[Bug 620100] Re: Kindprozess »exo-mount« konnte nicht ausgeführt werden (No such file or directory).
This happens in Natty. After upgrade from Maverick I cannot mount/unmount devices from the places plugin. If this is expected behaviour (which is anyway crappy behaviour, because it breaks previously perfectly working functionality), then I would like to ask what's the alternative? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/620100 Title: Kindprozess »exo-mount« konnte nicht ausgeführt werden (No such file or directory). -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 700720] [NEW] oggenc ignores --ignorelength switch, unable to process Large Wav files
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: vorbis-tools oggenc ignores the command line switch --ignorelength, which should enable it to process WAV files bigger than 2GB. In the current maverick version (also in the upstream trunk) dumping a DVD 5.1 audio track with mplayer and feeding the WAV to oggenc will stop encoding always exactly after 62 minutes of audio, or to be more precise after 3728.2 seconds. Usual command line is: $ mkfifo ./tmp/fifo $ oggenc --ignorelength -q1.9 -o tmp/audio.ogg ./tmp/fifo $ mplayer -really-quiet -channels 6 -aid 128 -ao pcm:fast:file=./tmp/fifo dvd://1 WARNING: WAV file uses side surround instead of rear for 5.1; remapping side speakers to rear in encoding. In this case, the track is 163 minutes, but I have tested with other DVDs always getting the same 62:08 minutes of resulting vorbis encoded. The problem is that mplayer sets the size on the WAV header to 2GB and oggenc then stops when it reaches that point. 2 GB corresponds to 62 minutes for 48 kHz, 6 channels, 16 bits/sample 2*1024³/(48000*6*2) = 3728.27 s = 62m08.27s. I attach a patch for vorbis-tools-1.4.0/oggenc/audio.c after which the same command above processes the full audio track: $ oggenc --ignorelength -q1.9 -o tmp/audio.ogg ./tmp/fifo $ mplayer -really-quiet -channels 6 -aid 128 -ao pcm:fast:file=./tmp/fifo dvd://1 WARNING: WAV file uses side surround instead of rear for 5.1; remapping side speakers to rear in encoding. [Bug 698338] [NEW] Error tearing down LUKS device
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hal I have an external USB harddrive with two NTFS partitions, one of which is LUKS encrypted. When I insert the HD hal recognizes both partitions and mounts them correctly. When I try to unmount the LUKS partition I get the following message in a popup error: Error tearing down /dev/sdb2 - fs still mounted?. The partition is unmounted but the DM device in /dev/mapper/ stays active. From the daemon.log I see: Jan 6 22:35:51 galar3 ntfs-3g[29282]: Version 2010.8.8 external FUSE 28 Jan 6 22:35:51 galar3 ntfs-3g[29282]: Mounted /dev/dm-2 (Read-Write, label LarryWD500, NTFS 3.1) Jan 6 22:35:51 galar3 ntfs-3g[29282]: Cmdline options: rw,nosuid,nodev,uhelper=hal,uid=1000,umask=0077 Jan 6 22:35:51 galar3 ntfs-3g[29282]: Mount options: rw,nosuid,nodev,uhelper=hal,allow_other,nonempty,relatime,fsname=/dev/dm-2,blkdev,blksize=4096,default_permissions Jan 6 22:35:51 galar3 ntfs-3g[29282]: Global ownership and permissions enforced, configuration type 1 Jan 6 22:36:19 galar3 ntfs-3g[29282]: Unmounting /dev/dm-2 (LarryWD500) Jan 6 22:36:19 galar3 hald: unmounted /dev/dm-2 from '/media/LarryWD500' on behalf of uid 1000 But: $ sudo cryptsetup status luks_crypto_3873f57c-7755-4c39-aaf1-1f16e780f305 /dev/mapper/luks_crypto_3873f57c-7755-4c39-aaf1-1f16e780f305 is active: cipher: serpent-cbc-essiv:sha256 keysize: 256 bits device: /dev/sdb2 offset: 2056 sectors size:956765084 sectors mode:read/write I then have to remove the mapping manually with: $ sudo cryptsetup luksClose luks_crypto_3873f57c-7755-4c39-aaf1-1f16e780f305 which completes its task without error, removing the mapping. If I don't remove the mapping manually and disconnect the HD, the next time I plug it, the LUKS partition is not automounted (the unencrypted partition is mounted alright but now as /dev/sdc1, whereas before it was /dev/sdb1). I followed the instructions from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingRemovableDevices and produced a hal.log and udev.log which I am attaching to this bug report. I don't know if this problem has to do with the fact that the Harddrive has 2 partitions, one encrypted and one unencrypted, but at the moment I don't have any other HD with just one partition in order to perform more tests. I'm using Xubuntu, i.e., with Xfce and Thunar as the file manager. I don't know if this problems arises on Gnome or KDE. Thanks for confirming. What I don't understand is why the kernel doesn't terminate the process consuming all memory, instead everything freezes and i have to reboot. To me, this is perhaps a regression of some type in the kernel. I seem to remember in times past, the kernel would kill processes consuming too much memory. I learnt that in linux every process is strictly caged, so to speak, and one process hanging would not hang the hole system. I mean, it is unacceptable linux is behaving this way. -- Loading www.yamana.com freezes Firefox and Linux. [Bug 611204] [NEW] Chart::Gnuplot should not depend on gnuplot, but on gnuplot-nox or gnuplot-x11
