Public bug reported:
I am using an LG P1 Express Dual Laptop, with an 82801G (ICH7 Family) High
Definition Audio Controller. It has 3 jacks, 5.1 channel sound and no digital
output, so the correct model should be 3stack-6ch (although i've treid all
others as well).
The Problem is, that i do not have any sound coming from the laptop's internal
speakers. Sound from the Headphones works fine.
I have already tried the following:
- Played with the sound settings in alsamixer. Depending on the model used in
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base i get different sets of controls, but no sound on the
speakers, in no possible setting
- Tried every model-setting that the alsa documentation listed for the ALC883
model. There is no entry there for the 82801G model and ALC883 is the soundcard
that shows up in dmesg if an unknown model is specified
- Installed the latest alsa (1.0.14rc3 for base and drivers, 1.0.14rc2 for
utils)
My guess is that there is a software switch that turns on the internal
speakers. It appears that this switch is ignored by alsa.
