[Bug 1387692] [NEW] Monitor not displaying at correct resolution

2014-10-30 Thread Leon Anomaly
Public bug reported:

I have a 1600x1200 monitor, but I am only able to display at 1024x768. I
think that this is due to an issue with the Radeon driver, though I
could be wrong.

I confirm that the new kernel update « 3.8.0-23.34 » indeed fixes the
problem. Alx driver is now working properly.

[Bug 1019628] Re: virtualbox-dkms 4.1.12-dfsg-2ubuntu0.1: virtualbox kernel module failed to build [Fehler: ungültige Präprozessordirektive #Oefine]

2013-05-03 Thread Anomaly
In my previous install of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, I could install VirtualBox
without problems.

I did a reinstall with 12.04.2 which ships 3.5 kernel, and VirtualBox
kernel module will compile anymore.

I wonder why the bug is Fix released considering that I updated the
distribution before installing VirtualBox, and installing VirtualBox
from external source does not fix the bug in the distribution itself.

Of course in my previous comment I meant VirtualBox kernel module will
NOT compile anymore (with Ubuntu 12.04.2 featuring kernel 3.5).

[Bug 1176108] [NEW] alx: does not work for my Atheros AR8161

2013-05-03 Thread Anomaly
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 13.04 includes the alx driver but it does not work for me.

lspci gives :
03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR8161 Gigabit
Ethernet (rev 08)

The module is automatically loaded and there is an eth0 interface
created, but no IP is associated with it. The network system tries to
connect to it in a infinite loop and always fail.

The booting time is very long, and the screen is filled by messages from
alx.

I am not the only one :
http://askubuntu.com/questions/286880/13-04-ethernet-adapter-not-connecting-ar8161

Compiling from compat-wireless 3.6.8 worked wonderfully with Ubuntu
12.04 LTS. That's not an option since Raring features kernel 3.8. I
tried several versions of compat-drivers but none would compile for me
for unknown reasons.

Anyway since Ubuntu now provides the alx driver, it should work, but it
does not. Please tell me if I can give out more informations to help
solving this problem.

The report comes from the distribution running from live USB stick (I
reverted back to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on the hard drive because of this
issue). The problem is worse (very long booting time, screen filled with
alx-related messages) once the OS is installed.

[Bug 927782] Re: integrate the Atheros AR8131/AR8151/AR8152/AR8161/AR8162 Ethernet driver with Jockey

2012-10-21 Thread Anomaly
I confirm that AR8161 Gigabit (ALX driver) is still not working on
Ubuntu 12.10. While I perfectly understand why it didn't work on 12.04
and that you had to compile the driver from sources, I really did not
expected that it still would not work in 12.10.

I suppose I could install a package (like written just ahead)... if I
had an Internet connection on that machine!

[Bug 872044] Re: Bluetooth 'Send files' returns permission denied error

2012-03-18 Thread Anomaly
I can confirm that updating Precise to the latest kernel fix the Send
file issue. Unfortunately, the Browse File on Device menu option is
still broken. It's better than before, because when you choose that
option, the device will react and ask for confirmation. But even if you
say yes, nothing will happen on the computer side.

To add on my previous reply, the following will be added /var/log/syslog
while trying to Browse File on Device :

obex-data-server: sdp_extract_seqtype: Unexpected end of packet

[Bug 899858] Re: regression in gvfs to connect/browse using obex

2012-03-18 Thread Anomaly
With the latest kernel update on Precise that fixes the Send file to
device problem, I can confirm that Browing file on device still does
not work correctly.

Bluetooth device is Samsung B2710 (with Samsung proprietary OS).

On Natty (correct behavior) : Browsing File on Device will pop up a
connection confirmation on the phone ; when yes is answered, Nautilus
will open with the files on the phone.

On Precise with latest kernel update : Browsing File on Device will pop
up a connection confirmation on the phone ; when yes is answered,
nothing seems to happen. If you open Nautilus manually, you notice that
the phone has been mounted, but trying to access it gives the error
message The name was not provided by any .service file or Message did
not recieve a reply (the latter being followed by an automatic
unmount).

On /var/log/syslog the following line is added on each attempt : obex-
data-server: sdp_extract_seqtype: Unexpected end of packet.

[Bug 872044] Re: Bluetooth 'Send files' returns permission denied error

2012-01-30 Thread Anomaly
I can confirm that this bug affects me with a phone that has nothing to
do with Android. It is a Samsung B2710 with a Samsung proprietary OS.
Blutooth used to work perfectly with Ubuntu 11.04, but no more with
Ubuntu 11.10.

Things that are still working in Ubuntu 11.10 :
- Exploring files in the Public folder of the computer with the phone's file
browser
- Downloading a file found in the Public folder to the phone (by using the
phone's file browser)
- Sending a file from the phone (recieved in the Download folder on the
computer)
- If the phone or computer is not associated, association is done automatically
(with confirmation) while trying any of these

All of this needs to enable the Blutooth file sharing in the Personal
file sharing panel, which can only be found in the Dash, not in the
general control panel for example.

Things that used to work in Ubuntu 11.04 but not any more in Ubuntu 11.10 :
- Exploring phone files with the Ubuntu Blutooth menu
- Sending files to phone with the Ubuntu Blutooth menu
- Associating phone from Computer with the Ubuntu Blutooth menu

So Blutooth commands from computer are completely broken, the usual
error message recieved is Permission denied, if any at all.

On the other hand, Bluetooth commands from phone are working after
Blutooth file sharing is enabled on the computer in the Personal File
sharing panel.

In other words, it's still possible to use Blutooth with Ubuntu 11.10
without using command line or applying source patch, but painful to do
since you can only operate from the phone, and files are read only on
the Public folder of the computer, and wrote only on the Download folder
of the computer.

It would be nice if the computer-side commands for Blutooth could be
fixed.
