[Bug 990740] Re: upgrading from lucid to precise fails
Hitting the same problem on my desktop machine. I disabled all my non- Ubuntu repos (but did not uninstall their packages). The workaround from #3 seemed to do the trick in that the install of newer packages is progressing. [Bug 229879] Re: USB DVB card floods the console with recv bulk message failed -ETIMEOUT
Same issue here on 10.04. After booting the kernel log is spammed with: [ 544.968189] dvb-usb: bulk message failed: -110 (4/0) [ 544.968198] cxusb: i2c read failed ... and the system load sits on 1.00 consistently (Single core single CPU system) despite nothing showing in top and the cpu being listed as 99.3% idle. vmstat doesn't show any oddly high interrupt rates and there system is not swapping. It did NOT occur on 9.04, so it seems to be it might be some sort of regression. I have yet to reboot with the 9.04 kernel to see if that makes any difference, though. I also have two cards, a DViCO Fusion HDTV Dual Digital 4 and a LeadTek DTV2000H. Adding the following line to a file in /etc/modprobe.d did not affect the issue: options dvb-core dvb_powerdown_on_sleep=0 lsusb: Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 004 Device 002: ID 1241:f728 Belkin Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0fe9:db78 DVICO FusionHDTV DVB-T Dual Digital 4 (ZL10353+xc2028/xc3028) (initialized) Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0fe9:db78 DVICO FusionHDTV DVB-T Dual Digital 4 (ZL10353+xc2028/xc3028) (initialized) Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 001 Device 003: ID 152d:2329 JMicron Technology Corp. / JMicron USA Technology Corp. [Bug 238734] [NEW] /usr/bin/firefox managed by alternatives
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox-3.0 I was wondering if it would be possible to have the /usr/bin/firefox symlink be managed by `alternatives'. I mainly use FF2, as a bunch of web development add-ons have not been (fully) ported to FF3 and have been managing the `firefox' symlink by hand thusfar. However, each time a FF3 update is installed, the symlink is overwritten. When I then start `firefox' my FF2 profile is trashed by FF3 and I need to clean it out. I've now added a divert, which sort of fixes the issue, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who prefers to run FF2 and starts it via the CLI, so a more elegant way of managing this symlink might be nice. ** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: firefox-3.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- /usr/bin/firefox managed by alternatives https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/238734 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 103696] System fails to boot with 2.6.20-14
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.20 My system fails to boot when using the new 2.6.20-14-generic-amd64 kernel. The 2.6.20-13-generic-amd64 kernel works fine, but with the -14 kernel the system simply stops after detecting disks and usb devices. No errors or anything unusual are logged. The system stops at the point where normally the root filesystem would be mounted. The keyboard is responsive at this point, but boot never progresses. I notice the -14 kernel uses the new libata drivers, whereas the -13 kernel did not. fstab and menu.lst are set up to use UUIDs, but just in case I tried with root=/dev/sda2 (previous /dev/hda2) as well. Same result. The system is an AMD64 3000+ with an nforce 3 mainboard. Only the on- board controllers are used. One sata disk is attached, there are three pata disks and there is an external USB2 disk. All these are detected (as sda through sde) during boot.
