[Bug 77025] hibernate fails on feisty with sata hdd

2006-12-23 Thread Amnon82
Public bug reported:

After I restart my machine after I shutted it down with hibernate I got
a similar message like this:

[ 4574.193809] ata2: EH in ADMA mode, notifier 0x0 notifier_error 0x0 gen_ctl
0x1501000 status 0x400
[ 4574.193826] ata2: CPB 0: ctl_flags 0x1f, resp_flags 0x1
[ 4574.193835] ata2: CPB 1: ctl_flags 0x1f, resp_flags 0x2
[ 4574.193843] ata2: CPB 2: ctl_flags 0x1f, resp_flags 0x1
[ 4574.193851] ata2: CPB 3: ctl_flags 0x1f, resp_flags 0x1

And then messages with "Write-error on swap-device"

Then I pushed the reset button and Ubuntu Feisty started normal. During
the hibernate I got also error messages. Where can I find them to post
them here?

K, it works also with the new glib 2.0. The one I uploaded works also
with the old glib ;) but I think there is no need for it :( ...

@pappan: I realy want to post you the log. How do I run the command and
getting something into the log. It is still empty. I tried the 1. thing
with and without sudo.

For the second thing you mentioned:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ kill `pidof gnome-screensaver`; gnome-screensaver

This is not a supported use of GTK+. You must create a helper
program instead. For further details, see:

[Bug 75040] Re: [Feisty] Grub won't update menu.lst when you install kernels

2006-12-08 Thread Amnon82
** Summary changed:

- [Feisty] Grub won't update menu.lst when you install older kernels.
+ [Feisty] Grub won't update menu.lst when you install kernels

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: grub

  This is what was in the menu.lst (I cutted out the commented lines):

  title Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.19-7-generic
  root  (hd0,0)
  kernel/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.19-7-generic
root=UUID=bd1adc65-feab-4fde-a1c8-58f21c5ef27d ro quiet splash
  initrd/boot/initrd.img-2.6.19-7-generic
  quiet
  savedefault

  title Ubuntumemtest86+
  root  (hd0,0)
  kernel/boot/memtest86+.bin
  quiet

  I had to add this to the menu.lst after I installed nvida-glx manually:

- title Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.19-6-386
+ title Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.19-7-386
  root  (hd0,0)
- kernel/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.19-6-386
root=UUID=bd1adc65-feab-4fde-a1c8-58f21c5ef27d ro quiet splash
- initrd/boot/initrd.img-2.6.19-6-386
+ kernel/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.19-7-386
root=UUID=bd1adc65-feab-4fde-a1c8-58f21c5ef27d ro quiet splash
+ initrd/boot/initrd.img-2.6.19-7-386
  quiet
  savedefault

- ... so I can boot into my machine. Seems it only updates the menu.lst
- when you install newer kernels and not older ones.
+ ... so I can boot into my machine. Seems it won't updates the menu.lst
+ when you install a kernel. You have to do it manually. I tried it with
+ kernel 2.6.19-6-386 and kernel 2.6.19-7-386.

  Only that you know.

[Bug 75040] [Feisty] Grub won't update menu.lst when you install older kernels.

2006-12-08 Thread Amnon82
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: grub

This is what was in the menu.lst (I cutted out the commented lines):

title   Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.19-7-generic
root(hd0,0)
kernel  /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.19-7-generic
root=UUID=bd1adc65-feab-4fde-a1c8-58f21c5ef27d ro quiet splash
initrd  /boot/initrd.img-2.6.19-7-generic
quiet
savedefault

title   Ubuntumemtest86+
root(hd0,0)
kernel  /boot/memtest86+.bin
quiet

I had to add this to the menu.lst after I installed nvida-glx manually:

title   Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.19-6-386
root(hd0,0)
kernel  /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.19-6-386
root=UUID=bd1adc65-feab-4fde-a1c8-58f21c5ef27d ro quiet splash
initrd  /boot/initrd.img-2.6.19-6-386
quiet
savedefault

... so I can boot into my machine. Seems it only updates the menu.lst
when you install newer kernels and not older ones.

Only that you know.
