[Bug 1678184] [NEW] APST quirk needed for Samsung 512GB NVMe drive
Public bug reported: APST support just landed in the latest Zesty kernel (4.10.0-14.16) as part of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1664602. That patch has a quirk for certain 256GB Samsung drives found in Dell laptops that do not behave well when APST is enabled. I am experiencing the same symptoms with the same model laptop except with a 512GB Samsung. [Bug 706416] Re: Indicator menus won't open when a VirtualBox seamless VM has focus
I am still seeing this in 12.10. I have only seen this happen with virtualbox in seamless mode, and it does affect all indicators. The indicator menu will not display even on a separate monitor from the one where seamless mode is active, yet it does reliably draw the decoration on the panel as if the menu was displayed (see attachment). Once VirtualBox has focus the indicator menus can be displayed in two ways: 1) giving focus to another non-seamless window, or 2) hitting the VirtualBox hostkey, which defaults to Right Ctrl for me, and reselecting a different indicator. ** Attachment added: "the indicator background on the panel is drawn as if the menu is displayed even though the menu that extends below the panel is not" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-panel/+bug/706416/+attachment/3451775/+files/virtualbox_seamless_indicator_menus.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/706416 Title: Indicator menus won't open when a VirtualBox seamless VM has focus To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/706416/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 669820] Re: Cannot set brightness or contrast
Hi Robert (and Michael), First, thanks for the original review so long ago. I finally had a chance to look at this again, and I think I have fixed all the issues you pointed out. I've proposed the new branch for reviewing/merging. The point about the values that scanners expect differing makes sense, so I implemented scaling for the values. I thought I based the original range off of what mine expected, but apparently not as that turns out to be -127 to 127. Anyways, as long as no scanners expect extremely large values, the scaling should work. It now only sets the value if it is changed from default as you mentioned, so there is always that to fall back on. Lastly, as part of the change from gtk2 to gtk3 it looks like the trough-side-details property was dropped (http://git.gnome.org/browse/gtk+/commit/?id=658f99b8eef2805f2f4ca18c9436931e8d225b26), so I don't think I can fix it drawing the misleading background highlighting anymore for the scales. I looked to see if there was a way to tell it to draw the highlight/fill from the middle, but I couldn't find anything. Setting the fill level to 0 was ignored. Setting the fill level to full would work, but then the entire background is orange and it somewhat sticks out. Oh well, I guess. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/669820 Title: Cannot set brightness or contrast To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/simple-scan/+bug/669820/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 752773] Re: dash should sort results (apps, files, ...) by relevance
There does not seem to be lots of interest in this, but I would also find it useful to have frequency of use influence the scoring/sorting of items. I run into issues fairly often with applications where I wind up launching the wrong one because some obscure application is the first result. For example if I type "update" to try to run Software Updater, I instead get an application that has Update in the title but that I have never intentionally run. Or I often want to type "calc" to get Calculator, but instead wind up with LibreOffice's calc which I also rarely use and don't mind having to click or use more keypresses for the exceptional cases. Another way to approach it could be to remember that, for me, calc means Calculator rather than LibreOffice Calc. Collect the stats to know that 9 times out of 10 when typing calc I end up launching Calculator, and give me that. That way rather quickly after using the dash users have created their own shortcuts and it does what they want. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/752773 Title: dash should sort results (apps, files, ...) by relevance To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/752773/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1040353] Re: apportcheckresume crashed with AssertionError in _assert_bin_mode(): file stream must be in binary mode
The backtrace shows it failing when writing the report file on line 84. This is because write in problem_report.py checks that it was opened in binary mode, with a comment that it is required. Changing line 82 in apportcheckresume so it opens report_file in binary mode with 'wb' instead of just 'w' seems to fix it. Running it manually triggers bug #1046092 because the script assumes /var/lib/pm-utils/status exists. Perhaps having a history of changes would help (with the ability to rollback/reinstall). [Bug 331909] [NEW] xrandr display settings not applied (dual head lost upon reboot)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon On Jaunty I am having a problem where the display settings configured with gnome-display-properties and saved to ~/.config/monitors.xml are not being applied by gnome-settings-daemon. This results in dual head reverting to mirrored mode after logging out and back in. The config file monitors.xml appears to be correct and g-s-d is not crashing. gnome-settings-daemon: Installed: 2.25.90-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 2.25.90-0ubuntu3 Version table: 2.25.90-0ubuntu3 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages *** 2.25.90-0ubuntu2 0 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04 Package: gnome-settings-daemon 2.25.90-0ubuntu2 ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gnome-settings-daemon Uname: Linux 2.6.28-8-generic i686 ** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 -- xrandr display settings not applied (dual head lost upon reboot) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/331909 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 277948] Re: [Mobility M7 LW 7500] Virtual screen size too small when using dual head
Thank you for the notification. I've confirmed I have 6.11.0 in my Xorg.log, and while the update unfortunately did not fix the issue, I did find something in testing: attempting to turn off the LCD in Display Settings takes an inordinate amount of time to fail, but afterwards the screen size is set correctly. ** Attachment added: "Xorg.0.log" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/22865446/Xorg.0.log -- [Mobility M7 LW 7500] Virtual screen size too small when using dual head https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/277948 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 96991] Re: 3D stuff breaks with Compiz: Redirected Direct Rendering is needed in DRI
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't it a bit premature to be marking this as Fix Released? It only works on -intel if you edit your xorg.conf and enable UXA. That's hardly a fix though, as it's quite unstable for a number of people and not likely to be the default in jaunty (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/UxaTesting) (https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-x/2009-February/000391.html). -- 3D stuff breaks with Compiz: Redirected Direct Rendering is needed in DRI https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/96991 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 295980] Re: [intrepid] wave like mouse movements using touchpad on Samsung NC10
Looks like this is getting covered upstream: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18351 There is a test patch mentioned that modifies the synaptic kernel driver to scale its output correctly, but it seems that may not be what they wind up doing in the end. Maybe I'll try to package it up for testing/workaround, though. Or could we apply it and drop the patch once they include it? Regardless, it would be nice to not have to wait for Jaunty+1 for this to be fixed. ** Attachment added: "Experimental patch by Tero Saarni from freedesktop bugtracker" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/21547665/f3b5bf09b.txt -- [intrepid] wave like mouse movements using touchpad on Samsung NC10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/295980 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

** Description changed: + Upon disabling mirroring and logging back in, the virtual screen size is + that of one screen, not both. + + xrandr output: + Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1680 x 1050, maximum 3360 x 1050 + LVDS connected 1680x1050+1680+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 331mm x 207mm + DVI-0 connected 1680x1050+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 434mm x 270mm + + For things to behave properly, Screen 0 needs to be 3360x1050, which can + be manually set using xrandr --output S -s 3360x1050. Having this wrong + breaks the nautilus desktop, for example. + + - + Original problem report: + Binary package hint: nautilus Using Intrepid with the open source ati driver, two screens, and compiz enabled results in nautilus only running on one screen. I configured dual head using the Monitor Resolution Settings program. After restarting X for a virtual screen size config write, I come back in to find that one desktop is not getting redrawn. So dragging a window across the broken desktop results in the window contents getting drawn across the desktop, for example. Otherwise the screen itself works fine: Panels can be moved on and they function fine. I can use all the programs I want on the screen, and move other ones on to it.
