[Bug 1901245] [NEW] Ubuntu Groovy Gorilla 20.10 installer crashes says fatal error
Public bug reported: I was installing Ubuntu 20.10 on a legacy BIOS computer. The installer reported a fatal error and exited out. I was installing Ubuntu into a logical partition. I also selected for grub to the partition itself. I wanted to use my Focal partition to manager GRUB. I have tried installing it both online and offline. I have also tried installing without starting the live session and clicking install from the first window popup. In all instances the installer crashes and fails to install. Problem still remains (started when upgraded 10.04). :( Sudo killing the process still leaves the system monitor applet with at least 60% cpu usage, though the processes shown in htop (or top) dont stack up to this percentage... I work upstream for libssh. There is no way to activate the test suite in
libssh for two good reasons:
-Libssh actually has no testsuite. The test/ directory is more meant as some
code the authors (including me) wrote to test new features, but that code is
not maintained and doesn't act as a testsuite. Such testsuite should be
implemented, at least partially, with the next big libssh release.
-Even when this testsuite will be implemented, the use of the tests during
compilation would not be a good idea in my opinion, because the tests will
require a SSH server configured in a certain way. We could see for instances
report of failed tests on systems without SSH server, or where the connection
to localhost fails for trivial reasons.
I'd also add that libssh is not exactly a cryptographic library. Cryptography
is done within libcrypto of libgcrypt depending how libssh is compiled. There
are some functions in libssh that are worth unit-testing, like
base64-{en|de}coding, Diffie-helman using libbignum, ...
We will try to provide tests that can run for them at compile time in next
release.

Hello, Same problem. Clean installation of Karmic beta on a eeePC, using the alternate install cd (on usb). /dev/sda and /dev/sdb are bundled in a raid0 configuration. My home directory is encrypted using the installer provided method. Even at the first start, I had to log in, sudo -s and restart gdm. gdm then starts fine. By looking at log files, I can see that no attempt to start Xorg is made.
