  Stillhappening;
especially if a video is in a tab; ( currently using 7 open tabs)

- ALso, one often has to go into system monitor to kill Firefox, as
clicking the upper right "X" doesn't do it.

Thanks

[Bug 304797] [NEW] No " Open PDF file With This application "clearly marked in Ubuntu 8.04

2008-12-03 Thread Ben Berry
Public bug reported:

Greetings:

When presented with a PDF file, there is no clearly marked application
to open / view it with.

This is probably so simple that the instructions were not included in
office suite or in Ubuntu help.

The obvious default ( Office Word Processor) crashes, presenting a Hex
Dump.

- which I cannot decipher !

I do like ubuntu, but it would be stronger if this problem were
resolved.

Thanks

[Bug 239132] Re: OpenOffice Writer crashes when opening PDF

2008-12-03 Thread Ben Berry

In office, there are choices of

calandar
presentation
database
spread sheet
word processor

There is no clearly marked application to open PDF files, which most consider a
document.
the default is "open office"

this crashes when attempting to open a PDF file

In my opinion ( Your mileage may vary )
An application for opening PDF files should be clearly marked in Ubuntu, else
Open office should show an error message and make a suggestion as to what
document processor / program the user should use.

Thanks

Ben
