[Bug 511668] [NEW] SSH uses login password even when empty password was specified in ssh-keygen
Public bug reported: Whenever I press Enter instead of putting in passphrase in ssh-keygen, login password is stored and requested anyway. I found "PermitEmptyPasswords no" in /etc/ssh/sshd_config and changed "no" to "yes". Then I restarted ssh daemon, but problem persisted. But this IMHO isn't problem of ssh daemon, but keygen itself. I didn't find parameter in /etc/ssh/ssh_config which would allow me to generate key without password. I tried to google for some help about empty password, but all I found was generic stuff for other distributions (skipping password as usual). I consider this usability bug, because it affects automation (like backup via ssh) as redundant and repetitive input is required, and introduces confusion. Also approach "User is moron, who is not psychically adept in deciding what he wants", which could lead to this bug as well is _not_ good practise. Please, fix this. Let ssh-keygen create keys without passwords by default. If not, at least modify ssh-keygen, so it doesn't confuse user by sentence "Enter passphrase (empty for no passphrase):" which clearly lies. Sorry for tone of report, if you feel it's sharp. I'm very upset about this issue as I spent some time searching for help to no avail. [Bug 395623] [NEW] GoldenDict needs packaging
Public bug reported: There is GoldenDict application for searching in dictionaries like Stardict, but written in Qt 4.5 and, unlike Stardict (which was dropped by developer), it is actively developed. The latest release has the following features: * Use of WebKit for an accurate articles' representation, complete with all formatting, colors, images and links. * Support of multiple dictionary file formats, namely: o Babylon .BGL files, complete with images and resources o StarDict .ifo/.dict./.idx/.syn dictionaries o Dictd .index/.dict(.dz) dictionary files o ABBYY Lingvo .dsl source files, together with abbreviations. The files can be optionally compressed with dictzip. Dictionary resources can be packed together into a .zip file. o ABBYY Lingvo .lsa/.dat audio archives. Those can be indexed separately, or be referred to from .dsl files. * Support for Wikipedia, Wiktionary, or any other MediaWiki-based sites to perform lookups in. * Ability to use arbitrary websites as dictionaries via templated Url patterns. * Hunspell-based morphology system, used for word stemming and spelling suggestions. * Ability to index arbitrary directories with audio files for pronunciation lookups. * Full Unicode case, diacritics, punctuation and whitespace folding. This means the ability to type in words without any accents, correct case, punctuation or spaces (e.g. typing 'Grussen' would yield 'grüßen' in German dictionaries). * Scan popup functionality. A small window pops up with the translation of a word chosen from another application. * Support for global hotkeys. You can spawn the program window at any point, or directly translate a word from the clipboard. * Tabbed browsing in a modern Qt 4 interface. * Free software: GNU GPLv3+ license. [Bug 366881] [NEW] Network driver atl1e malfunctioning
Public bug reported: In up to date kernel in Jaunty I encountered on my PC nasty bug. It resulted in corrupted packages where checksum didn't match. Of course, this can damage other downloaded files as well, but these usually don't have checksums and so problem isn't so obvious. Network card is integrated on motherboard M4A78 PRO. lspci 02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Attansic Technology Corp. Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 PCI-E Ethernet Controller (rev b0) I had to run update-pciids before running ldpsi, though. Correct OSS driver is provided on CD bundled with motherboard (see attachment which actually isn't patch, but whole source) or can be downloaded here: http://jan.ucc.nau.edu/wal2/atheros_attansic.html but I tested inly that provided in attachemnt. After installing that new driver, I no longer have problems with incorrect checksums. That module can be compiled and installed this way: sudo KBUILD_NOPEDANTIC=1 make install As I said, it is officialy supplied driver and thus should cause no harm. License is GPLv2. I hope it shall be incorporated soon. Thank you for your work. Re: [Bug 220224] Re: Hibernate/Suspend doesn't work on Jaunty on HP530
Currently is suspend to disk rather weird. It suspends, then it starts quickly, but I'm not logged into KDE with restored apps. However, I spotted, that when I before suspend switch to terminal (Ctrl+Alt+F1), login and run some command, it is here after resume. That is why I think, that resume happens, that it isn't normal boot. [Bug 323639] [NEW] Lokalize doesn't load statistics of files in project in JJ
