[Bug 1203888] Re: appindicator ignores menu entries after having sent the menu to the indicator
For application developers, I think a work-around to this problem might be simply to call indicator.set_menu(menu) again after any call to menu.append(item). Although it shouldn't be necessary, it works fine with earlier versions of python-appindicator. Calling set_menu(menu) with the same menu that is already registered seems to be OK. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1203888 Title: appindicator ignores menu entries after having sent the menu to the indicator To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/glipper/+bug/1203888/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

In my case, high memory/CPU utilization in polkitd and CPU utilization in dbus was the result of repeated calls to nm-tool that I was making in conky to determine my wireless essid. [Bug 546224] [NEW] configured console resolution overriden when KMS is enabled
Public bug reported: When KMS is enabled in Lucid (this may be true on Karmic too, but I no longer have a machine running Karmic for testing), the console resolution that I have configured via settings in /etc/default/grub is overridden. The system uses the screen's full resolution instead. [Bug 454399] Re: shiki-brave-theme shows pink where blue is specified
The problem was seen with the daily alternate install image from 10/17/2009. After seeing that the problem appears to be related to the use of shade, I then looked for themes installed on my system that use this functionality. I found Industrial, Mist, Albatross, Crux, and Clearlooks. It's hard for me to know for sure, because I haven't used any of those themes on a different system, but they all appear to have the same problem. With Albatross, the menu selection shows up in pink. With Clearlooks, Crux, and Mist, the selected item in a combobox shows up in pink when the window is not selected. With Industrial, the same is true, but not for all comboxes ... only for those, like update manager, where some items have colored backgrounds. Shiki-Brave is the one theme that uses this functionality very extensively, so there are a lot of elements impacted. However, the fact that a handful of other themes are also displaying incorrectly indicates that it is not a problem with the Shiki-Brave theme itself. I'm just not sure which package to assign the bug to instead. [Bug 355721] Re: Jaunty won't source .xsession
I have tried on Hardy, Intrepid, and Jaunty, and they are all consistent in their behavior where .xsession is concerned. The only way to have .xsession executed is to select the 'Run Xclient script' session type in gdm. Note that .xsession is not sourced in any of these releases, but executed, and when executed, it is responsible for handling all session startup, perhaps by running gnome-session (for example) after performing some additional startup. All three releases are consistent in their handling of .xsessionrc, too. The purpose of .xsessionrc in all three releases is to handle common session initialization tasks. This file is indeed sourced, if it exists. The same is true of .xprofile. This file is used no matter which gdm session type you choose. The purpose of .xinitrc is the same as .xsession, except that .xinitrc applies when you run startx (or just xinit) from the command line after a console login, which .xsession is used when you login using a graphical interface like gdm or xdm. So, if you want a file to be sourced, that file is .xsessionrc, not .xsession. If, on the other hand, you want a script to be executed to startup your X session for you, then you should use .xsession and you should select the 'Run Xclient script' session type. Please be more clear about exactly what you are doing. Are you logging in through gdm? Are you starting X from within a console login session? And if you are logging in with gdm, which session type did you select? Also, are you expecting the script to be sourced or executed? -- Jaunty won't source .xsession https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/355721 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 355721] Re: Jaunty won't source .xsession
I don't believe that this bug is valid. My read of the scripts in Xsession.d is that .xsessionrc will be sourced no matter what session you choose, not .xsession or .xinitrc. I don't know why your .xinitrc was being sourced in previous releases, because the scripts look the same to me, at least back through Hardy. [Bug 360083] [NEW] no default notification-* icons provided
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: notify-osd Applications using the new notify-osd will typically use a new set of icons with notification-* names. The Human Gtk theme is the only one that provides these icons. Users who choose a theme with a different icon set get no icon, just an empty space where the icon should be. Perhaps the notify-osd package, or an appropriate icon-theme package, could provide a default set of icons that will be used by Gtk when there is no such icon in the currently selected theme. ** Affects: notify-osd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- no default notification-* icons provided https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/360083 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 360083] Re: no default notification-* icons provided
I'm sure that this will most likely be marked at wishlist priority, and I'm fine with that, since the typical user who has selected a different theme will recognise that it is easy to include the Human theme icons in the selected them. For example: $ mkdir -p ~/.icons/gnome/scalable/status $ cp /usr/share/icons/Human/scalable/status/notification* ~/.icons/gnome/scalable/status/ Still, it would be a nice touch to install these new icons in such a way that Gtk will use theme as the defaults for any icon theme that does not provide its own set. The notify-osd bubbles don't look quite right when the icon is missing, since there is a blank space where the icon should be. -- no default notification-* icons provided https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/360083 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 360083] Re: no default notification-* icons provided
