[Bug 1579917] Re: Skylake processor with NVMe drive never reaches low power package states on X1 Carbon gen 4

2016-05-10 Thread Buzzing Robot
Seeing much the same with 16.04 on an Intel NUC with a Skylake i5 6260U,
and a Samsung 950 NVME, with the default kernel or 4.6-rc7. (I've been
tracking the 4.6 RC's and this behavior has been apparent in each.)

Running powertop with no tuning option shows all usage confined to C2
(pc2).

Running powertop with the autotune option ("powertop --auto-tune")
results in usage spread out among pc2, pc3, and, occasionally, pc7. PC8
and lower are never reached.

[Bug 1578171] [NEW] Powertop Fails as Systemd Service in 16.04

2016-05-04 Thread Buzzing Robot
Public bug reported:

Powertop fails when used via Systemd service in 16.04.

This unit located in /etc/systemd/system:

[Unit]
Description=PowerTOP autotuner

[Service]
Type=oneshot
ExecStart=/usr/sbin/powertop --auto-tune

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target

can be enabled successfully (systemctl enable powertop.service).

On a restart, systemctl status powertop.status shows it is inactive.

The unit works correctly in pre-release Fedora 24.

[Bug 1503352] Re: steadyflow and kget listed as recommends for liferea: steadyflow not available for wily

2015-10-06 Thread Buzzing Robot
Identical behavior in today's Vivid and Gnome dailes. It wanted to
bring in 177 additional packages, almost entirely KDE and QT.

Wouldn't that all be invisible to someone using Software Center? I.e.,
they'd install Liferea and end up with most of KDE, as well.

[Bug 1499322] [NEW] Wily: No Dash Icon After Package Install Until New Session

2015-09-24 Thread Buzzing Robot
Public bug reported:

15.10 Wily, updated :

After installing a package (standard repo packages) via apt/apt-
get/Synaptic, that item is not found by a Dash search and its icon does
not appear in a manual display of applications in Dash.

Appropriate .desktop files are placed in /usr/share/applications.

The items can be found in a new session, i.e., after logging out and
logging in.

I've seen this repeatedly on multiple clean installs from the dailies.

Apt is at: 1.0.9.10ubuntu7

Dash is: 0.5.7-4ubuntu2

[Bug 1434052] Re: kwallet wants to migrate empty kwallet4

2015-04-24 Thread Buzzing Robot
Since I filed what seems to an identical bug
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kwalletmanager/+bug/1446616)
I installed 3 kwallet packages from proposed (libkf5wallet-bin,
libkf5wallet5, libkwalletbackend5-5)on a new install from the 15.04
release image.

I am still being prompted to migrate a wallet. Launching Muon Update
Manager triggers the migration popup. I close the popup. Subsequently
in the same session, launching Muon Update Manager does not trigger the
migration popup. After a logout or a reboot, it's back.

I was able to configure an account in KMail, via the wizard, without
triggering the migration popup. Subsequently, launching KMail does
trigger a request to enter a password to open the 'kdewallet' wallet.
This repeats each time KMail launches.

[Bug 1446616] [NEW] 15.04: KWallet Migration Dialogue Wants NonExistent Password

2015-04-21 Thread Buzzing Robot
Public bug reported:

Immediately after rebooting into a clean install of the Kubuntu 15.04 22
April daily, I launched Muon Update Manager. A Kwallet dialogue popped
up asking me if I wanted to migrate the existing Wallet to the 'new'

created a password.

I've created no Wallets, although kwalletmanager shows "kdewallet"

Public bug reported:

Using 15.04 Kubuntu from the 17 April daily, updated and current.

Kwallet was initially silent after the install, with no prompts for
passwords. However, in a subsequent new session, a Kwallet popup did
request a password when I launched KMail. I cancelled the request.
KMail requested an IMAP password.

This behavior persisted through several new sessions and reboots.

I launched KWalletManager. It reported the Wallet was closed. I tried
to open the Wallet. KwalletManager crashed and would not close vai the
'Close' box on the window decoration. In addition, the window itself
was overly small and could not be resized. Closing it via a right-click
on the Task Manager brought up the "failing to respond" display.

That behavior has persisted:Moreover, KSysGuard shows kwalletd as a
zombie process *after* reboots. KMail continues to request an IMAP
password, although both IMAP and SMTP passwords are entered in the
settings dialogue.
