[Bug 811475] Re: Descender letters (g j p q y) get their tail cut off in current song
Further to my duplicate report, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/920587 i propose that either the 'Now playing x' information, or the bar which moves as the song plays, should be moved to the empty space highlighted in orange on my last image, freeing up more room to show more contents of the library etc It seems inefficient to have an large empty space sitting there, when we have this problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/811475 Title: Descender letters (g j p q y) get their tail cut off in current song To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/811475/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 920587] Re: Now playing information gets pushed behind the playing bar
I've tried changing font and font sizes, but this problem rests solely with rhythmbox. The bar that moves when a song plays makes longer letters in the song name totally illegible. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/920587 Title: Now playing information gets pushed behind the playing bar To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/920587/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 920587] Re: Now playing information gets pushed behind the playing bar
The space in orange is prime real estate for the Now playing x information really, leaving the progress bar where it is, though slightly up, which in turn means fitting more library information on the screen when maximised. ** Attachment added: Unused space which is dying to be used to solve this problem https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/920587/+attachment/2778694/+files/Screenshot%20at%202012-02-24%2013%3A20%3A15.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/920587 Title: Now playing information gets pushed behind the playing bar To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/920587/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 920587] Re: Now playing information gets pushed behind the playing bar
The top part, above the now playing bar, actually has some unused space - this could hold the bar which moves, as the song progresses, leaving the 'now playing x by x' information legible. This is a vital but easy to fix bug; i'm tempted to mess around with the code myself but i profess a sincere lack of experience :P -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/920587 Title: Now playing information gets pushed behind the playing bar To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/920587/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 919504] Re: Recurring MAC address problem with ATL1E Driver after suspend/shutdown/restart/ethernet cable removal
My workaround nowadays is to go to the Network Manager icon and edit the connection to put my desired MAC address as the 'cloned address'. When i start the computer back up, it's once again got a different MAC address and eth* number but i can change it to the current one - which is a tiny bit faster than typing console commands but still not a fix. [Bug 920587] [NEW] Now playing information gets pushed behind the position bar
Public bug reported: A cosmetic issue exists in rhythmbox. I hope to attach a picture but basically, when you play a song and the information comes up e.g. Switchyard by From Software from Armored Core 2: Another Age all the 'y's, 'g's etc get hidden by the top part of the playing bar and it looks sloppy and in some cases makes reading what's playing difficult. [Bug 919504] [NEW] Recurring MAC address problem with ATL1E Driver after suspend/shutdown/restart/ethernet cable removal
Public bug reported: I've been having this bug for a while - i think since maverick meerkat and its 2.6.35 kernel?? (Ordinarily, 9/10 times i use my wireless connection, but i have to use wired at university and i've finally had enough of this issue :( (You can check any relevant hardware info you need from data in other bugs i've posted, but in short i'm on ubuntu 11.10 64bit on an Asus K51AE.) related lspci output: (02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 Gigabit or Fast Ethernet (rev b0)) So it's definitely the atl1e driver and everytime i shutdown/suspend/restart, the MAC address changes (this is a particular problem because the university MAC filters us, so i would have to reregister everytime, were it not for a few commands i picked up from helpful users to temporarily get around the problem: sudo ifconfig eth0 down sudo ifconfig eth0 hw ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx sudo ifconfig eth0 up (Doing this changes the address to one i've registered previously ((However, this only lasts until i shutdown/restart/suspend/until i remove and reinsert the ethernet cable.)) Sometimes, if i restart, it not only changes the MAC address but increments the name for the new connection, i.e. After a few restarts, i can end up being on connection eth8 - when this is the only wired connection i ever use. I've used dozens of kernels and many versions of ubuntu and lubuntu since this first happened (~Dec 2010 - Jan 2011) Possibly a regression somewhere? Steps to repeat: 1) Start computer and log in. Check MAC address of wired connection and make a note of it. 2) Unplug then reinsert the ethernet cable or Restart/Shutdown the computer. 3) Check MAC address and see that it's different to before. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/919504 Title: Recurring MAC address problem with ATL1E Driver after suspend/shutdown/restart/ethernet cable removal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/919504/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 843361] Re: simple-scan crashed with SIGSEGV in g_closure_invoke()
