I've enabled proposed repository, rebooted, and can confirm my issue is
resolved. I can connect to WPA2 networks! Also marked my bug from
yesterday as a dup.

Along with the bug posted at:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/517934

I am not able to use this device. I have not, however, manually added
the device ID and recompiled, as the original poster did.

Upon plugging it in, dmesg shows:

[21732.185356] usb 1-1.4.3: USB disconnect, device number 5
[22319.105209] usb 2-1.1: new high-speed USB device number 4 using ehci_hcd

and lsusb:

Bus 002 Device 004: ID 0711:5100 Magic Control Technology Corp. Magic
Control Technology Corp. (USB2VGA dongle)

I will attach 'sudo lsusb -' also.

[Bug 1040353] Re: apportcheckresume crashed with AssertionError in _assert_bin_mode(): file stream must be in binary mode

2012-09-13 Thread Anthony Hook
I was not resuming from suspend when this happened, it was a minute or
two after a fresh boot on my Asus EEE 1000. Probably something with
power management as Andy said.

It was also previously reported in bug 517934, but I didn't mark that as
a duplicate because it was technically reported prior to this, making
this a duplicate.

[Bug 1050566] [NEW] sisusbvga driver not working with StarTech USB2VGAE2

2012-09-13 Thread Anthony Hook
Public bug reported:

Along with the bug posted at:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/517934

I am not able to use this device. I have not, however, manually added
the device ID and recompiled, as the original poster did.

Upon plugging it in, dmesg shows:

[21732.185356] usb 1-1.4.3: USB disconnect, device number 5
[22319.105209] usb 2-1.1: new high-speed USB device number 4 using ehci_hcd

and lsusb:

Bus 002 Device 004: ID 0711:5100 Magic Control Technology Corp. Magic
Control Technology Corp. (USB2VGA dongle)

I will attach 'sudo lsusb -' also.

[Bug 887079] Re: Software Sources shows codenames not version numbers

2011-11-07 Thread Anthony Hook
I agree with Alan and haydoni on this one, the terms, and I am in
understanding that we try to refer to them as 'yy.mm' for normal users
after release, (unless working with repos, pre-release versions, etc),
and this should remain consistent in software-properties as well.

[Bug 881772] [NEW] [oneiric] terminator doesn't appear in Unity or alt-tab list

2011-10-25 Thread Anthony Hook
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

1) Open terminator
2) Press alt-tab
3) Terminator doesn't show in the alt-tab list, however it does hide behind
current open windows, and there is no indicator in the unity-launchers that it
is running. You can get back to it by minimizing stuff. Perhaps this isn't a
bug with terminator, rather Gnome 3 or Unity.

Expected behavior:

Terminator should show up in the alt-tab list and indicated as running
in the unity-launcher.

Can the people having this issue please attach the following from a terminal:
lsb_release -a
uname -r

and from logs:
dmesg > dmesg.log (attach the dmesg to the report)
lspci -vvnn > lspci.log (attach the lspci to the report)

This will help get people more information about what's going on.

[Bug 734865] [NEW] [STAGING] RT2860 Wireless will not authenticate and connect when on battery power.

2011-03-14 Thread Anthony Hook
Public bug reported:

I've found a quite easy-to-reproduce bug (provided you have a Ralink
RT2860 wireless card). On a fresh boot, I am unable to connect to an
encrypted wireless connection (WPA2), if I'm on battery power. Attached
in the dmesg is things I don't quite understand, but they're probably
helpful to somebody. If there is other information I can provide, let
me know.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Remove power plug from netbook (run it on battery)
2) Boot laptop, log in,
3) Attempt to connect to WPA2 encrypted wireless
4) Provide correct credentials to nm-applet dialog box asking for encryption key
5) Wait about 30 seconds
6) Repeat steps 4-6 until you give up and plug in, reboot.

I did try this while connecting to open wireless (no security) while
doing the same steps as above, and was able to connect fine.

Re: [Bug 731708] Re: nautilus doesn't run, Unique-DBus-WARNING, assertion 'watcher_id > 0' failed

2011-03-09 Thread Anthony Hook
That's actually a very good question, I've since restarted and had a few new
sessions, I'll check when I get back home today. I didn't have any nautilus
windows open, but I don't know if it was running in the background.

I had attempted to start 4 instances by clicking on the item in the Unity
panel, they ended up displaying 2 hours later but grayed out (like it's
stuck, or however Gnome determines to gray them out), so I forced them
closed.

[Bug 718648] Re: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in Launcher::EventLogic()

2011-03-04 Thread Anthony Hook
My session crashed, I was brought back to GDM, logged in, and was
greeted with this. I don't know if it caused the session failure, or
happened during/after logging in.

[Bug 644067] Re: vmware workstation menus do not shows

2011-01-31 Thread Anthony Hook
I can confirm yet on 10.10, VMware Workstation 7.1.3 build-324285.

I do see the application indicator in the menu, but clicking (right or
left) doesn't give any sort of menu with it.

[Bug 710505] Re: package mysql-client-5.1 5.1.49-1ubuntu9 failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/usr/share/man/man1/my_print_defaults.1.gz', which is also in package mysql-server-core-5.1 5.

2011-01-31 Thread Anthony Hook
I'm not quite sure mine was marked as a duplicate of this, as this was
reported after mine, or the others that were already submitted, such as
the first Bug #710084 which didn't show up in a duplicate check. Anyway,
yeah. Having this issue.
