Please close this bugreport. The bug occurs due to some rogue version of glib that appmenu pulled in. It also happens to all java application I tried, not only eclipse. [Bug 569971] [NEW] setting a custom symbol map in 64 bit version produces strange results
Public bug reported: Ubuntu version is 9.10 Package version is 3.4.3-10.6ubuntu2 Configuring a custom symbol map via the config file leads to unexpected results. Tested with DUNGEONS= option. Values seem to get excepted mod 128. The effect is that much of the ascii symbol table needed to display the dungeon can't be reached. Example: | for vertical walls corresponds to code 179. 179 mod 128 equals 51. So instead of | nethack displays 3 (which corresponds to code 51). ** Affects: nethack (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- setting a custom symbol map in 64 bit version produces strange results https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/569971 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 12154] Re: Nautilus should have a superuser mode
psylem: that may be so. BUT This bug was filed because it's an usability issue. That doesn't go away with nautilus-gksu. You can't expect the user to know of the package. It's not installed by default. Let's say you'd have to install a package to copy a file. Not a good workflow. Now if it were installed by default...That'd be much better, but still not optimal to me. -- Nautilus should have a superuser mode https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/12154 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 402223] [NEW] Use a VPN connection and/or proxy setting automatically when connected to a certain network
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager Hi there! This is actually a feature request. The use case: When I am at my university I need to use a given vpn network and proxy. I think many people are in a similar situation where they must use a given set of settings only when connected to a given network. The idea: The proxy settings allow the setup of places which are essentially a saved proxy setting one can easily switch to. This is a great feature which could also be implemented into Network Manager. The proxy settings places should be extended to Network Manager and there include vpn connections. They should be tied to a set of network connections. So when I connect to a cetain LAN or WLAN (even automatically) Network Manager switches to the corresponding place, so that my vpn connection and proxy settings are enabled automatically. The gain: Right now when I go to my university and power up the laptop, Network Manager automatically connects to the university's WLAN but I then have to enable the vpn and proxy settings manually. When later connecting to my home network, I have to change the proxy settings again. With my suggested feature that would all happen automatically. ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Use a VPN connection and/or proxy setting automatically when connected to a certain network https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/402223 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 12154] Re: Nautilus should have a superuser mode
Another use case: - you bought a new harddrive/usbstick - you created partitions and formated them with ext* - you fire up nautlius to start using them and sure enough, they appear in the places bar. - you click to mount them - now you try to copy files to them BUT they are owned by root and you have to go to the shell to change permissions. a newbie and userfriendly way would be to show a sudo dialog when changing permissions on files/folders you don't own. -- Nautilus should have a superuser mode https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/12154 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 382074] Re: New hard disk drive mounted read-only by default
I can see the same behavior here. Since you need a special permission to mount devices (you get asked for that the first time you try to mount sth and have to give a password to sudo or get root). These mounted devices should be mounted with user:usergroup rights. This is also consistent with the handling of USB mass storage devices. -- New hard disk drive mounted read-only by default https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/382074 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
