@cyphermox what's the best way of trying the fix? Can I just get updated
packages with the beta2 or should I wait for this to get into a nightly
build (and if so when do the nightlies get made)?

Thanks!

[Bug 1567445] Re: ubi-prepare failed with exit code 255

2016-04-11 Thread Cameron Hart
I'd also like to know how "now or never" this actually is. I've been
trying to find documentation about this feature but haven't succeeded so
far.

@matthew-wilson: once I had the error I'd always get it on retry no
matter what options I chose. On reboot (or maybe just restarting
ubiquity, can't remember) if I didn't choose disable secure boot then I
didn't get an error.

[Bug 1567462] Re: Identical mount points for two file systems error

2016-04-08 Thread Cameron Hart
I looked into this a bit more. I have two drives which both had EFI
partitions on them . However one of the EFI partitions was empty and was
actually unused. I deleted the empty EFI the partition and I didn't get
this bug and partition manager stopped crashing.

The unused EFI partition was on the Samsung SSD drive.

[Bug 1567462] [NEW] Identical mount points for two file systems error

2016-04-07 Thread Cameron Hart
Public bug reported:

When attempting to install 16.04 Beta 2 by upgrading 15.10, I get the
following error:

Identical mount points for two file systems

Two file systems are assigned the same mount point (/boot/efi): SCSI1
(0,0,0), partition #2 (sda) and SCSI5 (0,0,0), partition #1 (sdb).

Please correct this by changing mount points.

If I click OK I'm taken to the partition editor which appears to scan my drives
but then doesn't show any particles. If I click on any partition editing
buttons, ubiquity then crashes.

[Bug 1366241] [NEW] [P35V2, Realtek ALC282, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all after laptop suspended

2014-09-05 Thread Cameron Hart
Public bug reported:

Speaker audio no longer works after suspend and resume on my laptop. The
sound icon in the desktop sound settings does not appear muted and
toggling the mute setting does not restore the speaker audio. *However*
I can restore speaker audio by muting the audio and then increasing the
audio volume from a muted state. This works when using the audio
function keys on my laptop, I haven't tried achieving the same thing
through the GUI. Strangely simply toggling mute doesn't restore speaker
audio, neither does just fiddling with volume, I have to increase the
volume from a muted state.

Additionally headphone audio doesn't appear to have any problems, it
continues to work after a suspend.

It was using the Natty package which was most likely 0.20.0-1.

[Bug 750349] Re: Spread - Clicking on a app icon to spread the windows must always show all the windows, regardless of whether or not some of the windows are minimised

2011-04-09 Thread Cameron Hart
I've created a patch which minimizes windows again after then spread is
dismissed. This should address Fabien's issue with the fix for #750349.

https://code.launchpad.net/~bitshifternz/unity/bug-750349-restore-state

It's worth noting though that a focus (clicking another active
application's launcher icon) will also unminimize minimized windows for
that application. That behaviour is a separate issue unrelated to the
fix for 750349 and my patch listed here.

[Bug 688117] Re: Launcher does not raise minimized windows consistently

2011-04-05 Thread Cameron Hart
Doug McMahon wrote

(makes head spin a bit.

I had noticed that too. I think I could probably stop if from switching
to other workspaces unless the user specifically selected a window from
another workspace in the spread. I'll have a look into it.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/689733 is related
to the workspace switching issues. It didn't seem like a consensus had
been reached on that yet though.

[Bug 688117] Re: Launcher does not raise minimized windows consistently

2011-04-03 Thread Cameron Hart
I've made another patch which produces the two test cases that the
reporter lists. In both instances the scale plugin is launched with all
windows visible.

It behaves consistently in that when clicking on an icon with a single
window the window is focused, with multiple windows all windows are
displayed through the scale plugin (whether or not they are minimised).
Clicking again on the icon will terminate the scale. I believe
terminating the scale when clicking on the icon is the intended
behaviour according to the comments in the code.

The only case where it isn't consistent is if all windows are minimised,
clicking the icon with focus instead of scale. I'm not sure why because
from debugging it does appear to be initiating the scale in this case.

The branch is https://code.launchpad.net/~bitshifternz/unity/fix-for-

[Bug 688117] Re: Launcher does not raise minimized windows consistently

2011-04-02 Thread Cameron Hart
I've proposed a fix that raises minimised windows before the scale.

https://code.launchpad.net/~bitshifternz/unity/partial-fix-for-
bug-688117

I'm not sure about always going into the scale as suggested by the bug
reporter. I tried this and found it annoying is I generally wanted to
focus the window that was last active for the application rather than
choosing a window every time.

Yes you need 1072 and 1073, although I've since found a slightly simpler
way of doing the same thing - that is changing the w-activate() in 1072
to w-unmaximize(), then 1073 is not necessary.

I'm not sure what you mean by the option in workarounds?

[Bug 339563] Re: Unable to mount Canon cameras via USB (Jaunty)

2009-05-16 Thread Cameron Hart
I've found that my Canon Powershot A510 doesn't work with my desktop PC
running Jaunty amd64 but it *does* work with my Acer Aspire One running
Ubuntu Netbook Remix Addition (Jaunty).

Aside from the obvious hardware differences:
 * My desktop is running amd64 Ubuntu vs. the netbook remix being 32 bit
 * I did a fresh install of Jaunty on the netbook vs. an upgrade from intrepid
on the desktop.
 * Whatever packaging differences there are between regular Ubuntu and UNR?

I hope that helps narrow down where the problem may be.

[Bug 367167] [NEW] Canon PowerShot A510 not accessible

2009-04-26 Thread Cameron Hart
Public bug reported:

Since upgrading from Intrepid to Jaunty I am unable to download photos
off my Canon Powershot A510.

On plugging the camera in, it is recognised. If I choose to open it with F-Spot
I get a dialog asking me to select the camera from this list:

Canon PowerShot A510 (normal mode) usb:004,005

I don't recall that happening using Intrepid. Once I've selected a camera
(doesn't matte which one) I get the following error:
Error connecting to camera: Received error Could not lock the device while
connecting to camera.

Similarly if I attemp to access the camera through Nautilus I get the following
error:
