[Bug 1652629] [NEW] dbus org.freedesktop.sssd.infopipe.service contains ${prefix}

2016-12-26 Thread Andreas Roth
Public bug reported:

I checked out version 1.14.2-1 from zesty (proposed) and stumbled over
this issue:

In the /usr/share/dbus-1/system-services/org.freedesktop.sssd.infopipe.service
the Exec line is as follows:
Exec=${prefix}/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/sssd/sss_signal

but it should be
Exec=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/sssd/sss_signal

Without this modification the ifp services fails to start.

[Bug 1242801] [NEW] meld assertion while selecting directory

2013-10-21 Thread Andreas Roth
Public bug reported:

I installed saucy with version 1.3.4-0ubuntu1 of gtk2-engines-oxygen and meld
version 1.8.2 on Kubuntu/KDE.
- set GTK2 theme to oxygen-gtk in system settings
- Start meld
- on start screen (new comparsion) select directory comparison
- select in either source or destination directory combo box the entry
'Other...'
- crash

in the terminal i could see the callstack of the crash:
/usr/bin/meld:167: GtkWarning: gtk_tree_model_filter_get_value: assertion
'GTK_TREE_MODEL_FILTER (model)->priv->stamp == iter->stamp' failed
  gtk.main()
/usr/bin/meld:167: Warning:
/build/buildd/glib2.0-2.38.0/./gobject/gtype.c:4215: type id '0' is invalid
  gtk.main()
/usr/bin/meld:167: Warning: can't peek value table for type '' which
is not currently referenced
  gtk.main()
Segmentation fault

I also tried with version 1.4.0-0ubuntu1 of gtk2-engines-oxygen with the same
result.
If I select a QtCurve as gtk2 theme the same crash occurs. If i select a
different theme (e.g. Clearlooks) i get the file dialog and everything is ok.

Today i tested this issue on a raring machine and i was unable to
reproduce this issue there.

[Bug 581319] Re: debuild fails if GREP_OPTIONS are set in environment

2012-10-10 Thread Andreas Roth
You're right it is the same issue.
I run the debuild from the package directory which any arguments and debuild
immediately terminates with the error (on ubuntu precise):
debuild: fatal error at line 640:
don't understand dpkg-parsechangelog output: (standard input):1:Source: pkgname

I noticed that the options '-Hn' to grep are the cause of the problem.
Only using the '--color=auto' option does not hurt at all.

[Bug 806429] Re: kernel oops caused by umounting nfs4

2011-08-01 Thread Andreas Roth
apport information

** Description changed:

  On my system i'm using NFS4 with autofs. I think autofs decided to umount one
of the NFS4 shares and this might caused the crash.
  The client usually mounts 2 shares from the server. One is the home directory
and the second one is the root directory exported by the server. e.g.:
  server:/home/username mounted to /home/username
  server:/ mounted to /network/server

  The home directory is still present and mounted (still working
  correctly). The second directory is no longer mounted after the crash
  occured. Trying to remount it fails (mount hangs).

[Bug 806429] Re: kernel oops caused by umounting nfs4

2011-07-19 Thread Andreas Roth
I already ran the command and it already attached several log files.

Anyway due this issue is a crash report, i doubt that the 'missing
information' is still present on the system. It happened on a system,
which don't use daily and right now i don't have the time to get into
this issue. Please tell me if you need more information, but only if you
could tell me what kind of information is missing ;-).

[Bug 806429] [NEW] kernel oops caused by umounting nfs4

2011-07-06 Thread Andreas Roth
Public bug reported:

On my system i'm using NFS4 with autofs. I think autofs decided to umount one
of the NFS4 shares and this might caused the crash.
The client usually mounts 2 shares from the server. One is the home directory
and the second one is the root directory exported by the server. e.g.:
server:/home/username mounted to /home/username
server:/ mounted to /network/server

The home directory is still present and mounted (still working
correctly). The second directory is no longer mounted after the crash
occured. Trying to remount it fails (mount hangs).

I no longer need this script and i'm using intrepid 8.10 on all my machines.
The script i posted almost 2 years ago does require a special name. you only
have to mark the script as executeable (chmod 0755 scriptname).

