[Bug 1854438] Re: Debootstrap Ubuntu Focal fails due to an issue in console-common 0.7.91

2020-10-30 Thread Bill Kearney
I can duplicate this error, using 20.04 x64. This is presenting show-
stopper problems trying to get LXC set up.

[Bug 1199345] Re: Can't install on Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 SP1 (error video)

2013-10-19 Thread Bill Kearney
FWIW, I've noticed similar video corruption when attempting to install
13.10 deskop (either 32 or 64) in a freshly created Hyper-V install on
Windows 2008 R2. The video's all screwy.

[Bug 386742] Re: [Karmic] Phonon includes NOT found!

2010-02-10 Thread Bill Kearney
What worked for me was to completely remove the libphonon4 package and
then reinstall the phonon. libphonon-dev, libqt4-phonon and libqt4
-phonon-dev packages. Didn't dig into it further. Doing this allowed
me to get the latest ktorrent version to build on karmic.

[Bug 454164] Re: likewise-open5-eventlog doesn't properly install

2009-10-19 Thread Bill Kearney
Can you confirm that the file /etc/likewise-open5/eventlogd.conf
actually got created during the install?

I tried using the 'remove completely' option in synaptic before doing a
fresh install again. Same deal, no evenlogd.conf file got copied.

I then did an apt-get remove, followed by an apt-get install of it
again. Same problem, file /etc/likewise-open5/eventlogd.conf did not
get created.

I noticed this file being missing because over messages in the logs. I
had some other samba/AD related setup hassles so I was trying the use of
likewise and was having a bit of trouble with it.

Making me wonder, if one file is inexplicably missing, what others
aren't getting installed?

[Bug 454164] [NEW] likewise-open5-eventlog doesn't properly install

2009-10-17 Thread Bill Kearney
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: likewise-open5

I've just begun trying to use likewise-open5 on Jaunty and it doesn't
appear to be installing itself properly. I've used the Synaptics
package manager to mark it and apply it for installation. It appears to
run. But in checking things aren't getting installed as per their
'installed files' list.

I've no idea why, nor do I have a firm idea how to debug it. I'm open
to suggestions and/or debugging steps.

I checked the contents of the .deb file stored in
/var/cache/apt/archives and it DOES contain the files. One such file
that doesn't get installed is /etc/likewise-open5/eventlogd.conf

I could, of course, just manually extract and install the files. But
this troubles me as the package should be able to install itself
properly, or at the very least not silently fail.

This is what was listed in the dpkg.log:
