Re: [Bug 1239578] Re: No wireless support for Realtek RTL8192EE [10ec:818b]

2014-12-12 Thread Giles Carré
Hi,

Le 11/12/2014 23:06, K Xu a écrit :
I am using a version of this driver I got from Larry Finger, but it seems
to be buggy as my internet often drops. I am using it on a T440s on Ubuntu
 12.04.

Should I update to Trusty, expecting to help solve this issue?

I have used Ubuntu 14.04 without success, because the driver wasn't
integrated in it kernel version (3.14).

I am now on Ubuntu 14.10 since october (today with the last main kernel,
3.16.0-28). I am able to see the wifi networks, so better than with
14.04, but steel unable to connect.

I don't know if this Ubuntu kernel integrates the last revision of RTL
8192EE driver.

Regards,

Giles Carré

[Bug 1239578] Re: No wireless support for Realtek RTL8192EE [10ec:818b]

2014-10-09 Thread Giles Carré
Just FYI

For testing, I have upgraded my Lenovo T440s under Ubuntu 14.10 beta 2
one week ago. The native kernel is 3.16 (today 3.16.0-21).

Since the upgrade, WiFi networks are seen. But it's fully impossible to
connect to anyone, even if it's a fully open network, ie without
authentication protocol or dialog.

And sometime, the system freezes when RTL8192ee device is on, and never
when off.

Now, I expect the release candidate (october 16), then the official
release (october 23).

[Bug 1332164] [NEW] Battery powered keyboard gives invalid laptop detection

2014-06-19 Thread Rafaël Carré
Public bug reported:

laptop-mode will assume the system is a laptop if any battery is found.

I am running a desktop PC with a bluetooth battery powered Logitech K810
keyboard.

$ cat /sys/class/bluetooth/hci0:64/address
00:1f:20:91:df:35
$ ls /sys/class/power_supply

Battery
$ cat /sys/class/power_supply/hid-00:1f:20:91:df:35-battery/scope
Device

The following laptop-detect code will assume the keyboard battery is an
ACPI battery:

# check for any ACPI batteries
/sbin/modprobe battery 2 /dev/null || true
if [ -d /sys/class/power_supply ]; then
for i in `ls /sys/class/power_supply/*/ 2/dev/null | grep -v hid`; do
if grep -q Battery $i/type 2/dev/null; then
$PRINTIT We're a laptop (ACPI batteries found) 2

battery type, or filter out scope = Device

[Bug 1275794] Re: Lenovo T440s freezes when connected to docking station

2014-03-04 Thread Giles Carré
I confirm this behaviour: with the dock firmware update (T440s in a
ProDock for me), I can use external displays. I can have two external
displays (two 1680x1050), one on HDMI port, an another on VGA port.

In normal mode, the two external displays are mirrored.

But I can put them in extended desktop mode and have something like one
3360x1050 display. I'd preffer have two distinct displays, because today
it's difficult to manage the windows size of the graphic applications
(in particular, the automatic resize facility when you push the window
to the bottom/top/left/right on in the corner). So, I expect an
evolution.

Nevertheless, the good news is that I can use 3 displays in the same
time: the internal one and the two externals.

[Bug 888002] Re: VLC prevents Ubuntu from turning off screen in idle state

2011-11-14 Thread Rafaël Carré
Thanks!

Is VLC playing when this happens?

If yes it's intended behaviour, VLC prevents the computer from going to
sleep.

If you run
dbus-send --session --dest=org.gnome.SessionManager --type=method_call
--print-reply /org/gnome/SessionManager org.gnome.SessionManager.IsInhibited
uint32:12

You'll see if the session is inhibited.

12 is actually 8 | 4
8 = prevents suspending the session or the computer
4 = prevents marking the session as idle

Perhaps we should just use flag 4, to not prevent manual suspending but prevent
automatic suspending (after idle time)

[Bug 888002] Re: VLC prevents Ubuntu from turning off screen in idle state

2011-11-14 Thread Rafaël Carré
Ah pause was already handled but there was a typo in the code.

When gnome chose to have a gnome-specific interface instead of the one
common with KDE (why) they also changed the case.

Upstream fix can be backported to Debian package:
http://git.videolan.org/?p=vlc.git;a=blobdiff;f=modules/misc/inhibit.c;h=6d515f898cf3d2472d1788952434bc7f31360685;hp=14162e8936ed7fe4dc8a7df225473030b9e2d2a8;hb=714ba1f156ec4bf1e69ae668f5c9d8447716c169;hpb=39b9b36381a495f374f880e37f899e59f453b9d4

Marking as fix released (upstream) though I don't know if it's correct
as the patch is not in Debian package.

[Bug 282644] [NEW] VLC is linked with non-unicode ncurses library

2008-10-13 Thread Rafaël Carré
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vlc

Linking with libncurses*w* (wide characters) is needed for unicode
support.

The output given when using french locale is borked since libncurses
doesn't support unicode.

Attached patch makes the build depend on it, it is automatically picked
up by vlc's configure if available.

Debian package suffers from the same problem

[Bug 51930] Re: Incomplete french translation on Assistant d'importation d'Evolution

2006-07-05 Thread Rafaël Carré
this issue has already been discussed on french translation team mailing
list, and these 2 strings _are_ translated in rosetta.

the problem occurs with last language packs. we need additionnal info to
confirm or not that this problem exists in other languages.

I forgot to mention that the problem occurs with last _daily_ language
packs

Could you verify if the problem exists with german translation of
Evolution ?

[Bug 31311] Re: notifier is red during an update, and says an error has occurred

2006-07-05 Thread Rafaël Carré
is it fixed now ?

(just a thought, would it be possible to monitor the lock file for apt's
processes ?)

[Bug 51400] Re: Can't edit partitions without adding and removing

2006-06-30 Thread Rafaël Carré
Please, be more explicit.

I just tested gparted (on my system, not on the livecd) and I have a
submenu 'Format to' to change the filesystem type, which obviously needs
to destroy the partition.

What you mean is the partition type, the byte which is just an info for
partition managers ? Or the filesystem type which is on the partition ?

[Bug 51401] Re: Bad to memorize program name

I think this is the problem of the upstream author, and since his name
sounds like asiatic, i don't think it's hard to remember for him :o)

[Bug 51410] Re: udev problem with usb stick

2006-06-30 Thread Rafaël Carré
try to remove the fstab line, udev is only used to update /dev entries
when a device is plugged in/out

i don't know the auto mount tool in Kubuntu, but it must use HAL just as
Ubuntu's one

[Bug 51411] Re: Installer Crash Report

2006-06-30 Thread Rafaël Carré
This is interesting :
ubiquity: ['/usr/share/grub-installer/grub-installer', '/target'] exited with
code 10

But I also noticed some cd-rom read errors in your logs, did you try to
rewrite the iso to a CD-R ? (I mean not an old and scratched CD-RW)
