[Bug 307645] Re: Linux Mint freezes after a while

2010-05-19 Thread Brian Vuyk
I have had this problem on my desktop since ~Ubuntu 8.10 or so, and it's
continued to the latest Ubuntu and Mint releases, although it is
significantly worse in Mint 9 now. I've tried setting 'acpi=off' in my
boot settings, but that stops my mouse from working, so I reverted that
without being able to see if it helped with crashes.

[Bug 90521] Re: LGeneral needs data files

2007-12-04 Thread Brian Vuyk
Just a note - lgeneral is not the issue. Rather, lgc-pg (the converter
program) is not case-insensitive. That is, when looking for the original
Panzer General data files to convert, it requires them to be named in
uppercase.

This should just be a small change to lgc-pg to make it case-
insensitive.

Just to confirm that other USB devices (Printer, flash memory) work
correctly on this system.

[Bug 139842] USB errors after system update

2007-09-15 Thread Brian Vuyk
Public bug reported:

Hello.

I've been trying to use an external hard drive with my Ubuntu 7.04
system. The drive works perfectly on a freshly installed system;
however, after updating the system from the Ubuntu repositories, it
generates errors when I try to access it. You can view these errors in
the last dozen lines in the attached dmesg.log. A short clip from it:

[ 6028.84] usb 3-2: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 7
[ 6032.028000] usb 3-2: device descriptor read/64, error -110
[ 6047.32] usb 3-2: device descriptor read/64, error -110
[ 6047.612000] usb 3-2: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 8

Output of uname -a: Linux brian-desktop 2.6.20-16-generic #2 SMP Fri Aug
31 00:55:27 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux

Attached is output from dmesg, lspci -vv, and lsusb. If there is any
other output you need, please advise me. This device is critical for my
work, since I use it to store backups of my business files.

I cannot remember where, but I read somewhere that this may be caused by
the latest Kernel update. I do not have a source for this. I doubt that
is the case, though, as there would be many similar bugs posted.

Cheers.
