[Bug 1898712] Re: fusiondirectory fails with fatal error

2021-02-27 Thread Benjamin Long
THE ABOVE COMMENT HAS A BAD URL!
Why can't I edit or delete my comments? ugh.

Here are the correct commands:
# curl
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/fusiondirectory/fusiondirectory/1.3-fixes/html/include/tsorter.js
 > /usr/share/fusiondirectory/html/include/tsorter.js
# curl
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/fusiondirectory/fusiondirectory/1.3-fixes/include/class_Language.inc
 > /usr/share/fusiondirectory/include/class_Language.inc
# curl
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/fusiondirectory/fusiondirectory/1.3-fixes/include/class_ldapSizeLimit.inc
 > /usr/share/fusiondirectory/include/class_ldapSizeLimit.inc
# fusiondirectory-setup --update-cache

2021-02-27 Thread Benjamin Long
This is fixed in Debian packaging:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=963075

I can confirm that adding the files listed in the above Debian bug fixes
this issue. I was able to do it manually with curl as such:

# curl
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/fusiondirectory/fusiondirectory/1.3-fixes/html/include/tsorter.js
 > /usr/share/fusiondirectory/html/include/tsorter.js
# curl

# curl

[Bug 1906684] Re: [SRU] libreoffice 6.4.7 for Focal

2021-01-19 Thread Benjamin Long
I'm marking this bug as 'Affects Me' because I've been bit by this upstream bug
that's fixed in 6.4.7:
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=124470

TL;DR: There's a bug in 6.4.6 that causes it to not save table
properties when saving with the options "Embed fonts" and "Only embed
fonts that are used". It really wrecks the workflow.

[Bug 1849178] Re: upgrading linux-image package to 4.15.0-66.75 breaks Ceph network file system clients

2019-10-25 Thread Benjamin Long
Po-Hsu Lin,

The kernel from proposed (4.15.0-67) on bionic seems to be working
without this issue. There's no panic in the logs, and I can log in as an
end user with a cephfs home directory without a problem.

2019-10-21 Thread Benjamin Long
Running apport-collect doesn't seem to want to complete. I'm getting
dots across the terminal, and the load average on the machine is 4.0.
It's on it's 17th row of dots. :|

I'm going to try to run it again after a reboot, before the bug is
triggered.

[Bug 1754075] Re: apt-setup uses apt-key but probably should not anymore

2019-01-21 Thread Benjamin Long
I've just been bitten by this bug while upgrading our business
PXE/preseed installations from Xenial to Bionic. We use an internal
private repository for company specific packages. I'm unable to get the
apt key installed with the preseed, so nothing works.

I'm going to attempt the workaround mentioned above.

After briefly testing to make sure things looked sane, I pushed the
update out via our internal repo. No problems so far, but I'll post here
if anything comes up.

[Bug 1737033] Re: upgrading linux-image package to 4.4.0-103.126 breaks Ceph network file system connection

2017-12-12 Thread Benjamin Long
I noticed that kernel 4.4.0-104 is in proposed while poking around for
something else. I've installed it on my virtualbox test mule and it's
working. I can mount Ceph without any issues.

I'm going to test a few things, then push this out to my workstations
using my in-house repo. I'll let you know if I have any other issues
with it.

[Bug 1737033] [NEW] upgrading linux-image package to 4.4.0-103.126 breaks Ceph network file system connection

2017-12-07 Thread Benjamin Long
Public bug reported:

After clients have upgraded to 4.4.0-103.126 they can no longer connect
to the Ceph network.

Using the Grub menu to boot the previous kernel fixes the issue.

The error in dmesg is:

[ 46.811897] FS-Cache: Loaded
[ 46.843670] Key type ceph registered
[ 46.844177] libceph: loaded (mon/osd proto 15/24)

[ 46.897491] ceph: mds parse_reply err -5
[ 46.897492] ceph: mdsc_handle_reply got corrupt reply mds0(tid:1)

All clients are running ceph client version:
ii ceph-fs-common10.2.9-0ubuntu0.16.04.1

Server nodes are running 10.2.6 packages as supplied by Ceph.

All 10.2.* versions are compatible. Using the previous kernel allows the
connection to work.

[Bug 1676376] Re: package cups-daemon 2.1.3-4 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 1

2017-03-27 Thread Benjamin Long
Manually refreshing the apt-cacher-ng cache did not solve the issue.

The package list file at:

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/xenial-updates/main/binary-
amd64/Packages.gz

does not have cups-daemon in it. It seems it has not been updated with
the new dependency on the package servers.

The package list at:

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/xenial/main/binary-
amd64/Packages.gz

contains cups-daemon but with the outdated dependency.

I checked these files by manually pulling them via web browser. There is
no cache or proxy involved on my end.

Here's a couple of hacky oneliners to test with.

Check dists/xenial:
# wget -qO -
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/xenial/main/binary-amd64/Packages.gz |
zcat -c | grep -A 20 'Package: cups-daemon' | grep '^Package\|^Depends' | grep
--color -E 'libcups2|$'

Check dists/xenial-updates:
# wget -qO -
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/xenial-updates/main/binary-amd64/Packages.gz
 | zcat -c | grep -A 20 'Package: cups-daemon' | grep '^Package\|^Depends' |
grep --color -E 'libcups2|$'

The second test returns nothing, since cups-daemon isn't in the package
list yet.

[Bug 1676376] Re: package cups-daemon 2.1.3-4 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 1

2017-03-27 Thread Benjamin Long
Interestingly, the page at http://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial-updates
/cups-daemon shows the dependency has already been updated to =
2.1.3-4ubuntu0.2. Could this be a caching issue? I'm using apt-cacher-
ng, so I'm going to try to force it to update.

[Bug 1676376] Re: package cups-daemon 2.1.3-4 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 1

2017-03-27 Thread Benjamin Long
I'm also getting this on all the office workstations here.

I think the source of the issue is this:

cups-daemon : Depends: libcups2 (= 2.1.3-4) but 2.1.3-4ubuntu0.2 is to
be installed

It looks like the cups-daemon package needs to have it's dependency on
libcups2 updated from 2.1.3-4 to 2.1.3-4ubuntu0.2.

[Bug 93911] Re: console-setup and ubuntu-minimal report configuration errors during apt-get upgrades

2007-03-20 Thread Benjamin Long
I'm on Kubuntu Feisty as well. Upgrading reports error 20 in console-
setup.postinst. Attaching strace output. This is extremely annoying, and
confuses the heck out of adept updater, which just says there was an
error upgrading.

Just to note... it seems this has been fixed in herd 5, which has an all
new partitioning system for the installer. I guess we can close this
bug. :)

[Bug 87418] Partitioning very confusing in Kubuntu install

2007-02-23 Thread Benjamin Long
Public bug reported:

When installing Kubuntu from the desktop CD, the manual partitioning
screen is far to confusing. When QtParted starts, I can edit my partions
just fine. However, after committing the changes QtParted stays open. If
I close QtParted, then hit the next button in the installer, it tells me
that QtParted crashed and restarts it. It turns out that I'm supposed to
leave QtParted open, switch to the installer, then hit next. This is
very unintuitive. QtParted should close when the changes are finished
committing, and the installer should automatically go to the next step.
