[Bug 247390] Re: Now Playing screenlet doesn't show cover art using lastfm plugin with Rhythmbox

2009-05-07 Thread Andreas Olsson
Don't miss to take a peak at the duplicate bug #292777. It contains a
fair amount of potentially useful information.

(Yet, this report was the one triaged, so I decided to still let it be
the original report.)

[Bug 323755] Re: server-cert.pem expired: "Not After : Jan 27 08:54:13 2009 GMT" - ssl related test suites fails because of expired certificates

2009-05-07 Thread Andreas Olsson
I would like to nominate this bug for a SRU in regards to Ubuntu 8.04,
using the same patch which was applied to mysql-dfsg-5.0 in Ubuntu 9.04.
This on the basis of FTBFS(Fails To Build From Source). Right now I'm
working on a SRU proposal for bug #296952, and no matter what there will
likely be other updates which has to be applied to MySQL during the
Hardy lifespan.

TEST CASE: Do a normal build of 5.0.51a-3ubuntu5.4 and it will fail, due
to failed ssl tests. Applying this patch will make these tests pass
fine.

I have a hard time seeing any regression potential considering this only
affects a test certificate used during build tests, which fails anyway.

I'm attaching a debdiff addressed to hardy-proposed.

sshfs-fuse (2.0-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream version.

[Bug 370542] Re: Accessing http://localhost gives a 403 Forbidden when using apache "allow localhost" directive

2009-05-04 Thread Andreas Olsson
@Jonathan: Yes, I agree that this is clearly related to the
NetworkManager. That said I'm not convinced that is an actual bug in
Network Manager. For example; compare to sshd, which doesn't have any
trouble with Network Manager and its ipv6 behavior.

Anyway, I'm changing the Status to Confirmed. While we have yet to
triage the actual cause we have definitely confirmed the issue.

[Bug 370542] Re: Accessing http://localhost gives a 403 Forbidden when using apache "allow localhost" directive

2009-05-03 Thread Andreas Olsson
@Jonathan: You are right, I should test more and speculate less. I guess
I got a bit carried away. Thanks for pointing it out.

Regarding the part of listening on ipv6 I actually did some testing, on
a server install of 9.04. This is the result I got.

andr...@pc13267v1:~$ sudo netstat -ntlp | grep 80
[sudo] password for andreas:
tcp0 0 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
2041/apache2

Now today, testing it on a Desktop install, I get the following
interesting results

* Doing a reboot *
andr...@pc13267v5:~$ sudo netstat -ntlp | grep 80
[sudo] password for andreas:
tcp6   0  0 :::80   :::*LISTEN
2438/apache2
andr...@pc13267v5:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart
 * Restarting web server apache2
... waiting
   [ OK ]
andr...@pc13267v5:~$ sudo netstat -ntlp | grep 80
tcp0 0 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
2814/apache2

(Note that Apache is switching from ipv6 to ipv4 as it is manually
restarted)

Removing NetworkManager from my Desktop install, and instead configure
eth0 (using dhcp) from /etc/network/interfaces makes my desktop install
behave like my server install.

* Doing a reboot *
andr...@pc13267v5:~$ sudo netstat -tlpn | grep 80
tcp0 0 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
2545/apache2

@Martin: Actually, failed to reproduce using your recipe. Sounds like
your last suspision might be right. Are you using NetworkManager? In

have a Jaunty system using NetworkManager, which I can reboot and test.

@Jonathan: Actually, I'm pretty sure the ::1 entry in /etc/hosts isn't
something which was changed in Jaunty. It happens to differ based on if
you used Ubiquity or the Debian Installer. Compare to bug #285132. At
least I think so, not sure if I really have done any Ubiquity installs
of Jaunty yet. I happen to

Except that I do agree about your analysis about it being related to
ipv6 and lookups. Just not sure if adding an Allow from ::1 will help.

[Bug 370445] Re: Postfix is dependancy for MySQL Server on server edition

2009-05-01 Thread Andreas Olsson
Well, strictly speaking it is indirectly installed as a Recommends. Had
it been a hard dependency you wouldn't have been able to remove postfix,
without also having your mysql-server-5.1 removed.

What happens is that mysql-server-5.1 recommends mailx, which depends on
bsd-mailx, which in turn recommends postfix (or other MTA).