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libchart-gnuplot-perl Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description:Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS Release:10.04 Codename: lucid libchart-gnuplot-perl version: 0.12-1 I'm running amd64 architecture, but suspect this happens elsewhere. After installing Chart::Gnuplot via apt-get, I noticed I had a big bunch of X-related packages installed. On a headless server these X-related packages are unnecessary, since I will never display anything on that server, but I'm only interested in generating plots from perl scripts run through apache CGI. The problem is that libchart-gnuplot-perl depends on gnuplot, which depends on Xorg, since it was assumed the person installing gnuplot would use it interactively, displaying and inspecting plots on a desktop. I uninstalled the perl module and gnuplot-x11 (leaving installed gnuplot-nox) and then proceeded to install Chart::Gnuplot via the cpan perl utility. The plots on the headless server are now being generated on the fly from my perl CGI script and I freed some MBs of space (every byte of server space has a price, better to be thrifty there). I would however prefer to keep installing and managing my perl modules via APT, since this way I can keep better track of upgrades and dependencies. [Bug 328881] Re: init: support logging of job output
The way to fix that is for another developer (e.g. a community one) to pick it up. I'm so annoyed of not having boot logging that I might give it a shot at doing some C programming myself, but after bzr branch lp:upstar, i didn't know where to start hacking :-). That might mean I'm not the proper person to attempt this, however if anyone can point out where I can start losing my time in the source code, I might get a little encouraged and try again :-) One idea I had, for instance: I see that boot messages are sent to tty8, so my first idea would be to look at the code that does that and add functionality there to redirect a copy of this output to a file in /var/log/ or something like that. When entering slideshow mode, it doesn't matter which pictures I want to see, f-spot freezes completely and has to be killed: $ lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. [Bug 362883] Re: f-spot slideshow fails with Mesa 7.4 implementation error: bad wrapMode in clamp_rect_coord_linear
OK, here is another clue for the puzzle. If I prepend LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 as in: $ LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose f-spot --debug /tmp/f-spot.trace slideshow doesn't work as expected, instead I get the first picture distorted and the following images seem to pass by, but I only see an alternating green/blue/white screen. However I can exit slideshow mode pressing ESC. If I run without LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 as in: $ f-spot --debug /tmp/f-spot3.trace Then f-spot freezes as soon as I enter into slideshow mode. I hope this helps to pinpoint the culprit. Oh, I think I installed that mesa package to make GoogleEarth work, but now I don't remember where I got it from. Sorry. What about this (from the attached Xorg.0.log)? [mi] EQ overflowing. The server is probably stuck in an infinite loop. [mi] mieqEnequeue: out-of-order valuator event; dropping. It's a pity the Xorg log file doesn't show timestamps, because now I don't know if those errors are related to the problem at hand. So, which other clue do you suggest we look for? I'm all for looking, because I don't want to drop f-spot. Maybe if I try to upgrade the mesa libraries. [Bug 288070] Re: f-spot crashes when exporting to Zooomr
Hi Chris, Thanks, your patched packaged worked for me, at least on my first test exporting only one picture. f-spot was authorized and the the picture was sent to Zooomr as expected. The only complaint I have now is that tags are exported as one long string instead of as several different words, for instance, if I had tagged my picture with heidelberg, germany, the exported picture will appear on Zooomr tagged as heidelberg germany, which is not the intended behavior.
