I also have this problem connecting to my Samsung TV over HDMI.

Also, I really don't think this is a duplicate of #270201

[Bug 295619] [NEW] Enabling Desktop Effects results in white screen.

2008-11-08 Thread Bill Egert
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: desktop-effects

Using Kubuntu 8.10 in a VirtualBox VM.

Via System Settings > Desktop > Desktop Effects:
 Checked "Enable desktop effects"
 Unchecked all effects
 Clicked Apply

This resulted in a white screen. I could get back to the login screen
from a restart, but logging in still results in the white screen again.

Let me know what I can do to help.

Tried 8.10 alternative CD, Partinioning myself didn't sem to work on the CD, so
I let it re-partition how it wanted to. Erased everything and then got stuck
somewhere.

So basically my laptop is useless to me now and I could NOT verify that
this bug has been fixed.

[Bug 126760] Re: KDE: Transparency problem when coming from an empty desktop

2007-10-22 Thread Bill Egert
I have this problem as well. The best way I seem to be able to
reproduce it is as follows:

1) Have a couple applications running.
2) Minimize one to the panel.
3) Select another application to be the focus.
4) Select the minimized application from the panel.
5) This application will now have focus but still be transparent.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

[Bug 116226] Re: echo does not handle escapes any more

2007-09-17 Thread Bill Egert
Tested this in Feisty and problem exists.

I thought it amusing that when trying to look at the versions I got
this:

[Bug 139516] Dolphin crashes when setting view properties to show hidden files.

2007-09-13 Thread Bill Egert
Public bug reported:

Installed Kubuntu (Tribe 5 fully updated as of 9/13/07)

Using Dolphin 0.9.2 with KDE 3.5.7

Through View -> Adjust View Properties. If I select the View Mode as
Details, check the Show hidden files box, and click Apply, I get a
signal 11 SIGSEV.

I will attach the backtrace.

Please let me know if there is any way I can help.

[Bug 42467] Re: [Dapper LiveCD Beta2] conky flickers

2007-09-11 Thread Bill Egert
The workaround in Kubuntu 7.04 (adding "dbe") works but this also hides
your desktop icons. A better solution is needed.

using the workaround above and also adding these to the conky configuration
file seems to at least solved the flickering for me.

I see this problem in Kubuntu 7.04.

Not sure if this workaround is Gnome specific?
