[Bug 1950803] Re: Samba vfs_full_audit reports everything

2021-11-15 Thread Bjoern Voigt
Please check your log files. You may have this line:

smbd_audit[.]: Could not find opname rename, logging all

This means, that Samba is logging everything, because "rename" opname is
not found. You have to use different names:

rename -> renameat
unlink -> unlinkat

After that, logging works fine

[Bug 334191]

2016-07-16 Thread Bjoern Voigt
(In reply to Rolf Eike Beer from comment #88)
> Even if it is unrelated to that bug: for OpenSUSE you have the possibility
> to just install the package ca-certificates-cacert and have it in the system
> store without further work.

Yes, thanks. I already have this package installed.

Your tip can be seen as a general work-around for incomplete SSL support
in KDE. Root certificates can be always installed system-wide.

Personally I am currently more interested in importing my SSL client
certificate, so that KDE applications like Dolphin, Konqueror or Dolphin
can use it for authentication purposes. Here I don't see a possibility
to do this system-wide and in KDE it's not possible. This problem
matches the title of this bug, but not the description. See #319049.

[Bug 334191]

2016-07-16 Thread Bjoern Voigt
(In reply to Rick Alther from comment #84)
> I know this is old, but this is still an issue with KDE 4.12.3 (Fedora 20).
> * I go into the SSL Preferences of the System Settings
> * Click Add...
> * Select a .der CA certificate. The dialog goes away and the certificate is
> not listed in the SSL Signers. It just silently fails.
The situation is still the same (tested on openSUSE Tumbleweed 20160625). I use
KDE Plasma 5.6.4 and KDE Frameworks 5.23.0.

systemsettings (KDE 4, package kdebase4-workspace-addons) has a SSL
configuration, but it does not add the Cacert.org root certificates
(https://wiki.cacert.org/FAQ/ImportRootCert#KDE). systemsettings5 has no
SSL section.

> Being able to add trusted CA certs is important, particularly in enterprises.
Yes, I agree. Strong authentication (e.g. with SSL client certificates and
smart cards) becomes more and more important.

[Bug 881046]

2012-10-22 Thread Bjoern Voigt
Thanks Chris for your patch Sample fix for panning/scaling.

openSUSE Linux users can test Xorg server (package xorg-x11-server) with
this patch included. openSUSE users find the temporary and experimental
openSUSE repository here:

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/bjoernv:/branches:/openSUSE:/12.2:/Update/standard/

I find the old panning feature very useful. With an old ATI Radeon
Mobility 9200 graphics card, I can extent the 1024x768 desktop until
4096x4096. With an more recent ATI Radeon HD 3450 I can extend until
8192x8192.

Unfortunately the support for panning within the KDE desktop poor. I
miss special maximize and fullscreen functions for big virtual screen.

My xrandr setting for testing (3072x768 virtual desktop on a 1024x768
Laptop (LVDS) screen):

xrandr --output LVDS --panning 3072x768

I have no problems with touchpad and external mouse.

[Bug 733507] Re: cpufreqd assert failure: *** glibc detected *** /usr/sbin/cpufreqd: free(): invalid pointer: 0x09067b10 ***

2011-11-01 Thread Bjoern Voigt
With some debugging I found, that cpufreqd crashes within the plugin
cpufreqd_acpi.so. The function acpi_battery_update tries to read battery
information in sysfs (/sys directory) with libsysfs functions. Because
of an invalid pointer cpufreqd crashes here.

I could work around this bug with renaming the cpufreqd_acpi.so plugin.
Unfortunately the functions of this plugin are essential. Without this
plugin cpufreqd cannot read battery status and other important
information.

[Bug 821052] Re: No sound after upgrade to Ubuntu 11.10

2011-10-24 Thread Bjoern Voigt
I also had no sound after upgrading to Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot
(Kubuntu edition). Pulseaudio crashes every time.

