[Bug 1510970] Re: Intel driver crashes on Ubuntu 15.10

2016-05-03 Thread Anders Olsson
I'm still experiencing this on 16.04. Switching to UXA acceleration
fixes the problem. I'm on a Dell XPS 13 9350, with a Skylake i7-6500U
CPU.

Not sure about the w command but the welcome message appearing twice
surely must be a bug? Or is this expected behavior? I get one welcome
message for 10.04.1 and one for 10.10, this is a copy/paste from the
terminal:

[Bug 647174] Re: Since update welcome message appears twice on ssh login w command does not show any info

2010-10-17 Thread Anders Olsson
I should also add that my mouse and keyboard stopped working during the
installation so I had to ssh to the machine, kill the installation
process and then run

sudo dpkg --configure -a

to finish the process. I don't know if this is caused by something that
went wrong during the upgrade.

Actually I remember the disk being full so the host did not boot

reason for the corruption of the guest, though it shouldn't happen

[Bug 469419] Re: KVM machines became corrupted after reboot (i386 only)

2010-05-24 Thread Anders Olsson
I have also encountered what seems to be data corruption with a karmic
i386 kvm host after rebooting (actually I stopped the guest, rebooted
the host and now I can't start the guest again). I get a kernel panic
because of a bad ELF header. The guest is also karmic i386. It has
worked fine for a while, I have done maybe 10 reboots earlier with this
guest. I can provide more details if requested.

Are there any workarounds? Do I have a chance of saving my guest somehow
by running an fsck or similar on the image?

2010-05-17 Thread Anders Olsson
Same problem here, regardless of what I select I see 6 random digits
flashing by and then the message telling me that pairing has failed.
This is in Karmic (MacBook Pro) and Lucid (Acer 1810TZ). Blueman and
bluez-gnome can pair just fine (tested in Karmic). Try

$ sudo apt-get install blueman
$ blueman-applet

and click on the bluetooth icon and go from there. My unit is a Holux

though.

[Bug 414134] Re: Windows disappear if resolution is changed to something smaller than window size

2009-09-15 Thread Anders Olsson
I see the exact same behavior, when I switch to a lower resolution
certain windows disappear from the window list and from the desktop. I
did not realize before reading this bug that the ones that disappear are
those that are larger than the resolution I'm switching to (maximized
windows do not disappear though).

I can also confirm that it only manifests itself in compiz, the
workaround I'm using to get my windows back is using the effects tab in
the appearance settings window (not sure what the exact English names
are) and switching to none and then back to the normal setting.

I experience the exact same thing on two different computers, one Dell
D620 and one MacBook Pro, both with Nvidia graphics and I'm using the
nvidia-settings application to switch resolutions. It seems that Kai is
using Intel graphics so this should not be hardware dependent. The
MacBook is using a fresh install of 9.04 amd64 and the Dell has been
upgraded from 8.04 or 7.10 or similar. This problem has existed on my
Dell since atleast 8.10.

[Bug 332833] Re: pam_mount(pam_mount.c:100): unknown pam_mount option use_first_pass

2009-04-30 Thread Anders Olsson
I think that's true, the message is harmless. The reason that my luks-
encrypted partition did not mount was because I accidentally overwrote
/etc/security/pam_mount.conf.xml during the upgrade. Now it works.

I also removed the use_first_pass option from /etc/pam.d/common-pammount
so that it contains

auth optional pam_mount.so
session optional pam_mount.so

and I no longer get the message.

[Bug 339489] Re: [Intrepid] Blank screen on boot using Nvidia accelerated drivers

2009-03-17 Thread Anders Olsson
I have the same symptoms here, after I did a reboot this morning
everything goes blank as soon as X starts. It seems like some upgrade
has broke something, I don't upgrade often so it might have been a not
so recent upgrade. Not sure it is the nvidia driver itself though, as
the same thing happens both with both versions 96 and 177 that I have
tried.

I can't reach any of the terminals either (Ctrl+Alt+(F1-F6)) they are
also blank, it seems the video card is just messed up. I can't shutdown
X either, using /etc/init.d/gdm restart, it gives no error but stopping
gdm takes several seconds and when starting nothing changes (I do this
by first logging in using ssh).

If I do a

$ sudo reboot

... then the system won't startup correctly until I do an fsck. I don't
know if this is related but I can do that just fine if I don't start X
with the nvidia driver.

My solution for now is to use the nv driver, which works fine. I've even
tried moving the disk to another computer (another, much newer Dell
laptop, probably also nvidia) and get the same results - a blank screen.

[Bug 295990] Re: Keyboard layout reset after attaching USB keyboard

2009-01-17 Thread Anders Olsson
That sound's related to my problem that I described above. I remember
messing around with keyboard settings in gconf-editor, and I think it
was something I changed in kbd.sysbackup that made a difference, just
use the search function in gconf-editor to find it. Now everything works

[Bug 295990] Re: Keyboard layout reset after attaching USB keyboard

2008-11-24 Thread Anders Olsson
My problem is possibly related. After upgrading to Intrepid, the layout
on the laptop keyboard and the usb keyboard is no longer Swedish (it's
probably English). If I unplug and then plug in the usb keyboard - then
the layout is Swedish on that keyboard but still English on the laptop.
In control center the default layout is Swedish.

