[Bug 1285287] Re: Crashes after clicking edit while using certain icon themes

2014-06-05 Thread Andy Morris
This is happening to me too. Xubuntu 14.04.
If I use Faenza iconset, or the default iconset that comes with Xubuntu, it
works fine.
But if I use some others, for example, Numix Circle, the Shutter Builti-in
Editor crashes.

2014-04-26 Thread Andy Morris
Nice to see someone's still playing with this to try and find a final
solution.

Me, I gave up trying to figure it out as Xfce is my primary desktop.

Still, thanks to anyone who's willing to give it a go... [thumbs-up!]

Hi VicBlack,

No, it is not a problem of proprietary Nvidia driver?
It happens on X.org driver and on AMD/ATI Radeon driver too.

I'm not an Ubuntu Developer, so I can't help you further, but I thought I'd
answer your question so that you get a quick reply.

Regards,

Andy

[Bug 1256590] [NEW] J. Random User Showing In Unity Power Menu Indicator

2013-11-30 Thread Andy Morris
Public bug reported:

Yesterday I encountered an issue that was very concerning, at least
until I investigated a bit more, and found that it may only be due to
debug/test code that's still be present in released software. The search
I made brought me here. Please redirect me if I'm in the wrong place.

J. Random User appeared in the Ubuntu 13.10 (x86_64) Unity Power
indicator list, below 'Lock' and above '{my user name}'.

This was only noticed as I was about to lock the screen, which I do a
number of times per day, however, this time J. Random User was
visible.

There was no User Account for that entry in System Settings User Accounts.
There was no one else logged onto the machine except my own username (checked
by '$ w').
There seemed to be no rogue processes running (checked in log and current
processes).

From a security point of view, it was very concerning. But after my
searches on the matter, I belive the machine not to be compromised, but
tickled by 'developer test code'.

Restarting the computer removed the issue.

It could be coincidence, but the only bit of new software I tried (for
the first time ever) was the Remmina Remote Desktop Client to see if
was interested to remotely connect to another computer on the home
network. After restarting my computer and running that software again,
it did not cause a J. Random User to appear in the indicator, so it
could be a red-herring.

It could also be related to this? :
https://code.launchpad.net/~larsu/ido/custom-menu-items/+merge/165498

Hope you know something about it, or can redirect this bug report
elsewhere.

Thanks.

[Bug 1256590] Re: J. Random User Showing In Unity Power Menu Indicator

2013-11-30 Thread Andy Morris
I have no idea which package caused it. That's for you (the developers)
to figure out.

In my posting, I let you know already that the only 'first time' usage
of an app which may be related to this is Remmina Remote Desktop
Client. But I don't know for sure if that app caused the problem as the
error that I'm reporting is seen on the Ubuntu Desktop and not inside a
specific application.

[Bug 858845] Re: Screen edge actions set in CCSM (scale/expo) don't work (sometimes) - Wall plugin is probably responsible

2013-11-13 Thread Andy Morris
Hi all (developers),

In Ubuntu 13.10, fully up to date, this problem is still ongoing, for me
anyways.

The only way to get my Hot Corners working again is to open Unity Tweak
Tool, disable and then re-enable hot corners. Once I've done this, hot
corners are effective again immediately (just as they should've been
after login).

What information do you need to investigate this?

[Bug 1069590] Re: Unable to save alternate path to save screenshots - must manually edit XML file to change location

2013-04-23 Thread Andy Morris
This is also/confirmed happening in openSUSE 12.3 (KDE) with Shutter 0.90 Rev
1252.
Changing the xml config file manually seems to stay in place :-
-- File : /home/{user}/.shutter/settings.xml
-- Parameter : folder={path/to/folder}
At least there's this work-around at the moment.

[Bug 950352] Re: Online Accounts UI Missing

2012-09-29 Thread Andy Morris
I have 12.04.1 LTS (64), and I just realised that this affected me too.
Updating /usr/share/applications/gnome-online-accounts-panel.desktop fixed this
as per Antonio's comment.

Before
OnlyShowIn=GNOME;

After
OnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity;

This took immediate effect. Log out was not required.

[Bug 812394] Re: Disable hibernate option by default

2012-08-15 Thread Andy Morris
Can someone please make it clear to me if the suspend to disk feature is
now stable (fixed and released), or if it's still a general issue and is
still disabled by default due to results for differents hardware?
