[Bug 1438947] [NEW] disabled apport (suspend error was irellevant), apport window stub pops up

2015-03-31 Thread Cameron Whiting
Public bug reported:

I ocasionally shut down my computer hazardously. (this would generate a
report)

This was on occasion of a clean restart (shouldn't this clear the
reports?)

I disabled apport through the default file (nano /etc/default/apport), then
shut down the daemon (sudo service apport stop; service stop/waiting) (I know
that's the wrong order, but I experience the rogue apport window a lot)

Then apport created a window, which I verified, using apport (sudo
ubuntu-bug -w) ironically

Hopefully on reboot this isn't a problem?

[Bug 1400964] [NEW] Freezes when pulling down from the edge of the notification area

2014-12-09 Thread Cameron Whiting
Public bug reported:

I am running unity8 in the lxc container on ubuntu trusty (but since
it's the container, vivid?).

I updated it right before testing it using --update-lxc. I'm very happy
that Mir ran this time, but I have successfully frozen it:

When pulling the notifications down, if one tries to pull the
notifications from right on the boarderline (between notifications and
non) (pulling in multiple places with frustration) one can freeze unity
8.

 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1393356] [NEW] startup disk fails to sync after wiping usb drive

2014-11-17 Thread Cameron Whiting
Public bug reported:

The error message from the window is as follows:
```
org.freedesktop.DBus.Python.gi._glib.GError: Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/dbus/service.py", line 707, in
_message_cb
retval = candidate_method(self, *args, **keywords)
  File "/usr/share/usb-creator/usb-creator-helper", line 239, in Format
block.call_format_sync('dos', GLib.Variant('a{sv}', {}), None)
gi._glib.GError: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.UDisks2.Error.Failed: Error
synchronizing after initial wipe: Timed out waiting for object
```

I was trying to overwrite a gentoo minimal install on a flashdrive for
the vivid iso.

I used usb-creator to select the image and overwrite the 16gb fat drive,
though apparently at first it did not overwrite it (seems to have
avoided lilo or part of the files)

Upon clicking "test disk"/"test usb" I found it was using the lilo boot
and trying to find the gentoo image (invalid kernel)

I tried to wipe the disk after deleting the partition in gnome-disks.
That's where the error comes in, it can't "sync after initial wipe".

[Bug 1393960] [NEW] Unable to start session at login

2014-11-18 Thread Cameron Whiting
Public bug reported:

The current build from yesterday for unity8-lxc isn't able to log me in,
"unable to start session" and it just stays at the login screen, letting
me pick something else and log in that way. My hardware is here:
gist.github.com/anonymous/97999d22923133b7719f and I am using:

"Description: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS Release: 14.04"

unity8-lxc:
  Installed: 1.0.1-0~37~ubuntu14.04.1
  Candidate: 1.0.1-0~37~ubuntu14.04.1
  Version table:
 *** 1.0.1-0~37~ubuntu14.04.1 0
500
http://ppa.launchpad.net/unity8-desktop-session-team/unity8-preview-lxc/ubuntu/
trusty/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I haven't the slightest how this is helpful. To sum up my hardware
digest: I am using Ubuntu 10.04 Trusty x86-64, Linux Kernel
3.13.0-39-generic, Intel i5 M520 @ 2.4GHz x 2, 1.9 GiB memory, 238.1GB
hard drive, and an intel integrated graphics card. I should probably
tell you what the container's stats are but I haven't figured out how to
jump into that yet.

[Bug 1395404] [NEW] Screen brightness never listens

2014-11-22 Thread Cameron Whiting
Public bug reported:

I can never get the screen brightness to obey me on ubuntu. It's to the
point where I'd move to Mint. The setting is simply a checkbox in the
settings, and when unchecked, apparently the screen still follows the
"90 seconds" until dimming the screen.

It should stay bright :/
