[Bug 827151] Re: Annoying log message DIGEST-MD5 common mech free

2011-08-17 Thread Brezhonneg
Apparently, this message is logged whenever I commit a file to svn
through SSH:

auth.log:

sshd[1085]: Accepted publickey for sylvain from *IP here* port xx ssh2
svnserve: DIGEST-MD5 common mech free

The first one is me connecting to svn through SSH, the second line comes
1 second later and is the annoying one that makes no sense at all...

This problem still occurs with libsasl2-modules
2.1.24~rc1.dfsg1+cvs2011-05-23-4ubuntu2

[Bug 827151] [NEW] Annoying log message DIGEST-MD5 common mech free

2011-08-16 Thread Brezhonneg
Public bug reported:

I recently updated the libsasl2-modules to
2.1.24~rc1.dfsg1+cvs2011-05-23-4ubuntu1 in oneiric.
That triggered the bug also described in Debian here:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=631932

The annoying message is logged in auth.log. In my case, it is associated with
svnserve:
svnserve: DIGEST-MD5 common mech free

I'm not exactly sure what action triggers the message, but I can
investigate more if required.

[Bug 803299] [NEW] Roundcube logs a lot of 'PHP deprecated' messages

2011-06-29 Thread Brezhonneg
Public bug reported:

I Installed roundcube (0.5.3+dfsg-1) on oneiric.

Roundcube logs two errors for each and every page load or ajax call. At
the end of the day, this makes a huge log... I get the error messages in
syslog:

roundcube: PHP Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is
deprecated in /usr/share/php/MDB2.php on line 393
roundcube: PHP Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is
deprecated in /usr/share/php/MDB2.php on line 2647

In my case, the only problem is that it logs a lot of errors, but a very
similar bug was reported on debian with more serious issues:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=571702

Apparently, the problem would be fixed by upgrading the php-mdb2 package
(2.5.0b2-1 in the repository at the moment) to 2.5.0b3 available
upstream.

Roundcube is served by apache2 on my server. Note that I have
'error_reporting = E_ALL  ~E_DEPRECATED' in /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini
but that does not seem to be of any help.

** Affects: php-mdb2 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 617744] Re: [Maverick] lirc_mceusb kernel oops

2010-08-20 Thread Brezhonneg
Today's update (kernel and liblircclient0) did not help.

Here is some more info:

1/ Once the machine is booted, pluging in the USB receiver gives these kernel
messages:
Aug 20 08:59:07 mediabox kernel: [ 239.720022] usb 4-1: new full speed USB

2/ Sending an IR signal to the receiver with the remote gets me a OOPS
from which the system does not recover. See picture attached.

3/ Once rebooted via a hard reset, unplugging the receiver gives the following
kernel error message:

[Bug 617744] Re: [Maverick] lirc_mceusb kernel oops

2010-08-19 Thread Brezhonneg
I get a kernel oops with lirc_mceusb as well as soon as the receiver
receives the first IR signal. The oops is not logged anywhere and the
system becomes completely unresponsive after the OOPS. I cannot SSH into
the system either, forcing me to hard reset the machine.

uname -a
Linux mediabox 2.6.35-15-server #21-Ubuntu SMP Wed Aug 11 18:23:50 UTC 2010
x86_64 GNU/Linux

Note that I have no lirc package installed on this system, so this is
indeed entirely a kernel problem.

'modprobe lirc_mceusb' seems to be working just fine for me:

[Bug 609113] Re: Thinkpad T400: kslowd processes take too much CPU, making mouse control impossible

2010-08-13 Thread Brezhonneg
This morning, I noticed that the problem vanished. kslowdXXX did not
show up in 'top'. ps aux | grep slow does not show any kslowd process
either.

I am not sure what changed triggered this. Off the top of my head, the
most significant changes on my system that might be related were the
installation of the nvidia-current package. The acpid package got
installed too. I have no idea what kslowd process normally do or where
they come from, so if anybody needs any more info regarding my system
please let me know.

