I tried what you wrote, and I have the same issue with gmail.
Interesting. Then, it would be a clipboard bug?

[Bug 678264] [NEW] Can't Copy and paste from tomboy to message body

2010-11-21 Thread Alexandre Racine
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: thunderbird

I am not sure if this is a tomboy, clipboard or thunderbird bug, so I'll
report here and hopefully we can find it :)

Write something in tomboy, copy the text, paste it in a new message body, it
does not work.
Paste the same text in the title, it works!
Paste the same text in another program (text editor), it works

I'll add a screen shot.

[Bug 362783] Re: fist double-click does nothing, second opens eog but not image

2010-10-07 Thread Alexandre Racine
Hi all, I am reopening this bug, and would like some people to try
opening the JPG file with eog attached to this post.

I had this problem with some files... but the problem seems more or less
intermitent. But with this file, almost all the time. You can also try
to open the file with the command line.

If some people confirm this, I'll open a bug report on bugzilla if
Ubuntu 10.10 and eog 2.32 does the problem too.

[Bug 197820] Re: No window decorations

2009-06-16 Thread Alexandre Racine
In my case, to make everything work, I had to add something to
applications startup (I am not sure about the translation since I use
a French system) OR in a terminal screen type gnome-session-properties

You can test this option with the command line interface to see if it
works before addind it to the gnome-session-properties:

compiz --replace

This is, of course, a workaround, not the solution.

[Bug 316825] [NEW] poedit is not in the list of open with another application

2009-01-13 Thread Alexandre Racine
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: poedit

Ubuntu 8.10
poedit 1.3.9 (That comes with Ubuntu)
Nautilus 2.24.1

I don't know what app is responsable for this bug so I listed all
versions up here.

In nautilus, right clic on a file, example logintoboggan.pot, and
choose open with another application. poedit is not in the list.

Thanks.

[Bug 288470] Re: digikam cannot download pictures due to gvfsd-gphoto2

2008-11-16 Thread Alexandre Racine
I have the same problem.

The less drastic workaround that I have is to wait for the popup, then
choose Unmount instead of a software or an action and you will be able
to use digikam after that for importing pictures.

The thing is, maybe Unmount should be in the action list. So you could say
always unmount since using the do nothing action still interfere with
digikam.

[Bug 292672] Re: digikam expects trash to be in ~/Desktop/Trash

2008-11-08 Thread Alexandre Racine
I corrected what sim wrote... tested and it does work correctly (the
file goes in the trash)

Open file ~/.kde/share/config/kdeglobals in a text editor.
Change the line

Trash[$e]=$HOME/Desktop/Trash/

to:

Trash[$e]=$HOME/.local/share/Trash/files

Restart digikam and now the delete function works.

Please note that this is a far featch bug. KDE follow freedesktop.org
standard and gnome does not like where should the trash goes. Of course,
should the digikam package for Ubuntu work? Of course. So the question
is, why does it not work now?

[Bug 150193] Re: Remote Login via XDMCP is not working in Ubuntu Gusty/7.10

Hendy, try the simple mode.

More details: On your remote machine, go in system - admin - connection
Window (this is a translation, I don't know the correct terms in
English), choose remote and then you have 3 choices. Deactivated,
identical to local connection, or simple. Use the simple one.

[Bug 150193] Re: Remote Login via XDMCP is not working in Ubuntu Gusty/7.10

2008-02-25 Thread Alexandre Racine
Follow up. The weird part.

So I reinstalled my old machine with gutsy (7.10) and I could connect
from my new machine gutsy with terminal server and xnest in XDMCP mode..
I put the old machine in a closet ;) and connect to it and it work, do
some things and poof. It's gone. Can't connect to it anymore with XDMCP.
It does work with ssh -X -Y and I can run some graphical apps with this.

So I search the web, try those two patch (32bit and 64bit) and try it
again. Does not work again. I switch to the simple mode type on the
remote machine and it works. Just like that.

Can some confirm that this is actually happening? Simple mode works and
same has local does not work? Should I open a new bug report or this
is the same? Thanks

[Bug 21175] Grub removes boot options when changing kernel version

2008-02-07 Thread Alexandre Racine
I don't think this is related to Windows partitions, since I updated the
kernel lately to 2.6.22-14 with the update manager and my grub menu was
clean fresh. Just like a new install. I did made some modifications to
the menu. I moved the Vista option second, added a MEM=3000 to my Ubuntu
boot options, but all gone after this update.

Oddly, my nvidia drivers installed with Envy are still working
perfectly.

[Bug 179143] Re: freeze when coping huge files (x64)

2008-01-02 Thread Alexandre Racine
Well, after some more digging...

There seems to be a problem with the device or the driver.
http://lkml.org/lkml/2007/6/24/139

Indeed, booting with mem=3072M does resolve the problem. But still, by
doing so, 1GB goes to the trash.

Tests results...

scp -l 2 freeze after 5 minutes or so.
scp -l 1 freeze after 15 minutes or so.
scp -l 5000 freeze, or reboot after more then 3 hours.

I don't know for the third since I went to do something. Calculating on
the data that was transfered, it is approximatly 3 hours. That's a
little more than 4GB.

[Bug 179143] freeze when coping huge files (x64)

2007-12-28 Thread Alexandre Racine
Public bug reported:

Hi all,

I have this weird bug. When copying files from my other machine for some
time, to transfert data, it hard freeze. Only a reboot does the trick.
Since this is a new machine, I tought it could be bad memory or hard
drive, but everything is fine (memtest ok after 16 pass, and WD official
software with SMART, normal test and extensive test says PASS).

The only little hint that I could get, is a kernel dump in the
/var/log/message file. See below.

-memtest+ 16 passes = PASS
-hardrive WD SMART, normal and extensive test = PASS
-Copying huge files with SCP. freeze
-Copying huge files with rsync, freeze
-Copying huge files in nautilus, freeze
-Everything working in Vista? Yes (dual boot)
-This is NOT RELATED to the ndiswrapper bugs since it is not installed

So, what should I try next?

[Bug 172719] eog is slow at loading JPG

2007-11-28 Thread Alexandre Racine
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eog

Mabey I am hard, but I am using irfanview on my Ubuntu machine with wine
and the software is blazing fast compare to eog.

For a small test, I loaded the first picture of 133 and started to look at the
pictures as fast has I can for 15 seconds.
With Irfanview, I go from 1 to 70 in 15 seconds.
With eog, I go from 1 to 13 in 15 seconds.

More notes

-eog used my CPU even after stopping the test.
-After loading the first image, Irfanview use 21MB, eog use 26,2MB
-After looking at 100 pictures, irfanview use 23,1MB, eog use 30,6MB
-eog use way more CPU power to do anything.

Been really slow is a bug. Not a critical one, but still one.

[Bug 136650] Re: [Gutsy] XGL halves nvidia driver 100.14.11 performance

2007-10-29 Thread Alexandre Racine
I have gutsy 7.10 too, and since then xgl is taking from 100MB at boot
to 400MB and is slowing down my machine a lot! I only have a nVidia
GeForce 3, but it was faster before!

mmm, guys? ... after doing sudo apt-get remove xserver-xgl, what else
have you done? Because now I don't have any window borders :(

Thanks

[Bug 155633] Can't update firefox with the update menu?

2007-10-21 Thread Alexandre Racine
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

I am currently with Gusty (7.10) and firefox version 2.0.0.6. Before my
upgrade I had version 2.0.0.8 and the current menu to update firefox in
firefox is grey.

Is this a bug?
