[Bug 551663] Re: Server crashes after a couple of seconds

2011-05-16 Thread Arthur Wiebe
I believe this bug is linked to this bug in GlusterFS
http://bugs.gluster.com/cgi-bin/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=1188

Which has been patched. I'm having the same problem with my Ubuntu
Server 11.04 installation and need this fixed before I can continue
deployment.

Amen this needs to be backported to Lucid. It's the LTS release and we
have no plans to upgrade our environments until the next LTS release.

[Bug 619942] Re: [VX855] Ubuntu 10.04 LTSP not working (WYSE C90 series)

2010-11-25 Thread Arthur Wiebe
Hey Bartosz, I could probably spend some time in the next week getting
that log file. Currently we have all systems using the proprietary
driver from VIA which has it's bugs, but at least we can use it.

[Bug 419143] Re: Printing from evince (and perhaps other GTK apps) to PostScript printers is broken

2010-10-23 Thread Arthur Wiebe
If this get's fixed in 10.10, can the fix be back-ported to 10.04 LTS?

I am in charge of a business deployment where we are experiencing this
bug but we are sticking with the LTS release for obvious reasons.

[Bug 544847] Re: cant browse/mount windows shares in nautilus 10.04

2010-09-29 Thread Arthur Wiebe
I checked my samba server and it already had that workgroup setting
defined and set correctly. There must be something more to it than that.

Most of the users work fine but it seems randomly some users just act
up. This is all on an LTSP server with the samba server virtualized on
the same hardware so it's not like network latency is an issue.

For one user I always without fail get that error message when going to the
Bookmarks where I've bookmarked a samba share, and clicking on that bookmark.
The 1st time I always get that error, every time after that it works fine.
Removing the keyring resolves the issue but prompts for login each time.
Browsing to it in nautilus or using the bookmark, both have the same result.
First time it fails with the DBus error, every time after that it works fine
until you logout and log back in.

[Bug 544847] Re: cant browse/mount windows shares in nautilus 10.04

2010-09-23 Thread Arthur Wiebe
I can also confirm that this bug only seems to happen when there is a
keyring saved. I have an unencrypted keyring for these users so they
don't have to enter the password each time, if I delete the keyring I
don't see this bug.

Why oh why does Ubuntu have to have some many stupid quirks!!

2010-09-14 Thread Arthur Wiebe
There's a samba bug here:
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7250 that I'm not sure but
looks like it might resolve this issue.

Was fixed in samba 3.5.3 which ubuntu 10.04 has 3.4.7

This is a really bad bug. Adobe Reader works fine but I can't switch our

Is there any way I can help to get this resolved asap? I am working on
another ubuntu deployment Oct 1st and this is one of the issues that
needs to be resolved before that can happen.

2010-08-20 Thread Arthur Wiebe
Installing the VIA driver available at
http://linux.via.com.tw/support/beginDownload.action?eleid=401&fid=701
resolves the issue for the most part except for the boot screen.

I moved the xorg.conf file it installs and the specified it specifically
for the MAC address of the thin client.

[Bug 619942] Re: ltsp via VX855 chipset not working (WYSE C90 series)

2010-08-18 Thread Arthur Wiebe
** Description changed:

I'm working on a deployment of Ubuntu 10.04 LTSP and the thin clients we have
are WYSE C90 series, C90LE and C90LEW.
These thin clients have a VIA VX855 chipset.

When the thin client PXE boots the video is all messed up and where the
login screen should be it's just a bunch of lines going up or down.

I've uploaded a youtube video of what it looks like.

So I've tried upgrading the openchrome and installed via package available
here:
  https://launchpad.net/~atomo64/+archive/ppa/+packages
Based on svn revision 856 of the openchrome source tree. Still NOGO.

This is a very important bug, I will do whatever needed and within my
  ability to get this fixed.

  Thanks!

[Bug 574409] Re: font not available as X font after installation

2010-05-27 Thread Arthur Wiebe
I am affected by the same issue. Installed the t1-xfree86-nonfree
package.

Under /usr/share/fonts/type1/t1-xfree86-nonfree I see all the fonts but
the fonts.dir and fonts.scale files were not there. So I ran mkfontscale
and mkfontdir which created those two files, then ran fc-cache,
restarted xfs, dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig, and nothing works.

None of the expected new fonts are listed under xlsfonts and I have no
idea what to do from here.
