[Bug 572118] Re: No option to hide user from facebrowser

2010-04-30 Thread CACLF
If one used to be able to remove a user from the face browser in gdm
wouldn't this be a regression rather than a new feature?

[Bug 572118] [NEW] No option to remove user from facebrowser

2010-04-30 Thread CACLF
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

The "Users Settings" application or the Login Screen used to (perhaps in
Jaunty) have an option to set whether or not a user would appear in the face
browser. There is no longer any obvious way to do this.
One may have a computer with multiple users, but only one of whom really needs
to login via gdm (the others being purely ssh users), and as they do not need
to be on the face browser list, having them there makes login for the other
users (or single user in my case) more difficult.
This is linked to some extent with #445123 as that is also a problem with the
lack of configuration for gdm and its facebrowser.

Re: [Bug 335906] Re: package clit suggested but uninstallable

2009-05-22 Thread CACLF
Filed Debian Bug #529852 upstream. Dependency switched to convlit in
Debian, so this should fix itself for the next release, but should
probably be fixed here as well.

[Bug 335906] Re: package clit suggested but uninstallable

2009-05-21 Thread CACLF
I would be inclined to change it to a recommends rather than suggests.
The description of the package states that it includes two utilities one
of which is " - lit2epub: converts a LIT file to EPub (using
clit)." clit is in Ubuntu and Debian, but it seems to have changed to
convlit, thus the dependency just needs to be changed.

[Bug 178558] Re: Firefox 3.0 makes everything annoyingly huge

It should probably be noted that Hardy has just changed the firefox
package to be the beta3, so the primary browser now has the bug.

[Bug 178831] dist-upgrade changes hostname in /etc/hosts breaking sudo

2007-12-26 Thread CACLF
Public bug reported:

I did a dist-upgrade to hardy and part way through sudo would give me a message
along the lines of "sudo: unable to resolve host NULL", 'NULL' happens to be my
hostname. Following the information here,
http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-613521.html I opened up my
/etc/hosts and saw that I had the host name I had originally entered when I
installed Gutsy, and then changed a few weeks later, instead of NULL,
So instead of "127.0.1.1 NULL" there was "127.0.1.1 " where
was the name I had set originally.

I was able to go into recovery mode and change this as root, but it was
very problematic to say the least since I could not use sudo.

[Bug 173715] tcsh gives two prompts on "setenv |printenv"

2007-12-03 Thread CACLF
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tcsh

If one types in the command "setenv A B | printenv" the environment is printed
out, A is not set to B as expected, but one gets "NULL:~> NULL:~> " as the line
following the printed out environment. NULL in this case is the hostname.
Admittedly one is unlikely to wish to give such a command, but csh itself does
not have this problem and only prints a single prompt '%'.

[Bug 162056] Screen resolution does not change after exit

2007-11-11 Thread CACLF
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: alien-arena

I am using a Dell D830 with 7.10, Alien-Arena version 6.05-41 in Synaptic.
I have a 1920*1200 screen, and after I exit Alien Arena, I have to scroll
around on the screen in order to see everything, the difference is only about
an inch on any given side. Changing the screen resolution in the screen
resolution applet, does not seem to change anything. If I go to screens and
graphics in the administration menu, then if I change it to 2560 by whatever it
is and kill X, then switch back to 1920, then it will work fine, but this does
not seem like it should be happening. Presumably Alien-Arena cannot change my
xorg.conf, but this is more than a little strange and worrisome.

It is possible that this belongs in another section.
