[Bug 1693056] [NEW] do-release-upgrade hangs at The user 'syslog' is already a member of 'adm' every single time

2017-05-23 Thread amar

Whenever I try to run any command that is to reinstall/fix rsylog or try to
upgrade my Ubuntu server (by running `do-release-upgrade`) it ends in:

> Reading cache
>
> Checking package manager
>
> Setting up rsyslog (8.12.0-1ubuntu2) ...

> The user 'syslog' is already a member of 'adm'.

Because of this I am locked on **Ubuntu 15.10**.

**Note**: I started getting this error after I upgraded from `15.04`
when system was setting up after upgrade to `15.10`. I was asked to
choose version and it said `N` for default or existing version and I
went for it.

What I expect: To peacefully upgrade my VPS Ubuntu version to 16.04.

2016-12-18 Thread Amar
apport information

** Description changed:

As I visited to many website seeking for solution , I get the message to
upgrade your kernel to start using multi-touch, but is there any hack so
I can use multi touch in e450.

  * 2 fingers scrolling not working.
  * Double click not so much efficient, even I have to make triple click on
lappy to realise it as double click.

[Bug 763390] Re: Hibernation problem in Acer Aspire one 532H After Installing Updates

2011-05-15 Thread Amar
Here's an interesting trick, that solved the problem for me, sort of:

When the screen hangs after waking up from hibernate, go into _suspend_
and wake back up from suspend. That should give you back a normal
screen.

Perhaps this trick might work for you too (as a kluge solution) until
the driver/whatever other issue gets resolved.

Hi,

I downloaded 64bit Maverick from location "
http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download"; and did a fresh install
on my 64bit hardware.
I found it is displaying correct info in "Abount Ubuntu". Not sure about
32bit.

2.

In the System -> About Ubuntu. It should show as "you are using Ubuntu 10.10

[Bug 252812] [NEW] ubuntu hangs on inserting sd card

2008-07-28 Thread Amar
Public bug reported:

1) Using 8.0.4. Update Manager shows i am up to date.
2) Using kernel image 2.6.24
3) After inserting the sd card into the built in slot, ubuntu hangs within a
few seconds. The first time this happened, ubuntu got hung as soon as the SD
card image appeared on the desktop. Next time, it stayed there for a few
seconds and as soon as F-Spot started downloading images, it got hung. Tried
again and it got hung as soon as i inserted the card.
When ubuntu got hung, you could see a frozen desktop. Nothing changed..no mouse
movements. Had to reboot.
4) Expected the card to get auto-mounted (which i think it did, since i could
see the image on desktop), and ubuntu to be stable while the pictures were
download from the card by any Photo Manager application.
5) F-Spot Photo Mgr version i am using is 0.4.3.1.
Attached are the logs for the first time it got hung.

Thanks,
Amar

Re: [Bug 248080] Re: Need latest version of xine-lib to fix problem with playing mp4

Reinhard,
Adding
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/motumedia/ubuntu intrepid main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/motumedia/ubuntu intrepid mainto my repository
list shows me version 1.1.12-2 of libxine1, which is not allowed to be
installed due to lower version of plugins and misc-plugins.

Am i doing something wrong here? Should the repos be something
different? I see version 1.1.14 on
https://launchpad.net/~motumedia/+archive. How do i get synaptic to
reflect that? I am running Ubuntu 8.04

Thanks for your help.

The latest xine-lib release (1.1.14) is already available in intrepid.

For hardy and earlier, please use the motumedia PPA archive:

I think Darkrains patch will solve my problem. However, I'm new to linux
and ubuntu, I would be grateful if someone can advise me on how to apply
this patch.

[Bug 137559] Re: [gutsy] failed to initialize hal

2008-03-14 Thread Amar Singh
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 25931 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/25931

This bug has been in many Ubuntu versions. From research, I can just say
that you should:

Copy the file "S12dbus" from /etc/rc3.d/ to /etc/rc2.d/ (If "S12dbus" is
not already in /etc/rc2.d/).

If that does not work, try "sudo dpkg-reconfigure hal" (without the
quotes) in a terminal.

If you try either of these ways, I recommend you restart to see if the
message stops appearing and that you can connect to the internet.

If that does not work either, then you may have to type this in a
terminal each time you use your computer:

"sudo /etc/init.d/dbus restart" (without the quotes)

[Bug 197762] [NEW] file transfer on USB disk slows down with gvfs

2008-03-02 Thread Amar Boudjerida
Public bug reported:

When transferring large files (800meg) or even medium-size files (200meg), the
transfer rate decreases constantly. It starts at around 4meg/sec and goes down
to even less than 800kb/s. When I cancel the download and start it over again,
the transfer rate comes back up to 4meg/sec.
I am using Nautilus on Ubuntu 8.04 (hardy heron)

[Bug 85907] Re: [feisty] fglrx does not support older cards

2007-05-14 Thread Amar
I agree with denix.. I run linux coz its a good choice.. I have been
facing this problem since upgrade. I tried all possible solutions.
Downgrading to xorg 7.1 is not really a solution. if that is the case
what is point in upgrading to fiesty. I was really happy with 6.10. I am
unable to use my Dell 2007 monitor just coz of this problem. please
please please solve this issue.