Public bug reported: Hi. I have latest update of Lokalize in JJ (whole JJ up to date). I spotted, that there is problem with it to load statistics of translations. I have configured it in same manner as in openSUSE, where this works, so I think, that there isn't problem with configuration. So, I have it configured to load directory containing whole KDE localization tree (as in openSUSE) and if I visit each directory, containing po files, it should display coloured bar displaying percentage of translated/fuzzy/untranslated strings for each fileand whole directory. None of these work in Ubuntu. No statistics of single file or directory, no coloured bars. But when I open single file, it shows how many strings aren't translated. Please fix it. Re: [Bug 303011] Re: [i945] 2.5.1 driver poor performance
Guys, try "glxinfo | grep render". Most probably you have sw rendering. For no obvious reason, I couldn't get hw acceleration working. That is reason of performance drop. I didn't try compiz with it, gut in glxgears I experienced drom from ~1000 fps to ~300 fps. However, upgrading by edgers repository brought hw acceleration back, glxgears improved to ~450 fps and Compiz runs pretty smoothly to me. Although some minor glitches are visible as performance is still below that I had in Intrepid. So, try to upgrade packages with edgers repository. It should help. [Bug 272861] [NEW] kbabel missing in 8.10
Public bug reported: Although it is perhaps intentional, I must report it as bug. I know, that Lokalize is expected to be replacement of kbabel, but for now it cannot be. Problem is, that Lokalize doesn't perform any syntax checks. Kbabel can do it and also jump to next error. Disabling acpi-support and starting it manually later provides some workaround. # lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/PM/GMS, 943/940GML and 945GT Express Memory Controller Hub (rev 03) 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) 00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Port 1 (rev 01) 00:1c.1 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Port 2 (rev 01) 00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 01) 00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller (rev 01) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev e1) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82801GBM (ICH7-M) LPC Interface Bridge (rev 01) 00:1f.1 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) IDE Controller (rev 01) 00:1f.2 SATA controller: Intel Corporation 82801GBM/GHM (ICH7 Family) SATA AHCI Controller (rev 01) 02:06.0 CardBus bridge: ENE Technology Inc CB1410 Cardbus Controller (rev 01) 02:08.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82562ET/EZ/GT/GZ - PRO/100 VE (LOM) Ethernet Controller Mobile (rev 01) 10:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection (rev 02) Acpidump in attachement. ** Affects: acpi-support (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- black screen with acpi-support runing on startup on II https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/261621 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 228265] [NEW] [Feature request] FatRat download manager
Public bug reported: Hi. I'd like to ask for FatRat download manager to be added to packages. Program is licensed under GPL v2. More info here: http://fatrat.dolezel.info/content/view/12/26/lang,en/ FatRat is an open source download manager for Linux/Unix systems written in C++ with the help of the Trolltech Qt 4 library. It is rich in features and is continuously developed. The current SVN version supports HTTP, FTP, SFTP and BitTorrent downloads/uploads, HTTP/FTP including the proxy support. The transfer speed can be limited, of course. FatRat can perform torrent searches using various search engines, create torrents, compute MD4/MD5/SHA1 hashes, verify RapidShare.com links, download whole RapidShare.com folders, decode RapidSafe links, upload files to RapidShare.com etc. One of the newest things are remote control via Jabber and a RSS reader (with TV shows support). Planned features include Java-applet based web interface, (S)FTP browser and more. Program requires also rasterbar-libtorrent. Info about building is here: http://fatrat.dolezel.info/content/view/13/28/lang,en/ Thank you very much. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Wishlist Status: New ** Tags: needs-packaging -- [Feature request] FatRat download manager https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/228265 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I would do it. However, I'm not able to reproduce it. So most probably it is fixed. PS: Thanks for link.
