2016-01-11 Thread Anthony Geoghegan
Public bug reported:

The documentation at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/OpenVPN refers to
the no longer used `admins` group. This should be now be replaced by the
`sudo` group. However that page is marked as **immutable** so I couldn't
edit it to fix this issue.

[Bug 1020343] Re: Time tracker dialog doesn't appear on top of other windows when launched from indicator

2012-09-11 Thread Anthony Geoghegan
I was going to report this issue too.

Where the hamster window appears seems to depend on how recently it was
used. e.g. if I close the hamster window again and then re-open it using
the applet, hamster will be the topmost window. However If I close it
and then switch focus to two other application windows before re-opening
hamster, its window will be open up behind the other two application
windows.

I use Unity on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
I have one monitor and currently work with all my application windows open on
the one work-space.

[Bug 686062] Re: FFe: hamster-applet should have appindicator support

2012-09-11 Thread Anthony Geoghegan
I'd just like to add my thanks to Alberto et al. I've only just started
using time management software and hamster is widely recommended. I
installed hamster-applet and liked it but I didn't think it had a usable
interface. Having installed hamster-indicator, it integrates with my
desktop much better.

I've just added a bug-report with the suggestion that hamster-indicator
be included in the list of "Recommended packages" for hamster-applet:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hamster-applet/+bug/1049078

[Bug 1049078] [NEW] Should include hamster-indicator in its list of "Recommended packages"

2012-09-11 Thread Anthony Geoghegan
Public bug reported:

OS Version: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS
hamster-applet: 2.91.3+git20110714.9aefd7-2ubuntu3

hamster-applet on its own is not usable. It doesn't integrate well with
the Unity desktop environment and much of the application's
functionality is impaired e.g. no regular reminders. I was using it for
a while before I discovered hamster-indicator. The user experience is
greatly enhanced when hamster-indicator is also installed.

I was almost going to suggest that hamster-indicator should be a
dependency but listing it in the "Recommended packages" should suffice
(for those users who are interested enough to check the "Recommended
packages").

[Bug 1040267] [NEW] Obsolete information in 12.04 documentation on User Management

2012-08-22 Thread Anthony Geoghegan
Public bug reported:

Page Title: User Management
URL: https://help.ubuntu.com/12.04/serverguide/user-management.html

The last sentence in the "Where is root?" section states, "By default,
the initial user created by the Ubuntu installer is a member of the
group "admin" which is added to the file /etc/sudoers as an authorized
sudo user. If you wish to give any other account full root access
through sudo, simply add them to the admin group."

However, there is no 'admin' group in a default installation of 12.04.
The appropriate group should be 'sudo', not 'admin'.

>From /usr/share/doc/policykit-desktop-privileges/changelog.gz
* Group "sudo" is the new "admin", allow both. (LP: #893842)

See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/policykit-1/+bug/893842
and https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/user-setup/1.39ubuntu1

(I've only recently started using Ubuntu and this is my first bug
report. Hoping it's useful and descriptive enough.)
