another workaround (really ugly) is to deactivate images in firefox...
but as you can imagine, it's not a solution.

What happens:

There's no other message before nor after those lines. After that, X recovers,
and we're on the login screen.

This bug can be reproduced on our workstations.

Maybe it's a i686 bug - we cannot check that, we only have i686
computers here.

Any input would be great.

Thank you!

[Bug 490310] [NEW] tangogps version - depcrecated in karmik and jaunty

2009-11-30 Thread Cédric Jeanneret
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tangogps

Hello,

I just stumbled on tangogps package in karmik (and jaunty), and it seems
its version is deprecated; after having a look on official website, I
saw that they rewrote all its interface so that it's really nice to use
on small devices (such as tablet pc and so on).

Do you think an update will be possible, at least on karmik?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

C.

[Bug 488740] [NEW] gpsdrive-scripts : version for gpsfetchmap

2009-11-26 Thread Cédric Jeanneret
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gpsdrive-scripts

Hello,

I'm currently using gpsfetchmap script (provided by gpsdrive-scripts
package), and saw that it's really out of date. A patch, done in january
2008, adds support for OSM maps, and it seems that ubuntu jaunty's
version doesn't use this version, but an older one.

System informations :

Description:Ubuntu 9.04
Release:9.04

Package version:
gpsdrive-scripts 2.10~pre4-6.dfsg-1ubuntu1

Should use pre7 version.

For information, copying script directly from soruces doesn't break
anything, so maybe you can just change script in package without doing
anything else (but consider upgrading all versions... )

C.

[Bug 397308] [NEW] jaunty 32b cannot see more than 3023M RAM

2009-07-08 Thread Cédric Jeanneret
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-generic

Hi,

It seems that Jaunty cannot see all the RAM in my laptop (installed : 4G, seen
: 3023M).
Using another Linux, also 32B, I had to activate some options in the kernel:
 High Memory Support (64G)
in Processor Type and features

as I use a lot of KVM, VMWare and VirtualBox, I really need my system to
see all my installed ram. And I can't be in 64B, as my office install
all our computers in 32b

One smart thing : when searching package name while filling this bug, I
saw a package named "linux-image-generic-pae" but apt-cache search
linux-image-generic-pae doesn't match anything... that's a pitty...

maybe there are some problems with versions of those programmes in

Same problem on a recently reinstalled Jaunty.

Informations :
Architecture : i386
Release : 9.04

Packages version:

dpkg -l | grep seahorse
ii libcryptui02.26.1-0ubuntu1
ii seahorse 2.26.1-0ubuntu1
ii seahorse-plugins 2.26.1-0ubuntu1

System is up to date.

One thing though : we kept user's home when we reinstalled his computer. BUT we
removed all his preferences :
for dir in .gconf .gconfd .gnome .gnome2 .gnome2_private .local .config
do
  rm -r $HOME/$dir
done

When we do a "ssh-add", it works again.
I tried to do Christian Albrecht fix, but it didn't work on this computer.

[Bug 279193] Re: Unable to upload files from GVFS sources

2009-05-18 Thread Cédric Jeanneret
Hello,

I just tested with epiphany :
epiphany-browser 2.26.1-0ubuntu1
Intuitive web browser - dummy package
epiphany-browser-data 2.26.1-0ubuntu1
Data files for the GNOME web browser
epiphany-extensions2.26.0-0ubuntu2
Extensions for Epiphany web browser
epiphany-gecko 2.26.1-0ubuntu1
Intuitive GNOME web browser - Gecko version

and it has the same behavior : cannot access mounted network share (in my case,
a samba share, with ldap authentication if it can change something).
Passing through ~/.gvfs works, like on firefox.

Using Konqueror is worth, as it doesn't load ~/.gtk-bookmarks [well,
worth, not really, it's a KDE/QT app, so it just don't know about this
file], and it doesn't show up gvfs share (also "logic", as gvfs is pure
Gnome stuff)

Hope this will help.

Regards,

C. Jeanneret

[Bug 373111] Re: Keyboard 'Custom Shortcut' does not retain environment

2009-05-12 Thread Cédric Jeanneret
Hello,

I discovered this one a bit later after I opened the bug.
Fact is, when we use another launcher than the default one (which has no tab
completion...) like gmrun, environment isn't kept as well... so it's not only
for "custom shortcuts", and maybe it's the same problem source
(gnome-setting-manager).

Thanks for your answers. Should I post it on bugs.gnome.org ?