[Bug 609113] Re: Thinkpad T400: kslowd processes take too much CPU, making mouse control impossible

2010-08-10 Thread Brezhonneg
I installed maverick (server version) and I see a very high CPU usage
for kslowdXX processes as well. In a nutshell:

unanme -a
Linux mediabox 2.6.35-14-server #20-Ubuntu SMP Fri Aug 6 23:55:42 UTC 2010
x86_64 GNU/Linux

ps aux | grep slow
root 1090 1.2 0.0 0 0 ?S Aug09 12:43 [kslowd000]
root 6481 1.2 0.0 0 0 ?S Aug09 10:34 [kslowd002]

uptime
 08:52:55 up 17:23, 1 user, load average: 0.16, 0.19, 0.21

I noticed this with top, which frequently shows kslowd000 at the top of
the list with 8% of CPU usage for a few seconds.

My gaphic card is an nvidia 8200 IGP.

Since the hardware is not exactly the same, should I open a new bug
report even though the symptoms are pretty much the same?

[Bug 433926] [NEW] [karmic] xkbcomp error message

2009-09-21 Thread Brezhonneg
Public bug reported:

I can confirm that the bug reported upstream is also present in Karmic alpha 6:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21761

This bug was also reported in gentoo
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=269931

and in debian
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=291853

Apparently a fix was released upstream, it would be nice to have it in
Karmic as well.

Many thanks!

This seems to happen when a client connects through hostapd, which I installed
from here:
https://edge.launchpad.net/~hermansson-per/+archive/ppa

For more details about my exotic AP installation, please see that post:
http://ubuntu-utah.ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=6840592postcount=17

Maybe the problem is with hostapd, but since it is the kernel that
reports the bug, I decided to reopen that old report.

Let me know if any more information is required.

[Bug 71468] Re: Networking doesn't work anymore since installing ipmasq

2009-03-06 Thread Brezhonneg
Did anybody find any explanation or solution to this 2+ year old
problem?

I do have this problem on Jaunty alpha 5 (completely updated as of
today). As said above, moving ipmasq to S99 in rcx.d did not help.
Adding a 'service ipmasq restart' in rc.local did the trick once, but
only once...

Maybe that is related (or maybe not): I also see an unusual line at boot
that says that sshd is restarted. That usually comes so late in the boot
process that this message appears on the CLI login prompt. So, to make
this clear, I have the normal message that says that sshd is started,
and then the restart message later on. The one time where adding ipmasq
in rc.local did the trick, that sshd restart message appeared much
earlier. I do not really know what is the cause / consequence relation
here, as I cannot figure out what is causing this sshd restart... Maybe
what restarts sshd is also what makes the late ipmasq restart
mandatory...

Anyways, I am using a Jaunty server alpha 5 installation. ipmasq,
dnsmasq (used as DHCP server as well), hostapd are all started at boot.
Of course network manager is not even installed on this box...

[Bug 220443] Re: Window decoration disappears with firefox

2008-11-16 Thread Brezhonneg
I confirm:

- the bug
- the F11 trick
- the efficiency of the workaround suggested above by Nosrevelk (so far so good)

I am using Ubuntu 8.10 with all the latest updates. The last firefox
extension that I installed was SyncPlaces, though the bug only appeared
a couple of days after the installation, so the relation is not clearly
established.

Also note that bug #251617 seems to be a duplicate of this one.

[Bug 290547] [NEW] Grisbi dependency is insane

Hi,

I am using intrepid (64bits). 'apt-get install grisbi' returns a huge
list of 60 packets to install. Most of them are texlive-lang-* packages
which really do not seem necessary. I did not track the full chain of

Same as Gianni. I cannot remember exactly but I very possibly had adept

[Bug 113144] Re: System report a music CD in empty CD drive.

2008-01-09 Thread Brezhonneg
It would have been a pleasure to do so. Unfortunately, the buggy drive
was on an HP laptop that died last Saturday (faulty video chip). The
waranty expired 2 months ago (the usual story), so it is very unlikely
that I will ever get it fixed. Maybe at some point I will try and get
the drive out to reuse it somewhere else, but this is not high on my
priority list.

I am sorry but I cannot really help on that one anymore.

[Bug 113144] Re: System report a music CD in empty CD drive.