[Bug 119660] Autofs should be reloaded when state of network interface changes

2007-06-10 Thread Andreas Roth
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: autofs

At the moment the autofs deamon is started by a regular init script. If the
autofs daemon loads its configuration from the network (NIS or LDAP), the
configuration is only available after the network interface is up.
Using the init script, the autofs daemon tries to load the configuration when
the network interface is not yet ready (e.g. no DHCP address assigned yet,
etc).
I suggest to put a little script in /etc/network/if-up.d/ and
/etc/network/if-down.d/ to reload the autofs daemon, so that the configuration
gets updated when the state of one of the network interfaces changes.

At the moment I'm using a very simple script on my machine:
#!/bin/sh
# Not for loopback!
[ "$IFACE" != "lo" ] || exit 0
/etc/init.d/autofs reload

[Bug 94068] Re: Can't configure IP addr's on multiple NICs

2007-04-07 Thread Andreas Roth
I can confirm that this also occurs in my installation:
two NICs and i want to set up them with two different static ips.

auto lo
 iface lo inet loopback
# The primary network interface
auto eth0
 iface eth0 inet static
 address 192.168.1.100
 netmask 255.255.255.0
 gateway 192.168.1.254

auto eth2
 iface eth2 inet static
 address 192.168.42.1
 netmask 255.255.255.0

This is the output of the kernel during boot:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# dmesg | grep eth
[   57.719169] eth0: RealTek RTL8139 at 0xe0846f00, 00:08:54:07:d4:0f, IRQ 16
[   57.719173] eth0:  Identified 8139 chip type 'RTL-8100B/8139D'
[   60.948352] eth1: VIA Rhine II at 0x1d400, 00:0b:6a:cc:81:23, IRQ 18.
[   60.949071] eth1: MII PHY found at address 1, status 0x786d advertising 05e1
Link 45e1.
[   74.753475] eth2: link up, 100Mbps, full-duplex, lpa 0x45E1
[   75.110357] eth0: link up, 100Mbps, full-duplex, lpa 0x45E1
[   85.097866] eth2: no IPv6 routers present
[   85.453637] eth0: no IPv6 routers present
[  112.208668] eth2: no IPv6 routers present
[ 3742.385398] eth2: link up, 100Mbps, full-duplex, lpa 0x45E1
[ 3742.702094] eth0: link up, 100Mbps, full-duplex, lpa 0x45E1
[ 3752.755541] eth2: no IPv6 routers present
[ 3752.803508] eth0: no IPv6 routers present

As you can see, the Realtek card is eth0 and the VIA card is eth1. But when the
network is started, the card names are different.
eth0  Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:0B:6A:CC:81:23
eth2  Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:08:54:07:D4:0F
Now eth1 is gone and eth2 is the Realtek card and eth0 is the VIA card.

[Bug 99399] Preseed from HTTP URL with parameters does not work

2007-03-31 Thread Andreas Roth
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: debian-installer

I tried to preseed using a url with parameters (e.g.
preseed/url=http://server/preseed.php?name=hostname)

But during the installation the url wasn't used correctly. The installer used
only a portion of the given url string (e.g. http://server/preseed.php?name).
Everything after the = is not used.
I've done some research and found out that the bin/env2debconf (in initrd.gz)
splits the environment variable by the = sign, but it's not doing this
correctly. It tries to truncate the string after the first = searched from the
end of the string, but it should use the string from the beginning up to the
first = sign. I created a patch which works well with the above url, but i
haven't test it with other pressed methods (like file).

I hope that my propused fix is fine and get into one of the next

[Bug 94786] Re: [netboot] /lib/preseed/fetch-methods/{ftp, http} empty

2007-03-25 Thread Andreas Roth
the initrd causes this issue.
It contains the http and ftp files but it seems that these files are linked
(when i unpack it on another machine cpio raises a warning).
I corrected this issue on my machine by deleting the ftp and http file and
recreate them and then recreate the initrd.

[Bug 95398] Re: Preseeding Config from HTTP and FTP does not work

2007-03-25 Thread Andreas Roth
In the included initrd.gz archive the ftp and the http file are linked
together, which causes that both files are empty when the installer is started.
If you unpack the initrd manually, both files contain the same content (and
they are linked; see cpio error msg).