After some debugging I found, that this debug output can be helpful:

$ pulseaudio -v
[...]
W: [pulseaudio] module.c: module-combine is deprecated: Please use
module-combine-sink instead of module-combine!
W: [pulseaudio] module-combine.c: We will now load module-combine-sink. Please
make sure to remove module-combine from your configuration.
I: [pulseaudio] sink.c: Created sink 1 combined with sample spec s16le 2ch
44100Hz and channel map front-left,front-right
I: [pulseaudio] sink.c: device.class = filter
I: [pulseaudio] sink.c: device.description = Simultaneous Output
I: [pulseaudio] sink.c: device.icon_name = audio-card
I: [pulseaudio] source.c: Created source 2 combined.monitor with sample spec
s16le 2ch 44100Hz and channel map front-left,front-right
I: [pulseaudio] source.c: device.description = Monitor of Simultaneous
Output
I: [pulseaudio] source.c: device.class = monitor
I: [pulseaudio] source.c: device.icon_name = audio-input-microphone
I: [combine] core-util.c: Successfully enabled SCHED_RR scheduling for thread,
with priority 6.
Killed

I could not directly change module-combine to module-combine-sink
because both modules could not be found in my pulseaudio configuration:

$ grep -R combine /etc/pulse/ ~/.pulse
[... no hit...]

But renaming /usr/lib/pulse-1.0/modules/module-combine.so helped. Now
Pulseaudio starts again.

[Bug 677665] [NEW] umount problem with trailing slashes

2010-11-19 Thread Bjoern Voigt
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: util-linux

The umount program can not unmount CIFS shares if the CIFS address has
no a trailing slash and if the user option is enabled.

One example:

From /etc/fstab:
//linux/steve/media/test cifsdefaults,user,user=steve   0 0

$ mount /media/test
Password:

$ mount | grep /media/test
//linux/steve/ on /media/test type cifs (rw,mand,nosuid,nodev,user=steve)

$ umount /media/test
umount: /media/test mount disagrees with the fstab

After some searching, I found that //linux/steve/ from mount (or
/etc/mtab or /proc/mounts) has a trailing slash, but //linux/steve
from /etc/fstab has no trailing slash. Anyway mounting as normal user
works, but unmounting does not work. As a workaround, I can add a
trailing slash to the entry in /etc/fstab:

//linux/steve//media/test cifsdefaults,user,user=steve   0 0

I think, that umount should be more tolerant with trailing slashes.
The canonicalize function currently does not handle the problem right.

I tested with
mount from util-linux-ng 2.17.2 (with libblkid and selinux support) - from
Ubuntu 10.10
and with
mount from util-linux-ng 2.17.2 (with libblkid support) - from Launchpad
(with util-linux_2.17.2-3.3ubuntu1.diff.gz)

[Bug 303515] Re: passwd indicates password updated although it wasn't

2009-03-12 Thread Bjoern Voigt
Also with the latest updates passwd sometimes reports successful
password changes, but password leaves unchanged.

Here is an example. The new example password could not be set by the
user, because the password has already been used:

$ passwd
Changing password for user1.
Old Password:
New Password:
Password has been used already. Choose another.
New Password:
Password has been used already. Choose another.
New Password:
Control-C

This behavior is ok. But now I try to change the password for the same
user als root:

$ sudo -i
# passwd user1
Enter new UNIX password:
Retype new UNIX password:
passwd: password updated successfully

The problem is that passwd reports a successful password change, but
the old password is still used.

I use a standard passwd/PAM configuration (created with pam-auth-update
--force and these options
 [ ] likewise-open
 [*] unix
 [*] consolekit).

[Bug 303515] Re: passwd indicates password updated although it wasn't

2009-03-12 Thread Bjoern Voigt
Please forget my last comment. After calling pam-auth-update --force
the passwd/PAM setup now works. Password history as in my last comment
is now disabled.

[Bug 299560] Re: Insecure xfs start/stop script

2009-01-09 Thread Bjoern Voigt
Here is the output of `lspci -vvnn`. But I don't think that this is a
hardware related bug.