This is a change compared to mysql-server-5.0 where mailx is only
Suggested, hence not installed automatically.

I agree that it's not really an expected behavior to have postfix
installed when you actually doing an mysql-server install. That said I'm
not entirely sure yet if this actually is a bug. Having a minimal MTA
(such as send-only) can more or less be considered a must on a standard
server.

For now I'll mark this bug as Incomplete, and ask for feedback on it.

[Bug 370000] Re: package mysql-server-5.1 5.1 .31-1ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: el subproceso post-installation script devolvió el código de s alida de error 127

2009-04-30 Thread Andreas Olsson
Based on these lines I'd like to make a guess

Configurando mysql-server-5.1 (5.1.31-1ubuntu2) ...
 * Stopping MySQL database server mysqld
   ...done.
 * /etc/init.d/mysql: WARNING: /etc/mysql/my.cnf cannot be read. See
README.Debian.gz
 * Starting MySQL database server mysqld
   ...done.
/etc/init.d/mysql: line 115: /etc/mysql/debian-start: No existe el fichero ó
directorio
invoke-rc.d: initscript mysql, action "start" failed.

You have previously had some mysql version installed? After uninstalling
it (without purging) you manually removed the files inside /etc/mysql/,
perhaps the entire folder?

Assuming that is the case, which would fit the error messages, the
package manager would still believe the mysql configuration files being
installed, hence becoming confused when they aren't present.

The critical packages in this case is by the way mysql-common. It is
most often installed indirectly as a dependency.

[Bug 368036] Re: php5-gd imagecolorset no longer working properly after upgrade to 9.04

2009-04-30 Thread Andreas Olsson
Tried your example on both a fresh Ubuntu 8.10 and a fresh Ubuntu 9.04.
In both cases I actually ended up with the a grey scaled result.

Not so sure if this is an upstream issue, considering that both Ubuntu
8.10 and Ubuntu 9.04 uses the same upstream version of PHP.

Having a non existing cachedir doesn't seem to the entirely proper
solution.

http://wiki.squid-cache.org/SquidFaq/ConfiguringSquid#head-
c1da1b7113875d4bb84170e3de291298cb1be7f3

The reason this error occurred was because the package manager tried to
read the permission of a folder which turned out not to exist. Not
entirely sure if this is classify as a bug, considering it is the result
of a somewhat faulty configuration.

[Bug 367317] Re: unreliable Psi interface in Jaunty

2009-04-26 Thread Andreas Olsson
I've had problems on both i386 and amd64. Haven't compared enough to
actually say in what regards it matter.

Anyhow, based on our combined experiences, as well as that upstream
forum post I'd say we have enough information to mark this bug as
confirmed. Will you do the honours? :) Wouldn't really be proper for me
to confirm my own bug.

** Summary changed:

- unreliable Psi interface in Jaunty
+ unreliable Psi interface in Jaunty (qt incompability?)

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: psi

Having installed Psi (0.12-2) in Jaunty I've experienced all kinds of
strange behavior from it's interface. Usually it doesn't work to toggle
View -> Show ___ contacts while being connected. Sometimes when I double
click on name on the contact list, I receive a chat window to a totally
separate person. When changing Options, and selecting different "areas"
(Application, Chat, Events, etc) the "selection color" sometimes stick
  on the old selection.

I haven't yet managed to find a pattern on when and when not these
symptoms occur. All I can say for sure is that it happens often, but not
all the time. Also, I've installed Psi (and Jaunty) on a few different
  computer, with the same result.

+ EDIT/UPDATE: This might be related to QT incompabilities
+
  ProblemType: Bug
  Architecture: amd64
  DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04

[Bug 367157] Re: package squid 2.7.STABLE3-4.1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade:

2009-04-26 Thread Andreas Olsson
Yeah, those files might have helped :) Just not sure if the archive was
gzip'd...

Don't think this is a generic problem. I installed squid on a fresh
8.10, did a do-release-upgrade to Jaunty, and Squid was still working.
Of course, that was with only the default configuration.

Looking in your /var/log/dist-upgrade/term.log I see quite a few
attempts to access the non-existent path /null. At one occasion it
happens right next to your "subprocess post-installation script
returned error exit status 1".

Can you find anything in your squid configuration which would explain
why the upgrade would want to access /null?