$ lsb_release -dr Description:Ubuntu jaunty (development branch) Release:9.04 $ dpkg -s notify-osd | grep Version Version: 0.9.11-0ubuntu1 As you point out, the icons are there in the package, but when I specify the gnome icon theme without the user-specific customisation that I described in my previous comment, the icons do not appear in the bubbles. [Bug 360083] Re: no default notification-* icons provided
Ah-ha ... the problem is not that there are no default icons provided ... it's that the default icon set is incomplete. For example, the wireless icons used by nm-applet are not provided, nor is the power- disconnected icon. Of the 58 notification icons provided by the Human theme, only 12 are in the default set provided by notify-osd. There are 7 provided by notify- osd that are not in the Human icon theme, but that shouldn't be an issue. ** Summary changed: - no default notification-* icons provided + notify-osd provides incomplete set of default notification-* icons -- notify-osd provides incomplete set of default notification-* icons https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/360083 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 359174] [NEW] lpia alternate install does not install linux-lpia
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: debian-installer Yesterday (April 4, 2009), I installed Jaunty to my dell mini 910 from a USB stick using the latest alternate install ISO found here http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ports/daily/current/. I put the install media on the USB stick using usb-creator, booted into the installer, and followed the prompts. The installation appeared to complete without any errors. Upon reboot, I discovered that the linux-lpia meta package had not been installed, only linux-image-lpia. As a result, linux-restricted-modules- lpia was not installed. Without the restricted modules, the driver for my Broadcom wireless card was not available. I think that linux-lpia should be installed, not just linux-image-lpia. ** Affects: debian-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: jaunty -- lpia alternate install does not install linux-lpia https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/359174 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 359174] Re: lpia alternate install does not install linux-lpia
FWIW, linux-lpia and linux-restricted-modules-lpia are both present on the install media. The work-around to complete installation was to mount the USB stick on /media/cdrom0, enable the CD as a software source, and install linux-lpia. ** Tags added: jaunty -- lpia alternate install does not install linux-lpia https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/359174 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 354226] Re: Jaunty lpia installer fails with hd-media kernel on dell mini 9
I was using the hd-media vmlinuz and initrd.gz due to bug 355376, and the fact that the USB stick guide seems to suggest that the hd-media installer is required to use the alternate install ISO from USB. Since bug 355376 is fixed and Arnaud says that the ISO install works perfectly, I expect that all of the core lpia install issues with the alternate install are now resolved. I will try the alternate install ISO again at some point over the weekend, and I will open a new bug report if I experience any problems. [Bug 354226] Re: Jaunty lpia installer fails with hd-media kernel on dell mini 9
I tried the current alternate install ISO, after installing it with usb- creator version 0.1.10~hardy1. It works now without any special steps required. [Bug 354226] Re: Jaunty lpia installer fails with hd-media kernel on dell mini 9
After rebooting the newly installed system, I discovered that the linux- lpia meta package was not installed. Without this package, the kernel module for my wireless card was not available. Should the linux-lpia module have been installed as part of the standard installation? Or is it reasonable that I was required to install it after reboot? -- Jaunty lpia installer fails with hd-media kernel on dell mini 9 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/354226 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 354226] Re: Jaunty lpia installer fails with hd-media kernel on dell mini 9
I confirm that this problem is fixed in the current hd-media vmlinuz/initrd.gz. I will update my question 66241 with the details of what I did to successful install from USB with the lpia alternate- install media. There is still one problem with the installation. When the installer gets to the point where it would install the kernel, it fails, with the following message: No installable kernel was found in the defined APT sources. You may try to continue without a kernel, and manually install your own kernel later. ... I selected to continue. The installer completed installation of the rest of the system. When it got to the grub installation step, it failed again, but with no indication of the problem. At this point, I pressed Alt-F2 to get to a terminal, used chroot to set /target as the filesystem root, and then ran apt-get install linux-lpia. After this was complete, I returned to the installer and repeated the failed grub installation step. It worked and installation was now complete. On reboot, the system works as expected (so far :-) I'll assume that we will continue to track the No installable kernel issue with this bug. Please let me know if you prefer me to open a new one. -- Jaunty lpia installer fails with hd-media kernel on dell mini 9 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/354226 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 354226] Re: Jaunty lpia installer fails with hd-media kernel on dell mini 9
In this case, I'm attempting the alternate install, so there is no Xorg log or conf to deal with. If it were an X install, I expect that I would be able to get to a console prompt. As it is, I can't get to a usable alternate tty with the lpia hd-media vmlinuz/initrd.gz, so I can't get the lspci output. For what it's worth, I don't have this problem with the i386 hd-media vmlinuz/initrd.gz. With the i386, the installer gets far enough to start looking for the ISO, and it is able to mount both the SSD and USB drives. Is there any useful information I could gather after booting with the i386 media that could help in figuring the lpia meda issue? -- Jaunty lpia installer fails with hd-media kernel on dell mini 9 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/354226 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