2007-12-11 Thread Brezhonneg
Even though this bug report seems to get no attention, I am attaching
yet another dmesg log. It confirms what I mentioned last time about the
drive confused message:

[ 1997.917839] hda: cdrom_pc_intr: The drive appears confused (ireason = 0x01).
Trying to recover by ending request.
[ 4052.407147] hda: cdrom_pc_intr: The drive appears confused (ireason = 0x01).
Trying to recover by ending request.
[21695.426855] hda: status error: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete
DataRequest }

Also, I noticed in this one (maybe in the previous one too) that the
message happens to change at some point:

[21699.361481] hda: status error: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete
DataRequest }
[21699.361485] ide: failed opcode was: unknown
[21699.361488] hda: drive not ready for command
[21700.363396] hda: status error: status=0x59 { DriveReady SeekComplete
DataRequest Error }
[21700.363405] hda: status error: error=0x40 { LastFailedSense=0x04 }

[Bug 113144] Re: System report a music CD in empty CD drive.

2007-12-06 Thread Brezhonneg
I thought of logging a dmesg after this happened again, so I'm attaching
it.

You will see that the flooding starts after a message that says:
hda: cdrom_pc_intr: The drive appears confused (ireason = 0x01). Trying to
recover by ending request.

I am not 100% sure, but I seem to remember that I have seen that message (or a
very similar one) already in the past and it was not followed by the endless
error messaging.
At the other end of the stick, the flooding ceased because I ran a script I
always keep at hand:

#! /bin/sh
sudo hdparm -w /dev/hda
sudo hdparm -d 1 /dev/hda

hence the final entries of the dmesg.

I was not at my desk when this happened, that's why it took so long
before I ran the script. When i came back, I had a nice popup on the
screen saying an audio CD was in the drive (surprise!).

The issue you reported is not this bug. This bug report is tightly
defined by the status timeout: status=0xd0 error and an unresponsive

 The following may help:
 See Bug #129708
 See Bug #113144
 See https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/10747

See similar error report for HP laptop with Redhat at (although no help is
 provided): http://www.stearns.org/doc/hp-dv9225us-fedora-6.html

If the above doesn't help then consider filing a new bug report (if this
is a feisty-gutsy regression then clearly mark this, include
comprehensive PC hardware details dmesg report).

Thank you very much for your kind response, I will do my best to make my
report fit to where it belongs.

[Bug 113144] Re: System report a music CD in empty CD drive.

2007-11-30 Thread Brezhonneg
This is a very good description of the problem I have too on my HP
dv9000 laptop.

uname -a:
Linux hp-pc 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Sun Oct 14 21:45:15 GMT 2007 x86_64
GNU/Linux
I boot this kernel with the noapic irqpoll options.

I can get you a full dmesg copy if you really need it, but as far as I can say,
the only relevant part in the log looks like:
[19145.388805] hda: drive not ready for command
[19145.388837] hda: status error: status=0x59 { DriveReady SeekComplete
DataRequest Error }
[19145.388842] hda: status error: error=0x40 { LastFailedSense=0x04 }
[19145.388845] ide: failed opcode was: unknown
and is repeated over and over again.

The dmesg flooding usually starts after a message pops up on my screen
saying a new medium was detected (even though I am not using the DVD
drive in any manner). This seems completely unpredictable. hdparm -w
successfully stops the error message list. Unmounting (right click /
unmount from the desktop) the ghost medium does nothing. The system is
still normally responsive when the bug occurs.

Relevant output of smartctl -a /dev/hda

Before you suggest, I could not find any firmware update for this drive.
If there is one, please let me know!

Also let me know if you need any more information.

[Bug 75295] Re: Feisty freeze, kernel (?) tries to access DVD drive

2007-11-27 Thread Brezhonneg
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I believe I am seeing the same bug, with a
different drive though.
The bug description in my case is quite simple: my dmesg shows an endless list
of

[19145.388805] hda: drive not ready for command
[19145.388837] hda: status error: status=0x59 { DriveReady SeekComplete
DataRequest Error }
[19145.388842] hda: status error: error=0x40 { LastFailedSense=0x04 }
[19145.388845] ide: failed opcode was: unknown

The list usually starts after a message pops up on my screen saying a
new medium was detected (though I was not using the DVD drive in any
manner). This seems completely unpredictable. hdparm -w successfully
stops the error message list. Unmounting the ghost medium does nothing.
The system is still normally responsive when the bug occurs.

I'm using Kubuntu gutsy x86_64.
uname -r

I'll be glad to provide any requested information.
