[Bug 1369969] [NEW] Middle button emulation works on lower buttons but not upper buttons on HP EliteBook 9470m
Public bug reported: On an HP EliteBook Folio 9470m laptop, middle-button emulation (pressing the left and right buttons simultaneously) works for the two buttons "below" the trackpad (farther away from the keyboard) but not for the two buttons "above" the trackpad (closer to the keyboard). Both sets of left and right buttons function normally as left and right "mouse" buttons when not pressed together. (Pressing the upper-left and lower- right (or vice-versa) buttons simultaneously also does not simulate a middle-button event.) [Bug 1313459] Re: Screen corruption with Radeon 6670
I did some more testing today. It seems one simple way to reproduce this is to just move the mouse pointer around on the login screen. At one point this even lead to a kernel panic (see attachement). Again, setting the power profile to something other than "default" seems to get rid of the problem. ** Attachment added: "kernel_panic.jpg" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1313459/+attachment/4099841/+files/kernel_panic.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1313459 Title: Screen corruption with Radeon 6670 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1313459/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

** Description changed: Unfortunately I have no reliable way of reproducing this issue, but it seems that after some time of using Ubuntu (especially when browsing websites with firefox) the graphics are getting corrupted. It starts with some small artifacts (single lines and pixels) and all of the sudden the entire screen is full of artifacts and the OS is basically unusable at this state. I can reproduce this problem with a 12.04 installation, running on a Lenovo ThinkPad R61. Opening one of the menus in the top panel and then suspending the computer seems to trigger this behaviour reliably. Steps to reproduce: 1. Click on the settings button to open the drop down menu (though any indicator menu will do) 2. Close the laptop lid to trigger suspension 3. Open the lid again In some instances the password prompt shows up after a second or so, but most of the time I get straight to the desktop without any prompt. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1083030 Title: Ubuntu 12.04 resumes from Suspend without password prompt To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1083030/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 364292] Re: Warning icon with no warning message on partitioner screen
I can still reproduce this with a current daily karmic. So I looked further into the issue and here is a simple patch that fixed it for me. I'm not familiar with the ubiquity code, so this is probably not the best way to fix this. Here is what happens: Near the end of "set_autopartition_choices" there is a call to "self.on_autopartition_toggled", which in turn calls "self.on_extra_combo_changed". There the warning gets hidden. Back in "set_autopartition_choices", there is then a call to "self.autopartition_choices_vbox.show_all()", which obviously results in the warning sign being shown again. (Therefore the warning will actually be hidden if you select manual partitioning and then switch back to the first option again) I hope my description isn't too confusing ;) but the attached file should pretty much explain it. ** Attachment added: "gtk_gui.diff" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/33913792/gtk_gui.diff -- Warning icon with no warning message on partitioner screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/364292 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 427822] Re: fsck says last write time in future
Okay my last comment wasn't quite correct. Of cource UTC is correctly set to "yes" when os-prober indicates that Ubuntu is the only operating system. So the thing with the wrong time might really be a VirtualBox bug. Now here is something interesting, I tried this out with Jaunty. I realised that the underlying problem exists there, too. The filesystem has a last mount time in the future, just as with Karmic. But Jaunty doesn't seem to check whether the last mount time is in the future. [Bug 427822] Re: fsck says last write time in future
Turns out that in /etc/default/rcS UTC was set to "yes", when instead it should've been "no" as I use a local timezone. So this is probably an installer bug after all. -- fsck says last write time in future https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/427822 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 427822] Re: fsck says last write time in future
I changed /etc/init/mountall.conf to print out the current time before it execs mountall: --- snip --- console output script echo "/etc/init/mountall.conf: `date`" . /etc/default/rcS --- /snip --- Now have a look at the attached picture. You can see that the output from mountall.conf contains the wrong date. At the very bottom I had tune2fs print out the last mount time and it's indeed the wrong one. Thus leading to an fsck error on next reboot. If I don't do a reboot but a shutdown instead, the error won't show up on next boot, because the time would be wrong again. Also notice that 'date' spits out the correct time after I was able to login. An installation on my physical machine has the issue, too. But it happens pretty randomly there and I haven't found a regularity (such as 'after each shutdown') as with VirtualBox. ** Attachment added: "Screenshot2.png" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/33442551/Screenshot2.png -- fsck says last write time in future https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/427822 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I just noticed that usplash _does_ fall back to the console. However there is quite some delay with seemingly no activity. Also this is still valid for a VirtualBox installation, where I first noticed the problem. [Bug 427822] Re: fsck says last write time in future
To follow up on my last post, the problem doesn't seem to be related to updates at all. Further tests have shown that the error can be produced everytime the system is rebootet - provided that there was at least one shutdown since the last reboot. (There just hasn't been the need to reboot except after updates that required it, so...) Public bug reported: Binary package hint: usplash I recently ran into a filesystem error on boot, where fsck couldn't automatically fix the problem and the user is expected to manually run fsck. However, now that usplash is active by default again, the system doesn't even indicate to the user what happened. It just seems to be frozen at the white Ubuntu logo. [Bug 427822] Re: fsck says last write time in future
> Was this the second time you booted the machine, or a different? This machine has been booted a couple of times already and it usually comes up without an error. > The bit about installing updates intrigues me, you're saying that updates result in this happening on the next reboot? Exactly. It doesn't seem to be coupled to any particular package or something like this. Last time there was only one single update (https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/karmic-changes/2009-October/010704.html). After update-manager was finished, I rebooted the machine with the fusa and got the error I posted above. I did some more tests and interestingly the error appears on the first _reboot_ after an update. It seems as if there can be any number of shut down/start up cycles inbetween - those won't trigger the error. I tested different variants of that a couple of times and it seems to be reproducible. By the way, it doesn't matter if I have the VirtualBox guest additions installed or not. [Bug 230636] [NEW] Base/Forms - wrong navigation bar behaviour with subforms
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org I'm using Openoffice.org 1:2.4.0-3ubuntu6 on a hardy system. First let me summarize the problem, then I'm going to explain the steps you can reproduce on the attached sample database-document. What I wanted to do: - Prevent the main navigation bar to operate on the subform when a user focused that subform What I did: - Setting the subform's "Navigation bar"- property to "Parent Form" Expected behaviour: - When a user is working on some data in the subform, this does not affect the main record navigation bar at the bottom Actual behaviour: - The navigation bar indeed shows the right record number ("Record x of y") coming from the parent form; however the "Previous/Next Record"-arrows seem to still depend on the selected record in the subform - possibly hindering the user to switch to the next/previous parent record Steps to reproduce: 1. Open the attached file 2. Open the "pr"-form in edit mode 3. Right Click on the Subform and choose "Form..." 4. Notice that in the "Data"-tab the "Navigation bar"-property is set to "Parent Form" 5. Open the form normally 6. Use the navigation bar at the bottom to scroll through the records... works okay so far 7. Now click in the subform and select one of - the very first subrecord - the very last subrecord - one in between 8.