[Bug 373111] Re: keyboard shortcup and shell

2009-05-12 Thread Cédric Jeanneret
I see something interesting :
"env" command outputs some nice thing, especially :

[gnome-terminal launched through menu]
GNOME_KEYRING_SOCKET=/tmp/keyring-mNji2A/socket
SSH_AUTH_SOCK=/tmp/keyring-mNji2A/socket.ssh

[gnome-terminal launched through gmrun]
GNOME_KEYRING_SOCKET=/tmp/keyring-mNji2A/socket
SSH_AUTH_SOCK=/tmp/ssh-gvpqNC5125/agent.5125

shouldn't SSH_AUTH_SOCK be the same ?!
When launching a second terminal through the menu, it shows me that it's using
the same agent [that's logical...]

so, question is : why is it using a second, unknown agent when it's
launched through another mean ??

[Bug 375339] [NEW] thunderbird gvfs

2009-05-12 Thread Cédric Jeanneret
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

Hi,

It seems that thunderbird doesn't use GVFS. Indeed, when i'd like to
attach a file from a samba share, mounted locally through nautilus/gvfs,
dialog doesn't show me network mounts...

Same behavior when I'd like to save an attachment to my samba share.

My workaround is to create a link in my .gtk-bookmarks :
"file:///home/user/.gvfs Fileserver alternative"

[Bug 263631] Re: [xmodmap] added keys not taken

2009-05-11 Thread Cédric Jeanneret
In fact ubuntu doesn't like when we want to override ITS keymap... don't
know if it's a normal behaviour, in fact, but as nobody said anything in
here, I guess it is...

[Bug 373111] Re: keyboard shortcup and shell

2009-05-11 Thread Cédric Jeanneret
I tried another thing :
as, for me, gnome integrated launcher is a mess [no tab completion], I
tried to use "gmrun", which is really faster, nicer and so on.
But I have exactly the same behavior using gmrun or shortcuts ! NO env, NO
ssh-agent [for a sysadmin work, it's well, just imagine]...

that's really, really, REALLY annoying.

[Bug 247485] Re: [jaunty] Openoffice doesn't really use GVFS

2009-05-11 Thread Cédric Jeanneret
Hello,

indeed, it just works, now. Sometimes OOo ask for idents, when we don't
touch fileserver through it for some time, but it's really not a
problem.

My Boss have a big smile now ;)

Thanks for this update. I think we can close this bug... but I'll open
two other for Firefox and Thunderbird : they have quiet the same
problem.

Regards,

C.

[Bug 373561] [NEW] [Jaunty] awesome version is REALLY deprecated

2009-05-07 Thread Cédric Jeanneret
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: awesome

Hello,

Is it possible to have an up-to-date version for awesome ? as 2.3 is... well...
it's unusable, and deprecated.
Now they have 3.2, and this one is really stable...
As source-compilation isn't really how ubuntu intends to install package, I
think it can be a good idea to put awesome-3.2 in APT...

Regards,

C.

[Bug 373111] [NEW] keyboard shortcup and shell

2009-05-07 Thread Cédric Jeanneret
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I discover a nice thing in Jaunty :

when we launch a shell from a keyboard shortcut (system -> preferences ->
keyboard shortcut -> add), I don't have my environment, for example :
- no ssh agent
- I'm not in my home, but in /

When I launch the same terminal from "run application" (std shortcut
"alt+F2"), it's working nice.

When I launch the same terminal from some icon in my pannel, it's
working fine too.

I tried with those terminals :
- gnome-terminal
- xterm
- urxvtc
- urxvt

Same behaviour for all of them.

System informations :
Description:Ubuntu 9.04
Release:9.04

ii gnome-terminal 2.26.0-0ubuntu2
ii rxvt-unicode 9.06-1
ii xterm 241-1ubuntu1

Any idea ?

Thanks.

C.

[Bug 247485] Re: [jaunty] Openoffice doesn't really use GVFS

2009-04-08 Thread Cédric Jeanneret
Ok, thanks.
For now we're using Intrepid, and this problem is still here... we'll try with
jaunty when it's released [in some weeks if I'm not wrong].

I'll post update here when it's tested.

Regards,

C.

yep, indeed. Unfortunately, this mount won't appear in nautilus... so we
have to use a shell to mount it (not that I care, but the other users
will)

in fact, after some discussion with OOo developpers, it seems they're
changing their lock system. it will be far better. still buggy for now,
it should come in 3.x release.

[Bug 261148] Re: oowriter doesn't behave like ooffice -writer

2008-09-30 Thread Cédric Jeanneret
Hello,

in fact you can't reproduce these errors if you don't have a samba share. here
at work, we use a fileserver with smb sharing, and thus we have these problems.
even on hardy, latest versions...
Sure if you use directly your filesystem, it works really fine.

Regards,

C.
