Still having the same problem with Kubuntu 12.04.1 LTS. Any chance this

[Bug 49228] Re: kscreensaver-xsavers installed but screensavers from xscreensaver-gl missing

2011-09-27 Thread Alexander Blinne
I'm using Kubuntu natty only to find that this bug has reappeared. The
Files installed by kscreensaver-xsavers(-extra) are now located in
/usr/share/kde4/services/ScreenSavers but have TryExec=xscreensaver in
them, so xsavers are not shown by systemsettings. I have all the savers
installed, but don't want to have to install the xscreensaver package...

[Bug 818972] [NEW] Screen power management accidently activated by closing/reopening laptop lid

2011-07-31 Thread Alexander Blinne
Public bug reported:

Kubuntu natty narwhal, Ati Radeon X1250, Open source driver, kdebase-
workspace 4.6.2a-ubuntu5.1

When the laptop lid is closed and then reopened, the DPMS power
management will be enabled. I have disabled screen power management in
my energy profile using systemsettings-power management, which works
fine at first:

21:22:02 alex@firefly:~$ xset q|fgrep -A1 DPMS
DPMS (Energy Star):
  Standby: 600Suspend: 600Off: 600
  DPMS is Disabled

After closing and reopening the lid, dpms is enabled (and the screen
will be turned off after 10 minutes):

21:22:05 alex@firefly:~$ xset q|fgrep -A1 DPMS
DPMS (Energy Star):
  Standby: 600Suspend: 600Off: 600
  DPMS is Enabled
  Monitor is On

When i turn energy management on in systemsettings and then turn it back
off again, everything is fine (the time-outs have been changed, but that
doesn't matter if dpms is disabled) :

21:22:28 alex@firefly:~$ xset q|fgrep -A1 DPMS
DPMS (Energy Star):
  Standby: 21600Suspend: 32400Off: 43200

I would expect dpms to stay disabled, regardless of myself closing the
lid or not.

[Bug 544552] [NEW] krfb produces no uppercase characters when shift is pressed on remote clients keyboard

2010-03-22 Thread Alexander Blinne
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdenetwork

I have krfb running on current kubuntu karmic 64bit. I connect to it from a

German Keyboard layout, but i have heard of occurences of this bug on english
layouts too.

[Bug 145337] Re: Brightness key stopped working after update [Gutsy]

2008-03-23 Thread Alexander Blinne
Issue is fixed, kmilo now receives fakekey-events and forwards to
guidance-power-manager by a dcop call. guidance uses dbus in order to
tell hald to actually change brightness.

changelog entry:

kdeutils (4:3.5.8-1ubuntu7) hardy; urgency=low

  * debian/patches/kubuntu_14_kmilo_powermanager.diff:
Added Brightness Down Up key actions (DCOP call to Guidance
Power-Manager). Fixed all DCOP calls to recent change of
application top level name (power-manager - guidance).

 -- Luka Renko [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun, 10 Feb 2008 20:45:42 +0100

Workaround for gutsy:

edit scripts in /etc/acpi to use dcop-calls instead of acpi_fakekey.
the dcop-commands by luka renko sometimes don't work until acpid is manually
restarted (dcop can't attach to server).
the following calls work better as i see it:

dcop --all-sessions --all-users power-manager-`ps ax|grep -m 1 guidance|awk '{
print $1 }'` power-manager brightnessUp
dcop --all-sessions --all-users power-manager-`ps ax|grep -m 1 guidance|awk '{
print $1 }'` power-manager brightnessDown

I think this bug could now be closed.

I Installed Xubuntu from alternate CD and chose German Localization on