[Bug 174872] Re: Crash (inkscape 0.45.1-1) when exporting drawing (or blank page) to PNG

2008-03-11 Thread Anders Olsson
I confirmed 3 months ago, see above, that it works fine with the English
locale and that it crashes with the Swedish locale. This is still the
case for me using 0.45.1-1ubuntu5 on 7.10, and it is consistent with all
above comments that this probably hasn't been fixed.

This crash is probably specific to the Swedish locale (or possibly to
non-English ones in general) because that is also what the submitter of
this bug used.

I got the same problem with my Canon LiDE 20. This thread

then it works. Of course there is something broken here, but if you

hplip.

[Bug 106776] Re: [regression] Scanning fails with Canon FB630U in Feisty

2007-06-02 Thread Anders Olsson
It seems I rushed to a conclusion. I managed to get a preview from xsane
and I don't get the error message anymore, but I still can't scan using
xsane. Sometimes the preview worksm but mostly not, scanning never
works. I get no error messages, getting a preview takes some time and
returns a fully black image. Same with scanning, no error message I get
the nice progress bar and when it completes I get a black image. No
noise from the scanner.

Using scanimage seems to consistently work fine though, I have googled
some and searched the sane mailinglists but no luck there.

[Bug 88874] Re: Can't edit anything in alacarte

2007-03-25 Thread Anders Olsson
I haven't yet figured out the cause of this. I'm seeing various other
strange behavior also, such as nautilus windows needs to be refreshed
manually in order to see changes.

On rare occasions all my menu entries are be duplicated, not the
categories them selves but for example in Internet I have two entries
for Evolution, two for Firefox and so on.

Anyway I'm going to wipe this installation and install Feisty soon so I
won't bother investigating this further. I haven't seen anyone else with
similar problems so I would vote for closing it altogether.

[Bug 88874] Update

2007-03-02 Thread Anders Olsson
After reboot it seems that all changes I made in alacarte was applied to
the menu. So although the alacarte UI and the menu itself didn't display
any changes, they would appear after a reboot, and I could also use
alacarte properly after the reboot.

Now I'm back to square one again however, I can't edit anything. I'll
try to investigate this further and get back with an update later.

[Bug 88874] Can't edit anything in alacarte

2007-03-01 Thread Anders Olsson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: alacarte

I can't seem to edit anything in alacarte any more. There's no crashing
or freezing, no output in the console except

/var/lib/python-support/python2.4/gtk-2.0/bonobo/__init__.py:
inconsistent use of tabs and spaces in indentation

If I try to tick one of the items nothing happens, if I press an arrow
to reorder nothing happens. If I try to create a new item the dialog
pops and I can enter all values and press ok but there's no change. I
used to be able use alacarte, don't know what's changed.

The symptoms are similar to bug 66705 but the cause is not the same, my
~/.locals is owned by me.

** Affects: alacarte (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: Unconfirmed

[Bug 88874] Re: Can't edit anything in alacarte

2007-03-01 Thread Anders Olsson
I can't reproduce that message, maybe because that module is already
loaded somewhere when I start alacarte again? Anyway, this is what I get
when checking that file:

~$ python -tt /var/lib/python-support/python2.4/gtk-2.0/bonobo/__init__.py
  File /var/lib/python-support/python2.4/gtk-2.0/bonobo/__init__.py, line 17
self.__bobj.connect(destroy, self.__destroy)
 ^
TabError: inconsistent use of tabs and spaces in indentation

I use alacarte 0.10.1 and Edgy. I don't know what package this file is
part of? I have version 0.5.3ubuntu1 of python-support.

[Bug 73799] Re: Crash when I try autocomplete table names

2006-12-12 Thread Anders Olsson
I seem to have the same problem. Anytime I press Ctrl + Space inside the
text box for entering sql I get a segmentation fault:

Segmenteringsfel (core dumped)

This is not just when autocompleting table names but every time I press
Ctrl + Space. I have done a quick search in upstream bug database
(http://bugs.mysql.com) but found nothing.

[Bug 62986] Re: edgy installer randomly hangs on Core 2 Duo, Dell D620

2006-11-09 Thread Anders Olsson
I also had problems using the installer on my Core 2 Duo, Dell D620. I
don't remember the exact symptoms because it was a while ago. One
interesting thing to note was that I think I tried to install four times
and on the fourth time it succeeded. The three first attempts all failed
at different stages and with different outcomes, I think at least once
the machine froze completely, I don't remember the details.

This was the release candidate of Edgy and on a Core 2 Duo 2.00 GHz,
Nvidia Quadro graphics, bluetooth and Intel wireless.

[Bug 36857] Re: crashes when right click

2006-07-28 Thread Anders Olsson
I also experienced the crashes, using 0.3.5-1ubuntu3. I've tracked down
the problem to the Reminder Plugin:
http://raphael.slinckx.net/blog/projects/tomboy-reminder-plugin/

If I remove tomboy-reminder.dll from ~/.tomboy/Plugins/ the problem
disappears. I'm not sure which version I'm using or if it's the latest,
I don't use it so I just removed it. Do you use the reminder plugin?
Does removing it work for you? If it does I'd say we found the cause.
