[Bug 1914044] Re: [SRU] gstreamer fails with "cannot allocate memory in static TLS block" error on aarch64

[Where problems could occur] This is delicate code in glibc with quite regression potential. Said this, the code is in the next major release (2.32, while focal has 2.31), which has been running groovy for a while. [Bug 1924589] Re: Please update to 20210414.00 upstream release
** Description changed: [Impact] This package is provided by Google for installation within guests that run on Google Compute Engine. It is part of a collection of tools and daemons, that ensure that the Ubuntu images published to GCE run properly on their platform. Cloud platforms evolve at a rate that can't be handled in six-month increments, and they will often develop features that they would like to be available to customers who don't want to upgrade from earlier Ubuntu releases. As such, updating this package to more recent upstream releases is required within all Ubuntu releases, so they continue to function properly in their environment. [Test Case] When a new version of this package is uploaded to -proposed, the following will be done: - * an image based on -proposed will be built for GCE and published to the ubuntu-os-cloud-devel project - * the CPC team will write new automated tests to cover new testable functionality (if any) in the new package - * the automated testing that the CPC team normally runs against GCE images before they are published will be run against the -proposed image - * the GCE team will be asked to validate that the new package addresses the issues it is expected to address, and that the image passes their internal image validation. + * an image based on -proposed will be built for GCE and published to the ubuntu-os-cloud-devel project + * the CPC team will write new automated tests to cover new testable functionality (if any) in the new package + * the automated testing that the CPC team normally runs against GCE images before they are published will be run against the -proposed image + * the GCE team will be asked to validate that the new package addresses the issues it is expected to address, and that the image passes their internal image validation. If all the testing indicates that the image containing the new package is acceptable, verification will be considered to be done. [Other Information] This bug is used for tracking of releasing the new upstream version for all supported series, as per the approved policy mentioned in the following MRE: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/gce-compute-image-packages-Updates - The updated package is not built for armhf and riscv64 due to upstream - regressions but the package is not used on those architectures thus - please release the SRU without the armhf and risc64 binaries. + The updated package is not built for riscv64 on Focal, but it is not + used on riscv64 either, thus please release the SRU without the risc64 + binaries. The package does not build for powerpc on Xenial, but this is OK since it is not used on powerpc either. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1924589 Title: Please update to 20210414.00 upstream release To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/google-guest-agent/+bug/1924589/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1924589] [NEW] Please update the package to 20210414.00
Public bug reported: [Impact] This package is provided by Google for installation within guests that run on Google Compute Engine. [Test Case] When a new version of this package is uploaded to -proposed, the following will be done: * an image based on -proposed will be built for GCE and published to the ubuntu-os-cloud-devel project * the CPC team will write new automated tests to cover new testable functionality (if any) in the new package * the automated testing that the CPC team normally runs against GCE images before they are published will be run against the -proposed image * the GCE team will be asked to validate that the new package addresses the issues it is expected to address, and that the image passes their internal image validation. If all the testing indicates that the image containing the new package is acceptable, verification will be considered to be done. [Other Information] This bug is used for tracking of releasing the new upstream version for all supported series, as per the approved policy mentioned in the following MRE: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/gce-compute-image-packages-Updates The updated package is not built for armhf and riscv64 due to upstream regressions but the package is not used on those architectures thus please release the SRU without the armhf and risc64 binaries. The package does not build for powerpc on Xenial, but this is OK since it is not used on powerpc either. ** Affects: google-osconfig-agent (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - Please up + Please update the package to 20210414.00 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1924589 Title: Please update the package to 20210414.00 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/google-osconfig-agent/+bug/1924589/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1912652] Re: Upgrading libc6-lse breaks on systems it is in use
** Changed in: glibc (Ubuntu Groovy) Status: New => In Progress ** Description changed: + [Impact] + + * On arm64 systems supporting LSE and libc6-lse being installed an attempt to upgrade the package makes the upgrade fail and leave the system in an unusable state. + * Performing a release upgrade on such arm64 systems also break if the libc6-lse package was installed and it is also present in the target release. + + [Test Plan] + + * Set up an 8 core LSE system such as one of the AWS Graviton2 instances. + * If libc6-lse is installed, remove it. + * Compile and run the a.c test program attached in LP: #1885012 and measure the run time. + * Install libc6-lse (again). + * Reboot + * Upgrade to the fixed libc6 package which Provides libc6-lse. + * The upgrade should succeed and automatically remove the libc6-lse package. + * Run the compiled a.c again and observe it running much faster than with the standard libc6 package. + + [Where problems could occur] + + * The fix is compiling libc6 with -moutline-atomics which is in use + instead of shipping the libc6-lse separate binary package. + + [Other Info] + + [Original Bug Text] + Errors were encountered while processing: - /var/cache/apt/archives/libc6_2.32-0ubuntu3_arm64.deb + /var/cache/apt/archives/libc6_2.32-0ubuntu3_arm64.deb Exception during pm.DoInstall(): E:Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) ProblemType: Package DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04 Package: libc6 2.31-0ubuntu9.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.4.0-1035.37-aws 5.4.78 Uname: Linux 5.4.0-1035-aws aarch64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu27.14 Architecture: arm64 CasperMD5CheckResult: skip Date: Thu Jan 21 16:19:53 2021 Df: - + Dmesg: - + Ec2AMI: ami-0489277f0e9a94f8d Ec2AMIManifest: (unknown) Ec2AvailabilityZone: eu-central-1c Ec2InstanceType: t4g.micro Ec2Kernel: unavailable Ec2Ramdisk: unavailable ErrorMessage: new libc6:arm64 package post-removal script subprocess returned error exit status 127 Python3Details: /usr/bin/python3.8, Python 3.8.5, python3-minimal, 3.8.2-0ubuntu2 PythonDetails: N/A RelatedPackageVersions: - dpkg 1.19.7ubuntu3 - apt 2.0.2ubuntu0.2 + dpkg 1.19.7ubuntu3 + apt 2.0.2ubuntu0.2 SourcePackage: glibc Title: package libc6 2.31-0ubuntu9.1 failed to install/upgrade: new libc6:arm64 package post-removal script subprocess returned error exit status 127 UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to focal on 2021-01-21 (0 days ago) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1912652 Title: Upgrading libc6-lse breaks on systems it is in use To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glibc/+bug/1912652/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
