might have been something specific to the "gym" folder and I
propose to close the ticket !

drwxr-xr-x 2 165536 alex 4096 juil.  1 22:34 .local/share/lxc/gym

So I don't know where it's failing and why !

[Bug 1700500] Re: lxc-net incompatible with systemd-resolved

2018-03-04 Thread Alex Garel
(Sorry if I misunderstand your answer)

I didn't ask how to do it. The bug reports tells that it should be
working out of the box, but it's not. This is because ubuntu switched to
systemd-revolved and this package do not provide the necessary bridge,
which is the configuration bit you provide (and that I already provide
in the description).

[Bug 1721092] Re: systemd-resolved and dns-masq make CPU 100% when using lxc name resolution

2018-01-29 Thread Alex Garel
Hello,

I tried to get DNS packets using :

$ sudo tcpdump -i lxcbr0 -l -vvv dst host 10.0.3.1 and dst port 53 |tee
/tmp/tcpdump-dns

I then wait until systemd-resolved ate 100% of CPU. But at this time
(unfortunately when I noticed it, it may have been eaten CPU for quite a
while). However I can't see any strange exchange between systemd-
resolved and dnsmasq.

I attach all the packets captured by tcpdump.

I'm not an expert in networks topics but I'm at ease with linux and cli
commands, so feel free to tell me which experiment you would like me to
run.

[Bug 1721092] [NEW] systemd-resolved and dns-masq make CPU 100% when using lxc name resolution

2017-10-03 Thread Alex Garel
Public bug reported:

This bug may be a duplicate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/1688364 but I'm
not sure, hence this new entry.

It hits while I wanted systemd to resolve the lxc domain to my internal
lxc hosts.

Step to (maybe) reproduce:

- having lxc installed
- make some user space lxc container
- uncomment the line LXC_DOMAIN="lxc" in /etc/default/lxc-net
- restart lxc-net service

Now the dnsmasq on 10.0.3.1 should be a dns resolving lxc names.

- add a file /etc/systemd/resolved.conf.d/lxc.conf

  [Resolve]
  DNS=10.0.3.1
  Domains=~.lxc
  DNSSEC=false

- restart systemd-resolved service

Now systemd knows it should ask .lxc names to dnsmasq

- start an lxc container, let assume it's called my-container
- ping it using my-container.lxc it should work

After some times, systemd-resolved should use 100% CPU.

Commenting the /etc/systemd/resolved.conf.d/lxc.conf file and restarting
it makes systemd-resolved never eating resources again.

[Bug 1700500] [NEW] lxc-net incompatible with systemd-resolved

2017-06-26 Thread Alex Garel
Public bug reported:

Symptoms

If an lxc container named *mycontainer* runs, it is not accessible using
name *mycontainer.lxc*.

Causes
--

The lxc1 package provides the lxc-net.service which launch a dns-masq
process to act as dns providing name resolution to local lxc instances
using the .lxc domain.

This DNS is however not declared to systemd-resolved, and so .lxc names
do not work on a standard ubuntu install.

Proposed solution
-

The lxc1 package should provide a /etc/systemd/resolved.conf.d/lxc.conf
with the following content::

  [Resolve]
  DNS=10.0.3.1
  Domains=~.lxc
  DNSSEC=false

[Bug 1687901] Re: i915 driver makes linux crash

2017-05-17 Thread Alex Garel
Hi, just wan't to say that since I'm using the kernel at
http://people.canonical.com/~sforshee/lp1674838/ (4+ days) I'm not
experimenting this bug any more.

$ uname -a
Linux tignasse 4.10.0-20-generic #22+lp1674838v201705030839 SMP Wed May 3
13:41:02 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I'll try the upstream kernel as soon as I have an occasion to reboot.

[Bug 1687901] [NEW] i915 driver makes linux crash

2017-05-03 Thread Alex Garel
Public bug reported:

I recently upgraded from ubuntu 16.10 to 17.04.

Today I got several crash which seems to imply the i915 driver.

I had the crash while using gnome-shell, and also while using unity.

As I work, the system completely crash.

The problem is always in:

/build/linux-
2NWldV/linux-4.10.0/drivers/gpu/drm/i915/intel_display.c:4813
skylake_pfit_enable+0x140/0x160 [i915]

each time I get the message:

[drm:skylake_pfit_enable [i915]] *ERROR* Requesting pfit without getting
a scaler first

I attach the relevant kern.log parts.

[Bug 1687731] [NEW] System crash on a machine without swap

2017-05-02 Thread Alex Garel
Public bug reported:

>From a long time, I use a machine without swap, because most of the time
if I run out of memory, swap would save me at too high a cost (waiting
for a long time).

Yesterday, I upgraded from 16.10 to ubuntu 17.04 and changed my sessions
from unity to gnome.

The bug occurs as firefox is requesting more memory, and about 10/15% memory is
still free.
First Firefox freeze, I try to kill -SIGKILL it without success, then whole
system freezes. It happens three times today.

I attach the kern.log extracts reporting the problem
Each time I have the same message: kernel BUG at
/build/linux-2NWldV/linux-4.10.0/include/linux/swapops.h:129

There is no swap partition, and swapinness is set to 0.

[Bug 1492764] Re: [drm:intel_pipe_config_compare [i915]] *ERROR* mismatch in ips_enabled (expected 1, found 0)

2016-01-08 Thread Alex Garel
Hello, I have the same problem here. I am willing to test if possible, but I
would need help (Although I'm a programmer and a long time linux user, I've
never compiled a kernel).
In my case the problem only shows when I am using battery power.
It is also very random but the fight that it may be linked with application
using 3D acceleration seems possible.

and python2.5, so nothing really important), the problem was ubuntu
updater propose to run dpkg-reconfigure -a which is broken (failing on
