I have similar problem on Hardy Alpha with Java 6.
When I try to run WEKA software I get:

I found solution about using
export LIBXCB_ALLOW_SLOPPY_LOCK=true

It seems to be working. After setting up this variable application runs.
It still throws a lot of stuff to console (see attachment), but it runs.

[Bug 111571] Re: Tilda:9793 GTK Error

2007-10-24 Thread Bartek Szopka
I also found that the problem appears only in "Animated pooldown" (I
can't check now how this feature is called exactly) is switched OFF!

So with Animated Pooldown ON tilda works fine. It shows this GTK errors on
console but it works (you can hide it and show again).
And with Animated Pooldown OFF tilda works fine after start but after hiding
and showing it back again tilda window gets blank.

Hope it helps to track the bug.

[Bug 75295] Re: Feisty freeze, kernel (?) tries to access DVD drive

2007-09-24 Thread Bartek Szopka
I have Asus A6JC with TSSTcorpCD/DVD TS-L632D drive.

Previously I updated firmware from AS05 to AS99 but it didn't solve the problem.
I didn't know about -nocheck option that allows to install firmware from other
manufacturer :)

Following instructions posted above by Gareth
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.20/+bug/75295/comments/97
i installed SC03 firmware and it seems to be working for me both on feisty and
gutsy.

Yeah! Thank you Gareth! This was really annoying issue.

[Bug 111571] Re: Tilda:9793 GTK Error

2007-09-24 Thread Bartek Szopka
I get similar error on gutsy with tilda-0.09.4-4.

When I run it (even with clean configuration) I get all those errors:
(tilda:3502): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_set_geometry_hints: assertion
`GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed

(tilda:3502): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_move: assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW
(window)' failed

But tilda seems to be running. Window appears and everything works until I hide
tilda with hot-key.
When I try to get it back i shows blank white window (with no terminal).

I need to quit tilda and start it back to get it working again.

[Bug 75295] Re: Feisty freeze, kernel (?) tries to access DVD drive

2007-06-01 Thread Bartek Szopka
I have Asus A6JC notebook with our famous TSSTcorpCD/DVDW TS-L632D drive.

After updating from Edgy to Feisty release (the kernel was 2.6.20-15-generic) I
had a problem with random freezes when hald was running and CD drive was empty.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.20/+bug/64587
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.20/+bug/84603
The workaround was to kill/stop hald-addon-storare or put some cd/dvd into
drive.

Few days ago there was kernel update (to 2.16.20-16-generic) and the above
problem dissapeard. I could have cd drive empty with no freezes.
But when I once put a CD my feisty just hanged after few minutes with lots of
[ 681.88] hda: status timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy }
[ 681.88] ide: failed opcode was: unknown
[ 681.88] hda: drive not ready for command
in the output. And it happens almost every time I have a CD/DVD in drive. It
freezes my system so hard I don't even have a chance to get CD away or kill
hald.
I didn't notice these freezes when cd in drive is running (for example I watch
a movie or listen to audio cd).

I tried to update firmware (from AS05 to AS99) but it didn't help.
