Paul, does this mean I have to install compiz manager every time and fix this manually? Is it possible to customize HUD or any other shortcut invocation without really installing compiz manager (which seems too involved and dangerous for a normal user). Annoying when users keyboard layout switch is set to Alt+Shift combination. HUD must not be invoked by Alt key alone, please come up with another shortcut. To avoid annoyances user must install compiz mgr and then learn how to disable this feature. or will it be Ubuntu specific? Depends on whether it is more broadly adoped. But that's exactly the problem, Mark. What I thought makes difference in Ubuntu is its openness. Instead you are just trying to go the same path as the other guys with we know what's better for you, ignorant user. It would have been really good if you told the public the reason for the change in the button position. It would have been a much nicer way to do it, if you cared to explain what's on your mind. Overall, it seems that very little thought goes into what would users experience. Thought, your goal was to treat users like human beings. :-( P.S. I still think very highly about your Ubuntu in general and appreciate you being such a thorn in the back of Apple and Microsoft. But please don't begin to follow their marketing strategies, because that's what human beings actually hate. I wanted to add to my previous comment: one of the things that bugged me with Mac's interface is the left-side buttons.and their counter- intuitive nature. Windows-style buttons are common, useful, make sense. But I don't like Windows as OS, I would much rather use Linux based OS. I like Ubuntu a lot. But if I am counting on using it for years to come I want to be sure that whoever is involved in developing it does not position it as merely a software project, but rather as a mature platform, something reliable. Not providing users an easy way to use it as they find fit is called making it hard on purpose. From design perspective, it is a big deal. I think there is a GREAT benefit of enabling some kind of toggling for that setting. Not all web pages are created equal. Some display better if you Allow... some display better if that setting is disabled. It depends from site to site, from page to page even.
