[Bug 1015010] Re: Cannot connect to Samsung Galaxy S III

2013-02-27 Thread Alexander Winizki
I can confirm what #14 wrote - I use Ubuntu 12.04 and Samsung Galaxy
SIII + Android 4.1; installed only gmtp and its dependencies and it
works with gMTP as described in #14 - but don't hit connect before the
phone has made beep -beep because then it won't work either. In
Nautilus, the access to the phone is still write-only.

this bug affects me, but I don't know how to test the deb packages. Tried
following: downloaded the packages, then right clicked on them in the file
manager (first the headers, then the image) and chosen Open with Ubuntu
Software center. When the Ubuntu Software center opened showing the package,
clicked on install. Received no feedback about the progress of the operation
and whether it was completed or not. Waited until no processes containing
dpkg in their names were running any more. Then, during reboot, no new kernel
appears in the Grub boot menu. What now?

[Bug 884096] [NEW] Most Java programs are displayed as question marks in the Unity launcher

2011-10-31 Thread Alexander Winizki
Public bug reported:

Example: install JEdit from the software centre and then launch it from
the dash. In the dash, there appears a correct icon for the program. But
in the Launcher, only a question mark is displayed. The tooltip for the
window reads win0. The same applies to Oracle sqldeveloper if the user
creates an appropriate .desktop file for it in /usr/share/applications.
The eclipse IDE is an exception - it is displayed correctly

[Bug 883438] [NEW] Kernel 3.0 (11.10 default kernel) won't boot unless acpi=off, worked fine with the default kernels of the 3 previous releases

2011-10-29 Thread Alexander Winizki
Public bug reported:

Recently I upgraded from 11.04 to 11.10. Now the computer boots only
with the default kernel and acpi=off or with the 2.6.28 kernel left from
11.04 with default options. If I try to boot with kernel 3.0, the
computer freezes one or two seconds after I hit Enter in the Grub menu.
The caps lock control LED on the keyboard doesn't respond to the caps
lock button. The machine also doesn't react to Ctrl+Alt+Delete. This
issue seems to have no relation to upgrading since booting from the
LUbuntu 11.10 Desktop CD leads to the same results while it has always
worked with the previous releases.

[Bug 883441] [NEW] Kernel 3.0 (11.10 default kernel) won't boot unless acpi=off, worked fine with the default kernels of the 3 previous releases

2011-10-29 Thread Alexander Winizki
Public bug reported:

Just upgraded from 11.04 to 11.10 and now the computer freezes a few
seconds after I hit enter in the Grub start menu (the caps lock
indicator LED on the keyboard does not react to the caps lock button). I
have found out two solutions for this: either boot the old 2.6.38 kernel
left over from the 11.04 installation (with default boot options) or add
acpi=off to the boot options of the 3.0 kernel. I think both of these
options are unsatisfactory because with acpi=off I cannot shut down
automatically and 2.6.38 won't be supported forever (I will receive no
security updates for the 2.6.38 under Oneiric, will I?). So should I
file a bug about this (found no similar bugs from tha last month)? Note
that under 10.04, 10.10 and 11.04 the computer booted with default
options and with no problems. The machine is a Pentium 4 with an Intel
mainboard.

When I boot the 3.0 kernel without acpi=off, then it seems to me that no
messages are written into the syslog at all. If I boot 3.0 with the
recovery option, I see some kernel messages on the screen and then it
freezes.

Plrase hold on another day or two. We are currently searching for that
CD in our messy working room. I have already installed the Oneiric alpha

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be
reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the

release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release

My PC is configured as a dual boot system with Windows XP beside

[Bug 724618] Re: a specific CD is not automounted on insertion

2011-08-19 Thread Alexander Winizki
I have tested it now and: yes! The automount works in the current
Oneiric alpha! In Natty it doesn't.

[Bug 724618] [NEW] a specific CD is not automounted on insertion

2011-02-24 Thread Alexander Winizki
Public bug reported:

Today my wife brought me a CDROM which is not mounted automatically when
inserted. On the other hand, executing mount /dev/cdrom /media/cdrom -t
iso9660 manually works without any problems. The problem happens only
with this CD, all others are automounted without problems. The CD is
burnt, not pressed and is less than one month old. Copying 96 MB of data
from it to the hard disk goes at normal speed. The same problem occurs
on another laptop running fully updated Ubuntu 10.04.

My PC is configured as a dual boot system with Windows XP beside Ubuntu.
Under Windows XP on this computer, the questionable CD is automounted
with no problems. I assume there must be something like a not closed
session or other non-standart feature with this CD. Unfortunately i do
not know how to verify this. I don't dare to explain the manual mount
command to my wife.

[Bug 513687] [NEW] Properties Window shows no image information on some image files

2010-01-28 Thread Alexander Winizki
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Right-click on an image file, then select Properties. In the dialog
window that opens, select the Image tab. Then, on some files, the
message Image information could not be loaded appears. I tried jpeg,
gif and png images. The error seems to be independent of the image
format.

[Bug 69238] Re: Crash while opening openoffice

2007-02-02 Thread Alexander Winizki
Installed a fresh Ubuntu 6.10 on a freshly formatted partition - OO works fine.
Installed newest ATI binary fglrx drivers - and I get the same problem
mentioned here.
then I started some program in/usr/lib/openoffice/program directory and this
fixed the problem.

Now the problem suddenly reappeared (cant remember doing anything special) and I
cannot fix it any more
