[Bug 858845] [NEW] Expo edge setting stops working at times

2011-09-25 Thread Ankit Vani
Public bug reported:

I have set expo edge to bottom right. After reboot, often this setting
does not seem to work. To re-enable expo edge, I have to clear it in
compizconfig settings manager and re-set it to bottom right.

[Bug 858835] [NEW] Progress bar in unity icons does not update during file transfers

[Bug 852446] [NEW] xvideo has extra brightness

2011-09-17 Thread Ankit Vani
Public bug reported:

When playing videos using xvideo, such as in VLC or totem, there is
extra brightness. What should appear black appears grey. The difference
is easily visible on videos that do not fill up the whole screen, as
there are true black strips around the video. The extra brightness can
be rectified by using "xvattr -a XV_BRIGHTNESS -v -60", but I have to do
that everytime on startup (I have added it to startup applications as
"Fix AVIVO's brightness issue").

[Bug 852437] [NEW] VLC has a permanent audio delay

2011-09-17 Thread Ankit Vani
Public bug reported:

VLC has a permanent default audio delay of about 350 seconds. Every time I
start up VLC to watch a video, I have to manually set the audio delay to -350ms
for proper audio/video sync. This has been happening since an update to vlc
when I was using Ubuntu 11.04. After upgrading to 11.10 beta, the bug still
persists.
This has been tested by me on multiple systems.

[Bug 795519] Re: Add back system-wide network proxy settings

2011-09-02 Thread Ankit Vani
On installing beta 1, I found that there is no way to graphically enter
the authentication details for proxies. I run ubuntu behind my college's
wifi proxy, so do a lot of other people here who do not know to change
the config files.

[Bug 795519] Re: Add back system-wide network proxy settings

2011-09-02 Thread Ankit Vani
I'm unable to test this fix right now but I would like to note that even
in Ubuntu 11.04, the proxy authentication was not applied globally.
Please confirm that authentication works properly in this fix as well.

for instance, in 11.04, the proxies used to be set as
http://host:port/
instead of
http://username:password@host:port/
in the env variables and apt.conf. I had to manually add the username and
password in the respective files.

[Bug 772211] [NEW] System-wide proxy settings do not affect apt-get, wget

2011-04-28 Thread Ankit Vani
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

In System->Preferences->Network Proxy, I set it to use Manual proxy
configuration, using the same proxy for all protocols. I provide the
HTTP proxy, port, and in details the authentication username and
password. On applying system-wide and closing, I still need to change
files such as /etc/apt/apt.conf, /etc/environment to include the
authentication to be like "http://username:password@proxy-ip:port/";. I
also need to add the proxy details in /etc/wgetrc - the proxy settings
themselves as well as proxy_user and proxy_passwd.

In the debian stable, all these things are done automatically by
gnome-network-properties.
This problem existed in ubuntu 11.04 beta 2 also.