Might i make a suggestion (since i'm still getting this) - why does simple-scan not behave more like libreoffice does - if a document crashes, libreoffice tries to recover it. Why not save a (temporary?) copy of everything that has been scanned so far in the session and then if the program crashes/closes unexpectedly, the user can continue with what's already been scanned with the choice to 'recover' the session? Please. I'm tired of scanning through so many pages before it gives up and i lose everything that's been scanned before saving :( If i need to scan 10 pages for a document and simple-scan crashes at the 7th page, i'd like to have the option to continue on from there, not start all the way back at page 1 again :( -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/843361 Title: simple-scan crashed with SIGSEGV in g_closure_invoke() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/simple-scan/+bug/843361/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 879076] [NEW] banshee unexpectedly crashes sometimes without warning

[Bug 873101] [NEW] Totem will only plays an .m4v file when it isn't online
Public bug reported: I'm using totem 3.0.1-0ubuntu7 (same version is listed for all totem related packages), on ubuntu 11.10 64bit. The issue is - if i try to watch an m4v video file in firefox, from my university's server (http://learn.lboro.ac.uk/file.php/997/Videos/Safety_Talk/Safety_Talk_- _iPhone.m4v), then totem searches for a suitable plugin and an error occurs: The playback of this movie requires a text/html decoder plugin which is not installed. [Bug 767498] Re: package apport 1.20.1-0ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
As comment 67 said: Folks, the ubuntu5 update will work even without the workaround, and if apport gives you a report about ubuntu5 failing to upgrade that's a wrongly titled bug for the ubuntu3 or ubuntu4 failures. You can ignore those by now. So, this specific bug was fixed in 1.20.1-0ubuntu5. Since your bug isn't related to 1.20.1-ubuntu4 or 1.20.1-ubuntu3 (like the title of this report), you could file a new one. Although i'd seriously urge you to read the above comments for solutions. Back when i had this issue, completely removing apport packages and then reinstalling them fixed the issue. [Bug 847508] [NEW] Option to only show packages of user's architecture.
Public bug reported: Firstly, Synaptic Package Manager is great! I use the 64bit version of ubuntu, and have noticed that in Oneiric, for the majority of packages, synaptic displays both architecture types now - i'm pretty sure that wasn't available in Natty? So, when i'm looking for a package e.g. 3dchess, i can now download 3dchess or just beneath it is 3dchess:i386. Correct me if i'm wrong, but before the days of html5, when 64bit flash versions were scarce or non-existent (!), it meant doing a messy workaround with nspluginwrapper to get the 32bit flash working on your 64bit browser, or downloading a 32bit version of your webbrowser - this was a problem because in synaptic, it would give you the browser version suited to your computer's architecture, and the only way to get a 32bit version would be to go to their website etc While this is a great addition to synaptic, and i imagine very helpful to those of us testing/using programs under a different architecture, it does mean that to the regular user, the package lists are considerably longer and there's more to wade through. So i have 2 questions: 1) Do 32bit oneiric users see something like 3dchess:amd64 i.e. do they get to see/download 64bit programs or was this change for 64bit users, for reasons conjectured above? 2) (I don't think this option exists?) Could you please add an option somewhere (maybe a tick box) to Only show packages of my architecture under Settings- Preferences - Files or Settings - Preferences - General Something like that? Something that will make this new behaviour optional? I don't really mind this change because it does more good than not but when i'm looking for packages in the list, the lists are of course longer and when i think i've missed ticking something important, it's actually the same package but i386! Thanks for your time :) ** Affects: synaptic (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Opinion ** Changed in: synaptic (Ubuntu) Status: New = Opinion ** Summary changed: - Option to only show user's architecture. + Option to only show packages of user's architecture. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/847508 Title: Option to only show packages of user's architecture.
