[Bug 1921466] [NEW] Settings App not opening on Primary Monitor
Public bug reported: After clean installation of Ubuntu 20.04 LTS I configured my second monitor and set it as my main monitor. When I change the monitor sides and change the primary monitor, the settings app is automatically moved to the laptop monitor (ie the current secondary monitor which was primary but is not now). Then every time I open the Settings app hereafter, it opens in the secondary monitor even if the pointer is on the primary. This only happens to the settings app, and I think because that is the only one open at the time of assigning primary monitor What was Expected: When opening Settings app - it should open on the monitor where the pointer is at. [Bug 1780677] Re: X session crash after resuming from suspend
I really appreciate how this community is seriously working and I don't want to offend anyone but the importance of this bug is clearly very high because you have to imagine that after running a Matlab script for several hours or working on a long document or having a scientific flow of work then you have a pause for some time then you go back to work to discover that either the computer is suspended or your monitor is "asleep" and by pushing a key on the keyboard there is a complete weird pixelized colorful screen !!! You are forced to perform a "forced shutdown" by moving back to terminal ctrl+alt+F3 in my case then 'sudo shutdown' or by pushing the shutdown button in worst scenarios. So this bug is really annoying and even with ubuntu 20.04, I'm still having the same problem. I hope someone will get interested to give us a solution. The screen is acting really weird after suspend or after the monitor goes off and when you try to log in you will see the picture attached to this message. For this example, run a long echo command, such as: echo joi fowiejf fsweiofj woifj weiof weif wioejf weif woifjw ofwioe fdwiojf wfw fiowejfeddjj fjwepf fweijf fwekfnwe fwef wefw efe fewf wef wef 2. Use the up arrow key to go back to the long command you entered 4. Press the home button. The cursor goes to the wrong location, behind the start of the actual command and the start of where the command would be had it not been for the printf command. Then move the cursor to just before the echo statement, and type less to change echo to lessecho (a version of echo which expands meta characters). You should notice what the problem is now, the location your cursor appears to be at is not the actual location in the command, but where it would be if the printf command had not just been run. [Bug 995014] Re: vlc controls stay after exit full screen
K. The time I reported this, they didn't, as far as I remember, which I feel is correct as the seek bar in the window and the one in these separate controls display different duration. Today, two different things happened: 1 They do work with the video getting re-sized but without any borders or controls attached around it with only these controls remaining from the full screen and the seek bar displaying the correct duration. 2 The video re-sized with no controls at all. (Attached) It does not happen every time. It's kinda tricky. I don't know how it happened the first time, but now, I go full screen, Alt+Tab to Chrome (v 18.0.1025.168), and drag the title bar down... It surely has something to do with Chrome. When I run VLC in full screen and Alt+Tab to a sized window of Chrome and choose maximize it does happen but in kinda background and VLC (still full screen) becomes the active window again...
