[Bug 1226191] [NEW] Brightness Control regression in 3.11 on Thinkpad X230
Public bug reported: Brightness control using Fn + F8/F9 has regressed from the 3.8 kernel used in 13.04. Expected: 9 levels of brightness adjustment using Function Keys Experienced: 5 levels of brightness adjustment with blank levels with "blank" levels where a key press results in no brightness change even though indicator showed change. Regression proved by reverting to 3.8 kernel resulting in expected behaviour. RE: [Bug 419333] Re: Changing hostname does not update the hosts and causes many admin apps to never start
I'm sorry I filed this bug against version 8.x and I have not seen it happen again, I have upgraded to 10 and think this issue should be closed. Try to open say Package Manager it will not start and error is Hostname not found (for the new hostname). *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 76768 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/76768 This is not a duplicate! The usb id is different, thus gspca ought to have been amended for that usb id. The link talks about a labtec camera, may well be same chipset, differing usb id. From what I understand requires a the id being added in the header for it to be working. The dupe post talks of tests against a different web cam. This web cam works under fedora 9 fine. So it is doable. I am no expert on ubuntu, else i would have downloaded the drivers and compiled them myself. uname -a Linux zume 2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP Thu Oct 30 04:18:38 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux more attached. Hi, The problem occurs in feisty. If it has been fixed for the next release, it's good. But if no one knows what triggered it and how it was fixed, then it's less good. :( Regards, Alexandre Lucas Nussbaum wrote: > Hi, > > I can't reproduce this problem in gutsy: doing a "require 'gtk2'" like > you did doesn't produce any warning. > > Feel free to reopen that bug report if you still see the problem. > > ** Changed in: ruby-gnome2 (Ubuntu) > Assignee: (unassigned) => Lucas Nussbaum >Status: New => Invalid > -- gtk2 is broken with ruby https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/132937 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 97294] default browser hardcoded firefox not a fake browser
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: checkgmail In checkgmail the default web browser is set to firefox, it would make much more sense to set it to something like x-www-browser to minimize the number of places where the user is supposed to select his web browser. ** Affects: checkgmail (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- default browser hardcoded firefox not a fake browser https://launchpad.net/bugs/97294 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 51570] Re: Graphics Card Fan stuck on 100% RPM - Annoyingly Loud
This bug seems to be fixed in Edgy, so yes - may as well close this now. Thanks! -- Graphics Card Fan stuck on 100% RPM - Annoyingly Loud https://launchpad.net/bugs/51570 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 66747] Re: Ubuntu Edgy build is (still) not bootable w/ jMicron Controller
I also have a similar problem with this hardware: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Abit AB9 1xIDE DVD RW - Slave 1X80GB Maxtor IDE Hard Drive - Master 2X SATA 2 Western Digital Hard Drives At first I could not even load the Final Release Edgy LiveCD as I kept getting "Error loading boot CD" errors which then told me to reboot, or it would get stuck at 8% while loading the Kernel. After reading around on ubuntuforums.org I read about disabling things like USB, so I did this and then I could boot the LiveCD. I managed to install Edgy perfectly with no problems. However, when I was told to restart my PC did not restart correctly - it ejected my CD which is normal, but then it didn't shutdown. It just hung there with a little bit of the progress bar left with no hard drive activity at all. I had to do a hard restart in the end. After I did the hard restart, GRUB loads fine but I do see some errors flash quickly on the page which appears after, they go too fast for me to see but they look very similar to the ones in the first post of this bug report. I then get shown usplash with the smallest bit of progress bar showing, but nothing loads and there is no hard drive activity. -- Ubuntu Edgy build is (still) not bootable w/ jMicron Controller https://launchpad.net/bugs/66747 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 59493] Master Volume Doesn't effect all channels
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager I think the bug is with the gnome-volume-manager - Basicly the Volume Control applet you can add to the Panel's. I have 5.1 surround sound, and to get my rear speakers working I have had to enable the Wave Surround Channel. This all works fine, but if I Mute or change the volume of the Master Channel it does not mute the other Channels. This is annoying as my rear speakers will still be playing when I want them Muted. ** Affects: gnome-volume-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Master Volume Doesn't effect all channels https://launchpad.net/bugs/59493 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 51570] Re: Graphics Card Fan stuck on 100% RPM - Annoyingly Loud
Thanks for the response Dennis, Their latest drvier is a RPM package though isn´t it, so how would I go about installing that in Dapper? Or does someone have a .deb floating around that I could install? [Bug 51570] Graphics Card Fan stuck on 100% RPM - Annoyingly Loud
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg-driver-fglrx When I first had the default Mesa drivers installed for my ATI X800XT Graphics Card, my Graphics Card Fan would adjust it´s RPM according to the temperature of the core. Once I installed the xorg-drvier-fglrx drivers, my Graphics Card Fan is stuck at 100% RPM constantly, this is loud! I don´t know if you can do anything about it because it´s more an ATI bug with there binary drvier, I think. ** Affects: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.17 (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Graphics Card Fan stuck on 100% RPM - Annoyingly Loud https://launchpad.net/bugs/51570 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 51530] Gnome Volume Control Master Does NOT affect all channels
Public bug reported: I have 5.1 surround sound, and a way I have found to get my rear speakers to work is to enable the Wave Surround channel in Gnome via the Volume Control. This is all good and works fine, however. The Master channel does NOT mute/Change the overall volume of the Wave Surround channel. This is annoying as when I press Mute on my keyboard, it will only mute my front speakers and not the rear ( The Wave Surround Channel ), so I still can't hear people speaking well. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Gnome Volume Control Master Does NOT affect all channels https://launchpad.net/bugs/51530 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
