Re: [Bug 863366] Re: lmms does not show in menus, launcher or dash; must launch from terminal or with run dialog
no I was saying, last I checked, unless changed when the ubuntu package is taken straight from debian it force a dependency on a specific version of wine though the dependency shouldn't be there. It would try and uninstall lmms vst support every-time I updated wine, it had something to do with debian that was fixed in ubuntu but not changed in the packaging. back when I had this issue I think it also affected the ppa, Not sure any more as I know I manual added the desktop ini file edited to properly point to the icon. With that said I have uninstalled to compile from source on master branch, (Which I managed to get up to 75%-80% before hanging.) and reinstalled it without any issue, not sure if the desktop ini file got removed when purging though. [Bug 559464] Re: Audio regression
** Description changed: Ubuntu 10.04 beta 2 is the first one in this test cycle I could boot on my machine. However I have noticed that the volume manager detects my sound cards but I cannot select them for output or input. For the output - the only selection available is dummy audio device. I have a - soundblaster audigy that works in 9.10 other than input. In 10.04 it - show it in hardware profile but when I move it to the correct profile I - still cannot select it in output tab. + the only selection available is dummy audio device. I have a sound- + blaster audiogy that works in 9.10 other than input. In 10.04 it show it + in hardware profile but when I move it to the correct profile I still + cannot select it in output tab. Now on a computer with standard hardware + and standard audio duplexer on-board. It is displaying the hardware + correctly but when I Go to the out put tab it only can select dummy + audio device and there is no sound out put. try going to terminal and entering cd .. three times.(press enter between each) Then type cd etc Then cd modprobe.d then sudo gedit blacklist.conf ad the line "blacklist rt2800usb" at the bottom without quotes save and restart! assuming this is the Rosewill RNX easy N1 it will work. It may work on others but this is the one I used it on. :) Some people will tell you to blacklist two things but that will just keep you from connecting to protected networks! Public bug reported: I am running karmic latest update on an amd athlon 1800 xp, Creative audigy 2 sound blaster, 2gb dual channel ddr1 ram, and an ati radeon r300 [9500pro]. [Bug 449721] Re: Karmic pusle audio sound gargles
I did this and it fixed some of my sound. It fixed xmoto and got super tux 2 and tux kart to have sound. In super tux the sound kicks in and out every once in a while. Warzone 2100 still gargles horibly and so does open arena. vlc I keep having to change the same setting ever time I restart the computer and In open shot it seems to have some audio studder though this may because it was an unrendered video. It may be that not there are more libraries that need to be switched with the pulse ones. Also I remembered synaptic automaticaly removes conflicting packages so my previous question was a dumb one. [Bug 449721] Re: Karmic pusle audio sound gargles
I Haven't tried it yet but will it already be configured on install? Also I assumed it warzone 2100 used alsa because it showed up as warzone alsa plugin on the volume control. However your explanation makes since. I will try this when I get home and see if it fixes these audio isues as well as the rest of my audio problems such as with open arena. p.s. should I remove the libsd11.2debian-alsa package? -- Karmic pusle audio sound gargles https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/449721 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 449721] Re: Karmic pusle audio sound gargles
David Henningsson, how do you change that setting. However i think the system keeps installing apps with the wrong alsa device settings and would like to know how to fix this. The reason I ask how to change the fragment size is because most the apps I am having isues with only have volume control and nothing else in the gui. This includes games like xmoto and warzone 2100. Plus I don't know how to find config files or what lines to look for. ** Changed in: ubuntu Assignee: Ubuntu Audio Development Team (ubuntu-audio-dev) => Ubuntu Audio Team (ubuntu-audio) -- Karmic pusle audio sound gargles https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/449721 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 449721] Re: Karmic pusle audio sound gargles
I just found out how to fix the sound in vlc, I changed the preferences to show all. I then went to audio/output modules/alsa and changed the setting to SB Audigy2 platinum [SB024p] : APC capure/standard pcm playback (hw:2,0). I have a feeling most my games and apps are also mis- configuring on install but they do not have a gui way to change this. Does any one know how I configure the audio for everything else. [Bug 449721] [NEW] Karmic pusle audio sound gargles
Public bug reported: In karmic most my applications have gargled sound or no sound. Though this was not an issue in jaunty, jaunty did not support my sound blaster cards 5.1 surround. A search on the forums has shown this issue is not hardware specific. Rymbox, virtual-box and the built in sounds work fine. Everything else has either no sound or garbled sound. Looking in the apps tab in sound preference reveals that the application is flickering in and out. By observation it appears that this is nearly always the case with any thing using the alsa plug-in for pulse audio. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Karmic pusle audio sound gargles https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/449721 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 442381] Re: Karmic beta installer fails on loading partioner
I am using two hard drives, 2gb ddr 1 dual channel memory, amd athlon xp 1800+, creative sound blaster Audigy 2 sound card, I can't remember the video card or mother board. The installer just disappeared right were it would normally begin to wipe the hard disk. The screen I was referring to was the on that listed all the options you had selected so you could double check that it is correct. Once I clicked next for it to install it just went away. So no data was lost. Would this have logged the failure any ware because I can easily reproduce it. [Bug 442411] [NEW] karmic regresses support for Rosewill RNX-EasyN1 wireless usb adapter
Public bug reported: I am beta testing Karmic. I was previously happy switch from intrepid to jaunty because it got my Rosewill RNX-EasyN1 wireless usb card up and working. I was expecting this to still be the case in Karmic just to find that it no longer picks up wireless networks. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- karmic regresses support for Rosewill RNX-EasyN1 wireless usb adapter https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/442411 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 442381] [NEW] Karmic beta installer fails on loading partioner
Public bug reported: I decided to try and install the karmic beta to test it from a hard disk. Everything was going fine till it got to the screen where it gives me the install information. When I clicked forward the installer crashes and does nothing. I tried both a blank single drive and wiping my intrepid hard disk on my jaunty/ intrepid dual boot and both failed. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Karmic beta installer fails on loading partioner https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/442381 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 424909] [NEW] Package request. Can aptana studio and chromium be added to the repository.
Public bug reported: Chromium is a good web browser from Google and works great. it is also use full when trying to make sure you website woks in multiple browsers. Aptana studio is a great web developing program and the full standalone IDE should be in repositories. I use it but had to first install older web runner and write script to open Aptana studio using the older web runner. Also I had to download it from their site. These are not in my Jaunty. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Package request.
