[Bug 2060296] [NEW] Cursor missing in aera screeshot - 22.04 wayland
Public bug reported: Whether I use gnome-screeshot 4.1-2 or embedded Ubuntu capture tool in Jammy 22.04 to capture only a part of a window, then I can't get the capture to show the cursor. Embedded Ubuntu tool always shows a "cross cursor" to move the selected aera, which prevents to capture the particular shape of the cursor within the aera, and has not the timer option that would allow to hoover over the very zone I wan't to show the cursor when on it (Although I can hit the Enter or Space key to start the capture - not documented)). gnome-screenshot has the time option but fails to capture the cursor. Cursor capture only works in fullscreen or window modes. ** Affects: gnome (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - Cursor missing + Cursor missing in aera capture - 22.04 wayland ** Summary changed: - Cursor missing in aera capture - 22.04 wayland + Cursor missing in aera screeshot - 22.04 wayland ** Description changed: Whether I use gnome-screeshot 4.1-2 or embedded Ubuntu capture tool in Jammy 22.04 to capture only a part of a window, then I can't get the capture to show the cursor. [Bug 1971042] [NEW] remap Fn+F3 to gnome-power-statistics instead of no-use OSD ( L322X 22.04 )
Public bug reported: Hi I migrated my Dell XPS L322X to 22.04 Fn+F3 combo won't trigger gnome-power-statistics anymore the way it did since the sputnik project up to the last upgrade to Trusty. I can't remap with keyboard settings custom shortcuts: when I do this the combo keystroke is detected fine by the GUI that displays "Batterie" (Battery), but the keystroke still brings up the useless OSD (redundant as we already have the battery/mains indicator in the top bar) and won't launch the application. [Bug 1887564] Re: Laptop XPS13 can't sleep Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS when USB3 device is/was attached.
Hi Alex. I tried your advice with my Eth adapter attached then detached, both with XHC enabled or disabled, but the laptop can't sleep. I didn't try booting with the external device attached. I see in my BIOS (latest available A10 rev. from oct. 2013) there are some USB related parameters that I cannot understand all or consequences: USB Emulation: (Enabled) If enabled, defines how the BIOS controls USB devices. USB Powershare: (Enabled) If enabled, external devices can be charged even when the computer is turned off. USB Wake Support: (Disabled) If enabled, USB devices can be configured to wake the computer from Standby. ... External USB Ports: (Enabled) Allows you to enable or disable external USB ports. [Bug 1832337] Re: Require password when starting usb-creator
IIUC, when anyone who plugs a removable USB stick in a PC it is mounted in /media// and, as long as the FS in the device does not support privileges attributes (e.g. FAT32), anyone is granted the rights to overwrite anything (but partitions ?) in the device. So I don't see why anyone would be bored with authentication for this task. Oh, ok. I wasn't skilled enough to run all the tests freedesktop asked. I don't know if a single sample as given there by Sean IIRC is enough accurate for such a HID that may have its sensitivity range spread around some typical value supplied by the manufacturer. Then maybe it would be worth converting the values from xserver-xorg-input-synaptics to libinput as at least in my l322x, the touchpad was really easy to use. I read the touchpad range bug 1586683. [Bug 1746740] Re: XPS13 L322X Bionic (daily dev) touchpad laggy
Just tried : neither this issue with Trusty K4.4.0-112 nor K4.15.1 real installs. Only met it with Bionic-dev-Live-K4. I also tried the Live USB with acpi_osi=Linux as seen (but not mandatory) in my usual /etc/default/grub, with no difference : touchpad cursor still laggy, often locks for a while. I noticed that when the touchpad is glued in position on the screen, it is still responsive on right and bottom sides, although the option ~scroll on sides~ is disabled by default in Devices settings. Changing the option as no effect, neither as disabling default enabled 2-Fingers-Scroll. An other strange issue I met with the Live USB : when I reboot from Live, I can't go back in Live with my BIOS F12 Select boot drive: even when I select USB Live, then the usual grub menu is displayed. I have to completely shutdown the laptop so that USB boot selection works, when this is not the case when I reboot from usual installed Trusty. [Bug 1746740] Re: XPS13 L322X Bionic (daily dev) touchpad laggy
So I don't know howto test the upstream kernel with Bionic in this machine without overwriting my currently installed Trusty. [Bug 1746357] Re: Boot loop MSI A88XM35 AMD APU A8-5600K (Aruba HD7560D)
News : please note that when creating the new stick over the existing one I wasn't prompted to create persistent storage (maybe the disk- creator used the one previously created, I don't know, but a new dummy folder on the desktop in the daily-bionic live once first booted as a check for this question didn't survive next reboot, so I assume the whole key is read only). So : first boot and following ones, after select a space key hit in the splash screen I now get the semi-graphical menu to select language, keyboard, etc... First boot I only choose French then Enter : all good to the Ubuntu desktop. Here I tried to find something special is in /etc/default/grub and don't see anything. System details just show Aruba for video, but repository manager says no proprietary is in use. Next boots just loop (strange)! [Bug 1746357] Re: Boot loop MSI A88XM35 AMD APU A8-5600K (Aruba HD7560D)
I can't boot the system: after selecting the live USB as the boot drive, a message displays 1s repetitive ~CRC32~* or something like that. Then I have to type TAB key (nothing on screen drives to this action). Once TAB key was pressed, I select "live" option, then the system reboots in seconds. I also tried "help" but before I can read the whole F2-F10 that keep scrolling up out of the screen at the same rate the ~CRC32~ did, the installer takes some option the reboots on its own. I also tried F4 but nothing helpful happened. *BTW, I checked MD5SUM iso download : md5sum bionic-desktop-amd64.iso was 064ab6173bc942d3327098f57748182e from today (2018-01-29 08:00) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1746357 Title: Boot loop MSI A88XM35 AMD APU A8-5600K (Aruba HD7560D) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1746357/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
