[Bug 1906741] Re: Firefox sometimes causes garbled audio

2020-12-29 Thread Bruce Heerssen
This happens to me also. Weirdly, only Twitter videos seem affected.
It's possible it happens elsewhere, but I haven't seen it yet.

Ubuntu 20.10
Firefox 84

[Bug 554375] Re: clicking on rhythmbox icon does nothing

2010-08-31 Thread Bruce Heerssen
I've noticed another strange behavior that may be related to this bug.
When selecting the rhythmbox indicator icon, the last used icon in the
panel is highlighted. See video for an example.

I finally managed to get a video of the behavior. The video shows the
contact window, but it also happens with the message window. Let me know
if you need more.

[Bug 540272] Re: Window does not always raise to the forefront when selecting a conversation from the tray icon

2010-03-18 Thread Bruce Heerssen
This behavior happens nearly every time for me. If someone sends an IM,
the notification area flashes and I click on it, then select the
conversation. At that point the new conversation window opens, but it
opens underneath all other open windows. The application bar icon
appears and is highlighted. Clicking that will raise the window to the
foreground as it should.

I'll try to take a video and post it to my website.

[Bug 540272] [NEW] Window does not always raise to the forefront when selecting a conversation from the tray icon

2010-03-17 Thread Bruce Heerssen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

Release: Ubuntu 9.10 x86_64
Package: Empathy 2.28.1.1-0ubuntu1
Expected Result: Conversation window should raise to the foreground when
selected from the system tray icon menu.
Actual Result: Conversation window opens, but often stays buried under all
other open windows.

If you need more information, please reply and I'll try to find it for
you.

[Bug 449260] Re: empathy needs a persistent new message indicator

2010-01-09 Thread Bruce Heerssen
Another vote for this bug. It's annoying and embarrassing to have missed
an IM while AFK. People assume you are ignoring them when in fact, you
just didn't know. I've compensated by explicitly checking when I get
back to the computer, but really, that's not a good solution. Empathy
should anticipate my needs as much as it is able, not the other way
around.

The indicator applet really should show some sign that a message was
received while you were away. It could blink, change shape, or change
color. All three, for all I care. For that matter, it could even be a
configuration option allowing the user to select desired behavior.

[Bug 494312] [NEW] indicator applet has insufficient notication mechanisms

2009-12-08 Thread Bruce Heerssen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: indicator-applet

Ubuntu Karmic Koala 9.1 - all updates applied.

The applet does not do enough to provide new message indicators. If the
user is not at the computer when a message is received, there is nothing
to indicate that unless they click on the icon. I suggest that the icon
swap for a more obvious indicator, perhaps a green flashing disk like
the old Empathy icon had.
